Just a word from experience, when using it as a vac, it does ware the fan blades quite quickly which degrades the blowing performance, it will suck up things that you don't really intend to. Replacements are pretty cheap and easy to fit!
Thanks for the heads up. It seems quite a straight forward machine to work on and has been used to collect all of our leaves this autumn and is still doing well. I will check the blades out when I service it over winter.
I can't actually remember. You can get the parts online from L and S engineers. Or even better, phone them up and they will sort you out over the phone 👍
After making this conversion is the blower similar to the shredder/vacs that Stihl sells, like the SH 86 C-E? That is, does it shred the leaves or just vacuum them?
If it's comes apart from where it's connected to the main unit then you need to turn the collar really hard and it will click and lock in place...... ( I think )
Hello. I’m looking to buy one to replace my B&D electric one which failed due to a plastic fan blade wearing out as it mulched small twigs and leaves. It didn’t last long. I see the stihl has a 3 blade metal shredder mounted onto……Is it plastic or metal fan blade? Hopefully metal! Thanks
It's a plastic fan blade with a metal shredder mounted in front of it. I can honestly tell you that we have used ours for 2 consecutive seasons without issue 👍
@@JimmyTheMower That’s fantastic, thanks for your help. I think I will go for this one. My old one didn’t have a metal shredder blade on it and just used the fan blade as the shredder. Poor design. Perhaps the stihl fan blade is replaceable for a top of the range product anyway. Thanks again. PS I like your comment on “If you have something nice to say, leave it in the comment section” 👍🏼
Is there a bigger bag for this? I have a 50 foot maple tree and I want to shred the leaves so they compost faster. I'm concerned that I will have to stop and empty this bag 200 times. I'm not a lawn obsessed person who wants to get rid of every leaf I see, I want to shred a LOT of leaves.

There is 50 videos showing how to convert it from blower to the vacuum. But how do you convert it from the vacuum to the blower? Can someone please make a video of that or do you have to make same videos over and over how to turn it from vacuum to blower instead the other way around
Cheers Jimmy couldn’t of put this together without ya 😊
My pleasure 👍
Thank God for your video! I was totally lost on how to put it together.
I'm glad it helped 👍
Great video!! I just bought one can't wait to put it to work. Very informative❤
Brilliant, you will love it 😀

🤣🤣🤣 Thank you 😊

Fantastic, I'm so glad it helped 👍
Thank you for this i was struggling 😂
It's not very obvious when you haven't done it before.
I'm glad the video helped 👍
Thanks for this. Did the kit have a part number? Stihl UK don’t seem to mention the kit they advertise being compatible with the SH86-C
I can't actually remember.

@@JimmyTheMower Looking at it the BG56 & BG86 is mentioned, I’ll grab one in the morning. Thanks again Jimmy! 👍🏻
Thank you!
Glad it helped 👍

Yes they are shredder vacs if they have the metal impeller blade fitted.
Jimmy 👍
The vac tube falls off after awhile. Any way to correct this without buying a new vacuum tube??

I need this but the other way around, I'm having trouble getting it off
I will get one of those done as soon as I can.

Is it possible to vacuum builders sand/gravel from grass? The builders are here and they have spilt a load on the grass!
No, it's designed to leave sand and gravel on the floor and pick up the grass I'm afraid
put some spray silicone on the tubes ,makes it a lot easier to take on and off
Hey, thanks. That's a great tip 👍
Thank you

Unfortunately there isn't a bigger bag. To be honest with you, when this size bag is half full of shredded leaves it is very heavy.
This just popped up , 2 years ago this video you looks a ten years younger 🤣
That's living with Mrs Mower 🤣🤣🤣
