After watching several different episodes of Gary Vee tell small business owners that they should be posting 7-15x a day on each on social platform, I'm glad he was called out on it. As someone who works with local businesses, even the tech savvy ones just do NOT have that kind of time. Unreasonable expectation
Thanks Selda! Yea, I mean if you've got the resources he does to produce that much content go for it! BUt we have to meet reality on reality's terms here. No solopreneur running a business can keep up with that unless it was their sole focus.
Not to mention that most people don't have a content strategy. Most of the time they're thinking, "What do I post today?" Coupled with that advice, they'll never reach burnout. They'll hit hopelessness first.
Gary Vee style isn't for everyone and he certainly should say that this can only work for a medium business that has a dedicated team. I don't believe that the number of pieces of content will matter as much as the quality and the consistency Where we small business owners usually get stuck is maintaining a consistent schedule to post even if it was just once a week.
I put prices on my website. A lot of people say I shouldn’t but I really don’t want to spend a call trying to convince them about my price. They’ll know from the get go
Haha, that's me at 3:55. You're 100% right about the form! This video is a couple of years old now, and I distinctly remember the moment I realised that a detailed form to ensure a quality lead did not mean I needed a million questions 🤣. I should do an updated version of that video. Love the concept of this video btw, we need more of this sort of content to call out some of the awful advice floating around!
To be fair, I saw the Gary Vee clip in it's complete form, and he wasn't saying to post to every platform 12-16 times per day, but rather to do 3-4 pieces of content and then cross post to 3-4 different target platforms for a total of 12'ish posts per day. This should not be much of a burden, and if you're doing lead gen it may be the easiest part of your day.
I am new to posting and I can see this strategy as a goal to reach. Once I can do 1 post on multiple platforms correctly/predictably adding a second or third post seems doable: especially once I can create a content creation schedule based on product or topic.
I don't have pricing info on my voiceover website, but that's because pricing voiceover is an involved process and I can't just throw out random numbers as it's entirely dependent on a variety of criteria of the project. I wish I could distill it down more simply and show pricing info, but it's just not realistic in this field. 🤷♂
you could offer preconfigured packages with information that anything on top of that needs to be priced individually kind of a base starting point from which the conversation starts or end if that's enough for the client
I really hate business without websites. It's really hard to deal with people just from social media. I mostly just move on to someone who has a website. Missed conversation with me.
Thank you for your videos, this is the first time I’ve commented on a video thanking someone but seriously you produce quality content and wanted to show recognition Thanks again mate
Amazing stuff here. I stumbled across you earlier today and have just been watching video after video. On top of the fact that you have so much solid advice I can tell that you really enjoy helping people which has to be a major factor in your success. The last four hours of your content have answered so many of the questions I had in addition to giving me the direction I needed to move forward with my business. Very Hormozi like as you both have such solid quality and you both just give it all away for free. So quality that I don't feel nearly as bad as I typically do when procrastinating this hard from the things I should actually be doing. I guess it's good that Hormozi reminds me that I suck and aren't working hard enough. Regardless I hope I can develop the skills needed to make this actionable. Instead of starting now I'm going to watch the video you just recommended. Cheers!
I have zero interest in anything Gary Vee says. I don't take advice from people who "brag" about getting their start by stealing the neighbors flowers and then selling them back to her in a nice bouquet! Even if he told the story in jest. Nice video Wes. Thanks!
Thank you so much, Wes! I would love to see a video with your suggestion on a step-by-step path an online service professional (for example coach or consultant) would take to bring leads in to work with them. There are so many opinions out there: Post valuable content, run ads, write a book, do speaking gigs, create a free course, join Skool and invite people to your group, etc. I trust you. I'd end up doing what you suggest.
5:00 Reminds me of the episode of The Office where Temp Ryan has Creed "create a website" which is just a word doc on his computer with a filename that looks like a website address.
Can you explain how to re-purpose your youtube content for Instagram and tiktok if youtube is filmed in horizontal format and instagram and tiktok are filmed in vertical formats?
1. We took over a social account for a restaurant that wanted to go from posting whenever someone remembered to daily posting. They lost 30% of their following when we started posting daily because people were sick of seeing them in the feed. As a consumer, I don't really want to see businesses in my feed all of the time. Had to convince them to scale back to 5 times a week, and now we are seeing growth. 2. I hate this take because people think they own their audience on their rented platform. 3. Do you have that source? It would be great to share that research with some folks around 3 questions
Although I still get some value from his content, I pretty much stopped listening to Gary V when he came out with his "simply post 100 pieces of content every day" line. It's been hard to take him seriously since then.
I’m going to watch as many videos as I can I am genuinely confused on how to scale my company. I have done a lot of influencer marketing, and that has brought me quite a bit of success on the platform Facebook, but I feel that’s as far as I have gotten
In 8:20 You mentioned price but it's not about price it's about perceive value. This is why business owners are losing so much money by not learning basic sales techniques and only being concerned about traffic.
