Great interview. I remember meeting Aaron and the band in 2003. At the catillion ballroom in Wichita. Me, a friend and a girlfriend snuck in the back during soundcheck and told people we were techs for the opener. All of Staind are great dudes but Aaron is probably the nicest famous guy I've ever met. I watched their soundcheck then as a gritty highschool kid, walked over and introduced myself. He was eating. Super nice. Then we separated and someone came up a little later and said Aaron is looking for y'all. So we went to the back and Aaron had a huge body guard by him. He just said "no one here knows who y'all are, who are you?" I just said "I'm so sorry, we snuck in, your music saved my life. I had to meet you. I'm so sorry, we will leave." Aaron said "no, you don't have to leave, I'll add you to our guest list. Stay and enjoy the show" and he shook my hand and walked away. He was so cool. I'll never forget that.
That’s a great story. When I was a teenager I landed a day gig unloading gear for a Ronnie James Dio show in San Diego. Me and a friend had tickets to the show and got offered to make a few bucks…literally a few bucks….helping to unload gear. We got to stick around and listen to sound check. That was a privilege, getting to hear one of the greatest rock vocalists do his thing in a casual setting was great. We were leaving and a security guy told us to wait up. Ronnie came out from back stage to personally thank us for helping out. It was a hot summer day, we were not 21, so he ran back stage and grabbed us some sodas and came back out. Got hang out and talk music and football with Dio while having a soda. Great dude. RIP.

What a GREAT job you did with this interview. Aaron is Iconic. Staind is GREAT, and this interview 100% lives up to all their greatness. The CD cover story and how that cover in a roundabout way kept Fred stage side thru their entire set landing them a record deal is classic. Talking about his vocal cords another classic tidbit. What a GREAT interview!! Thank you

Aaron Lewis and staind have saved me on more than one occasion I discovered them when I was about 7 thanks to my sister who had the dysfunction album and I was hooked and as i got older and noticed how relatable the music was becoming to my life even now I'm at my lowest point ever in life and this new album coming out around the same time is like a sign that is gonna get better the only way to go is up from here and in thankful for staind and the amazing music they have made over the years
My son , who will be 17 next month, when he was around 6 years old he told the preacher at church he wanted to get up and sing a song for everyone..so preacher gave him the mic....his little voice belting out "It's been a while....." was the funniest sweetest thing ever!
Man this makes my heart so happy watching this. Aaron was one of my biggest heroes growing up in the late 90s early 00s. The love, respect and admiration for this guy and all those frontmen of the age, John Davis, Fred Durst and Chester to name a few. Wish I can go back in time and relive that era and hit pause just before it ended
Aaron & Mike are Spgfld Boys and it's so crazy how this band blew tf up over the years. On that note, I'm gonna go binge the Dysfunction EP for the 1,000th time
Great interview, ive followed Staind and Aaron religiously from 99 to probably 2012. Seen him live 13 times in total including solo shows, they are incredible!
This was such a great interview! I love that you're a genuine fan of Aaron's, just like I am, so your questions weren't the basic nonsense that some interviewers ask. Aaron Lewis is by far one of the most amazing musicians/vocalists of all time. His music has been part of the soundtrack of my life and I know so many people relate to that. He seems like the most genuine, honest guy and it was awesome to hear him tell stories that I had never heard but am totally excited about knowing.
When i was in 7th grade i was going through a deep dark depression and i would always listen to break the cycle. That album helped me alot. Staind and korn were my go to bands when i was depressed. Thank you Aaron.
I had a neighbor I used to borrow cds from when I was first getting into music. He handed me two cds to check out. Methods of Mayhem and Stainds Dysfunction album. I listened to MoM and wasn’t too impressed. Put in dysfunction in my Walkman and it hit so hard. I sat outside and cried. Aaron has been my hero ever since. Got me through some really hard times. Love you Aaron. Thanks for everything. One of the greatest vocalists/song writers I’ve ever heard.
