    I suggest you also grease the drive shafts while down there. I found 4 grease fittings.

    Would a 2013 SR5 2WD Sequoia need an LSD additive if I use OEM gear oil?

    Some mechanics recommend for the transfer case only 75 oil. Not 75-90. What do u think about it?

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not a mechanics recommendation, Toyota owners manual recommendation.
      It's very thin oil and expensive. How many dealers actually use in customers vehicles? Mix numbers, not every dealer. What do you have and year. I personally would love to take it apart and see the difference between old transfer case and 2014 up. Don't know if it's because of fuel economy or actually completely different design. It's a different vendor. It was Japanese and know American.

      @@repairvehicle So you recommend 75W-90 for the transfer case as well as the front and rear differential? I am about to change my differentials and will do the transfer case too. I am using amsoil. Do i need to drain them all and fill with amsoil or do I need to add a flush style product first and drive for a little bit before changing?

    Do I need a friction modifier additive? I have a toyota 2008 4WD 5.7L

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, you don't need friction modifier. Amsoil is superior product and does require any additional friction additives.

    Do you still have the same sequoia? Wondering how well the fluid held up, if you had any issues/noises?

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I still have it and still love my Sequoia and no plans to sell or to trade in. Fluid is holding up excellent, no noise, no vibration. It runs smooth, better than brand new.

      @@repairvehicle What's your opinion on using something like Mobil 1 75W-90 in the diffs and transfer case? Do you think I'd cause any issues having the LS modifier in the oil? Toyota doesn't seem to call for an LS modifier, I wonder if it would cause issues with the transfer case? I could hunt around for some synthetic without the LS modifier I suppose.

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stay away from Mobil 1 gear oil, unless you want to have problems with your equipment. Their products are low quality. Read test results www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/gear-lube/severe-gear-75w-90/?zo=5257753

      @8:00 is how much he drained and put back in. You put back in what you drain out (assuming you didn't have a leak) then most of the time you fill until you're level with the bottom threads of the fill port.
