Hi Gina, Disney was a big part of my childhood in the 50s. I did not make it to Disneyland until I was 32 but we stayed a week and it was everything I expected. Oh, and my four kids loved it as well.😊 Enjoy your beautiful book! Sending you loving vibes from Hawaii. Aloha MMM❤
@@MarilynMayaMendoza I love Disneyland a lot. I grew up in Southern California and it was a big deal for us to go for a day every year. Even though we didn’t have a lot of money my parents made it work. I feel so grateful that I have the resources to go now as an adult.
Just finished Sipsworth. What a delightful book! Loved it. Now I’m reading James by Everett. I am ushering at his author event in a few weeks. James is wonderful so far.
What a lovely fantastic Disney book, just so great, Disney was front and centre of my childhood, sigh !❤. Guess what, I rescued a small pile of vintage books that were destined for recycling, I thought they were in ok condition and one of them was a Kathleen Norris called the mink coat!!! I so enjoyed seeing your Kathleen Norris books and hearing how your Mom loved them. Have a great weekend Gina❤.
Loved the Disney story and souvenir, Disneyworld is on my bucket list. We had a trip planned in 2020, but was a no go. May have to look for the book. Creative solution on the cat situation. ❤
Awww, thanks so much! You’re so sweet. I hope you enjoy September. I just love the descriptive writing so much. Such a beautiful setting, I want to live there.
@@GinaStanyerBooks me too. I am really taking my time because i dont want it to end. Tonight while looking for used books online i found a signed copy of September for such a good deal. Now i just hope that it makes it here from UK!
Hi Gina! I am so excited, I’m reading September finally. I am loving it. Only 100 pages in but I just had to let you know😊 Sounds like a fun Disney trip!
Oh, what a nice video to watch before going to bed! I'm currently reading a Wodehouse, The Code of the Woosters, a Kathleen Norris (Sea Gull), which I'm frankly finding rather slow though it might pick up now that she's just been hired as a companion, and for my nonfiction mornings, a very chunky Beatrix Potter biography. I was intimidated by the latter's size, but am finding it an entertaining and interesting read. So that's where I am right now. I have Thornyhold on my TBR, and can't wait to get to it. I don't think I own Moonspinners. Will have to go and look....Have a nice evening, Gina, and enjoy your Disney extravaganza!
Thanks Tina! I’m actually starting Thornyhold tonight / I forgot that I was going to buddy read it with a friend so I’m going to focus on it this weekend.
Hi Gina, The Semi Detached House and Sepsworth are going on my TBR. It's been a bad week. My husband tested positive for COVID Monday. He has several auto immune issues and you know I'm non sighted, have cerebral palsy and anxiety. He tested me today and I'm negative, I'm masking isolating taking echinaeca and drinking tea. It's been hard on our fur babies too. I've read six books so far this month. My three favorites have been The Witches of Lytchford. (cozy fantasy), The Blackwater Lightship (Irish contemporary) and A Green and Ancient Light (historical fantasy. I also have finished the original Pennyfoot Hotel series. The other 9 books are special editions. I'm about to start another cozy fantasy called ReWitched.
Oh no Amy! I’m sorry to hear about your husband getting Covid. I hope that you don’t get it too. I’ve been very very lucky and haven’t gotten it (knock on wood!) I want to read ReWitched for October. I just saw Claire Fenby talking about it and it sounds good! I can’t wait to hear what you think about. I’ve got it on a library hold so it’ll be about 9 weeks. Big virtual 🤗 hugs.
Enjoy Mary Stewart books. Usually. But her book, Gabriel Hounds, set in 1960s Lebanon I did not finish. Just couldn't get past one thing that became obvious after a couple of pages. I wonder what you'll make of it, if you havent already read it.
@@MarilynMayaMendoza it’s a really sweet book. Although the problem that I mentioned I had with it is some casual anti-semitism so keep that in mind. I got it for .99 on Amazon kindle (but it was missing the last sentence so if you end up doing that let me know and I’ll send you a screen shot of it ).
@@GinaStanyerBooks 👍 I read Agatha Christie with a lot of casual antisemitism. The good thing about Christi was when she knew better she did better. That isn’t always true of other authors.
Hello Gina! I bought Shoes meth last week-end. For once, had a NICE week-end, Saturday. My "daughter" and I ( only reading buddy, take it back. My granddaughter is too); went to a new to us bookstore 1 hr. from me😑 Huge, but way too expensive ! Then we went to lunch at The Jagged Fork. EXCELLENT! Catherine's mother-in-law was up visiting for months. She sent along a huge tote bag of used bks. for me😁😁 We have similar tastes, like WW2 historical fiction, certain christian authors,etc.. The only bks. I didn't take were Fern Michaels, don't care for her. We talked books all through lunch and she told me about her new class this yr. She teaches h.s. English. It was a fantastic day, soooo enjoyable. We don't see each other enough. We have been friends for about 27 yrs; BEFORE she was married. The good 'ol days!😅 I am presently reading a cozy mystery "A Spell For Trouble". Tomorrow or Sunday I will start Jane Eyre for Victober, haven't read it in yrs. ALWAYS good to see you🤗
So glad you had a nice weekend full of books and friends and cozy chats. It sounds wonderful. I have a few friends still from the “good ol days” too, and it’s so special.
Have you watched the Disney movie of The Moon-Spinners with Haley Mills? It’s good cheesy fun even though it deviates from the book and she is WAY too young to play the heroine. 😂
I’m sorry to hear about your _Moon-Spinners._ I’m sure you’ll pick it up again if you need to. Ew pee on shelves - I’d be lying if I said we’d never faced that here.