Although I watched this video because it has Aaron lewis, I found myself really enjoying the interviewer. He keeps it rolling, no awkward silences, no fluff, and he created a really casual vibe which made Aaron more expressive. Good job sir.
I seen Staind 3 weeks ago, still pumped. That voice, and his words/lyrics, I cried. With Aaron what u see is what u get. ❤❤❤❤❤and love how he smokes while he sings😂
I signed my first professional hockey contract in 2001…the family that I lived with in Butte Montana was a military veteran/family. The housing father introduced me to “Staind” one night after practice and it hit me so hard. Loved every song on the album. Those were the best times of my life.
I'm so thankful Staind has a new record. My favorite band of all time. Staind has made music that truly has explained feelings I could never express. Aaron wrote lyrics that made me feel like they were written for me. If I ever wrote music and wanted to fully express who I am as a person it would probably sound just like Staind. The new record sounds great so far and it's almost exactly everything I could hope for in new Staind. Thank you for this interview and soooo stoked to hear the new album. Like literally the thing I'm most excited for right now in my life
I haven't heard any of the new music, but I really loved the self titled album. Aaron is a wordsmith and it truly helps that he can carry a tune very well.
Aaron seems like the type of person I could track a couple of bucks with in the woods all day and never mention the music industry and have great time. Just seems like a genuine down to earth guy.
This was the most interesting sit down interview I seen in a very long time thank you for this I'd love to meet him sit down and have a real conversation with Aaron he seems like a very humble genuine down to earth guy.
Thank you so much for asking Aaron about singing, man. It always drives me insane how interviewers will have these singers on and they never ask them about singing or their history and all that. I don't know why. People always asks guitarists and drummers those questions so, I'm so glad you did and he such a great story to share.
He's not lying!!! AFL is the same all the time, no put on just a down-to-earth guy. I have hung out with him numerous times and he's real, funny, honest, kind and I just live him and the rest of the band too ❤
Great interview! So pumped they're playing "Wanna be" on tour. This new record is fire. I cant wait until it is released in a few days. Very hard watching Aaron talk about the sacrifices he has made and all he has lost, as well as talking about Chester. 💔 Truly a fantastic interview. Thank you for this.
Love this interview. Love Aaron Lewis! I grew up in Ludlow MA met Aaron one summer at Hampton Beach and hung out for a couple of weeks with a group of people. Used to see him playing around Springfield. Aaron is an unbelievable talent! Worked for every success. Love your story Aaron!!! Was so excited to see Staind at Pine Knob. Saw Aaron Lewis at Sound Board Motor City Casino just before COVID. He has such a powerful voice and presence. He emits so much emotion in his vocals, regardless of the version, country, rock, acapella... You are amazing Aaron.❤
*edit* he wrote a song that my wife and I chose for the most special day in our lives in 10 minutes 🤣 He has no idea how special that song is to me. *edit* I don't care for his personal beliefs, but Aaron Lewis is my favorite lyricist of all time and Staind has more of my favorite songs of all time than any other band. So Far Away was the song my wife and I danced to 18 years ago on our wedding day 🥰 Started our marriage off right ;) Wish I could tell him thank you.
What a great interview!! as a cig smoker who recently quit around 5 months ago I must say this man makes those damn sticks so delicious. I have to be strong towards a potential relapse ✊
It took me 23 years to finally see them live in Irvine in 2023. They helped me stay above water growing up and I thought I was a happy person but when I showed up at the concert all of the songs he sang brought me back to 2001 and my wife couldn't figure out why I started tearing up for no reason. I'm hoping I can keep it all together in 2024 when I get to go see them again in Anaheim with the other band Breaking Benjamin and Daughtry.
What a great interviewer. There were times he went to speak just as Aaron went to continue a thought after pausing and he immediately withdrew and let Aaron finish expounding on this thought. Really well done and a great listener with attention.

Aaron is amazing, this was great He really has matured a lot, truly shows how real he is, how much he understands circumstances and how appreciative he is of people who have aided him, friends he still has, and when he talked about Chester and Johnathan Davis I shed tears too, can’t wait for the album Thanks for this, well done man 🤘🏻

My all time favorite Rock frontman and Country artist. I wish he/they would tour New Zealand
Aaron & Mike are Spgfld Boys and it's so crazy how this band blew tf up over the years.
