Not completely sure about this but i have seen people who did it,. live far longer than you would expect. unfortunately i can't see them, so if they do eventually die? i dont know if they stepped off or lost their grip. This may also apply if u are holding on tot he conning tower when it submerges.
u need to understand where u leave the tail, and just start to normal swimming, without holding run, and u can survive full round that way, the only problem is to understand when to leave the tail