On that note, I'm gonna go binge the Dysfunction EP for the 1,000th time
Im still obsessed with their song "outside" his voice the music. It hits deep
Great interview, ive followed Staind and Aaron religiously from 99 to probably 2012. Seen him live 13 times in total including solo shows, they are incredible!
This has to be one of the realest celebrities I have heard interviewed. Much respect to Aaron for keeping it real for so long.
1:57 Love hearing Aaron almost say "Mike gave me a cassette". Those were the days
Epic interview! I love hearing how Staind got started. I’ve met Aaron many times and he’s the nicest most down to earth guy.
saw them when thy toured with korn on their issues tour and got to meet them and saw them again with korn in 2021 and they still sound amazing live
This interview was a blessing. Thank you. I can feel your genuine excitement ❤
I seen Staind 3 weeks ago, still pumped. That voice, and his words/lyrics, I cried. With Aaron what u see is what u get. ❤❤❤❤❤and love how he smokes while he sings😂
Great interview... Aaron is self made and real... he deserves everything that he has achieved.
I see Staind live next week and I’m prepared to cry my eyes out, out of appreciation of the said sacrifices he has made for us.
Always had a soft spot for staind glad they're back love your channel bro keep it up ❤
Thank you so much for asking Aaron about singing, man. It always drives me insane how interviewers will have these singers on and they never ask them about singing or their history and all that. I don't know why. People always asks guitarists and drummers those questions so, I'm so glad you did and he such a great story to share.
Mike Mushok one of my favorite guitarist too 🤙🤘🏼 like his weird tunings like one for mudshovel G# tuning on his baritone guitar
Truly a fantastic interview.
I know what i've been through in my life and blessed to have come out the other side in one piece. The craziest point in my life is when i met and knew Aaron. I can only imagine the life and walk Aaron has led and came out with a soul intact and one of the biggest hearts in the world. Damn, so love and proud of this guy!
The pain when talking about Chester is so moving
First time commenting on your channel but all I can say is wow. Thanks for making this happen. Aaron is one of the realest and you are prime example of not all heroes wear capes. 🙏🏻
Thanks Aaron for inspiring me to pick the guitar back up again after many years of not playing. When your country albums started rolling out, ive had plenty of great songs to learn and play.
Hands down one of the best Aaron Lewis interviews ever. The way you got him to open up is amazing. It's like watching two old friends talking. Great job!
This is a really phenomenal interview. You ask well written questions and are clearly a fan which makes this even better. As a musician and a father to a daughter that part of the interview absolutely gutted me.
I was the only kid in my circle who liked Staind, alot! I even had a tshirt, so happy to see new material come out
I love Aaron Lewis. Thank you for having him
This dude's one of the most down-to-earth just phenomenal people that you could ever interview. I really wish more Americans would view people like him and jelly as role models
A guy I wish I could meet one day. Aron got me through some of the hardest times of my life.
I’ve never heard an artist NOT say they are the hardest working one. Here I was thinking roofing as a red head in July was hard but playing music is just a huge pressure point…
For me, this was your ABSOLUTE BEST interview and video to date. (You have put out a bunch of great material) I could write a novel of why, but I’ll keep it short and say that I’m on the exact same page as you. You made my day dude! 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼 Thank you
I've seen Aaron Lewis and Staind in concert and I have to say......the best concerts I've ever been too!!!! This man is so talented!!! I love what he stands for and I'm right there with him. Thank you Aaron Lewis for sharing your talent with us! You are appreciated ❤
Omg the best Rockfeed guest and interview ever! Thanks to you Brian and Aaron for such an intimate introspective into Staind early days and Aaron's solo country career. Aaron is one of my all time song writers and if you are a Staind fan and have not caught his solo show you owe it to yourself to catch hlm, awesome!
*edit*
I don't care for his personal beliefs, but Aaron Lewis is my favorite lyricist of all time and Staind has more of my favorite songs of all time than any other band.
So Far Away was the song my wife and I danced to 18 years ago on our wedding day 🥰 Started our marriage off right ;)
Wish I could tell him thank you.
What a great interview!!
as a cig smoker who recently quit around 5 months ago I must say this man makes those damn sticks so delicious. I have to be strong towards a potential relapse ✊
Staind was my favorite band growing up. Still one of my moves loved groups. Thanks a ton for having Aaron on the podcast.
There's no throwback. It's incredible music. In this condition is the greatest track so far. Love that my favorite band is back.
What a great interviewer. There were times he went to speak just as Aaron went to continue a thought after pausing and he immediately withdrew and let Aaron finish expounding on this thought. Really well done and a great listener with attention.
This has been the best Aaron Lewis interview I’ve ever watched. Congrats bro! Great Job!
When i was in prison "something to remind you" was my shit till this day i play it...been a fan since the first album
How'd you listen to It in prison? On a tablet or something?
@dustygatrell-ru7tg they sell radios and CDs in commissary... I would listen to dysfunction on cd and something to remind you would play on the radio local rock station and I would just lay down zone out and slip out of the prison (in my mind) when it came on...
Damn. Aaron chain smokes it up and still sounds amazing. Saw him perform live about a year ago and was blown away by the vocals sounding top notch. Great cleans and screams. Badass stuff Aaron. Keep it up.
My favorite shows were the ones where he got piss drunk and cranky!
@@michaelhaydenbell haha. Im sure he had a thing or two to say in those moments lol
It helps when you smoke “natural” cigarettes that don’t contain tons of chemicals. He’s talked about it before.
@@georgefloydsinhellwbreonna5330 Finding the good products, definitely does matter. Works that way with marijuana too.
I'm blessed to have rock feed interview such a great band of my day. Love Staind...thanks rockfeed
Aaron is amazing, this was great
He really has matured a lot, truly shows how real he is, how much he understands circumstances and how appreciative he is of people who have aided him, friends he still has, and when he talked about Chester and Johnathan Davis I shed tears too, can’t wait for the album
Thanks for this, well done man 🤘🏻
This new album is awesome! Has at least 5 bangers on it.
The only country music i like. Ive loved stained since i was a child. Hes such an amazing person. Id love nothing more than to meet this man
I know the new album is going to be amazing.... it's staind
I still rock their last one so hard. It's actually my favorite. Can't wait to hear the rest of the new one🤟
Aaron Lewis is the man, I met him and the rest of Staind in Atlantic City back in 2005 or 6. I was in 9th grade when Dysfunction came out and it was a big impact on my life, got me through a lot of shit. I just listened to Raw and Spleen today..
Im loving these interviews with artists who I love so much
Thank you so much for this interview. As someone who grew up in that same era as you, it was always a dream to be able to sit down and have a conversation with someone like Aaron, and ask these meaningful questions. Everything you guys talked about was the stuff fans want to hear. Hearing Those stories are like the rock gospel! I played a country festival at the Gorge back in like 2016 when I was touring. We played the “Next from Nashville” stage. And I remember seeing Aaron backstage and I was too scared to go up and talk to him even though we were technically sharing that stage. I will always regret that! Well done on a great interview!
In my opinion, hands down Tormented is the best album they ever wrote. And the cover art is unbelievable.
I've seen a lot of AFL interviews in my life and I'd have to say this was my favorite. Awesome interview, thank you!!
Awesome interview! So much respect for Aaron! It’s not easy to hold your ground, not compromise your morals and values for fame and success. Also amazed his voice is so good with the chain smoking 😂
My favorite band of all time is Staind, It help me through a lot of dark times! Aaron Lewis keep doing what you do sir!
I went to two shows on the Godsmack tour, and he was amazing. Aaron’s voice live is crazy amazing. He didn’t say a word for over six or eight songs 😂😂 and of course, when he said something it was about California’s governor. That was amazing.
