You Won’t See Another Endgame Like This! Nihal Sarin vs Peter Svidler

- A total of twenty-two consecutive checks were given in the unique king walk as the black rook took the white king on a trip around the board. You might have seen a lot of rook endgames but we bet you haven't seen anything like this.

Respect for Peter Svidler the way he fully stood up to shake hands with a 19 year old! It was not just a namesake standing like most others do, he meant it. It speaks a lot about this man’s character 🙏🙋♂️
We hate nihal
@RavanPablo What?
I was looking for such comment and you commented. Grt, and I think not only Peter but everyone else in his team did the same.
Respect for your comment👏🏻 I agree totally
Lol I'm afraid namesake doesn't mean what you think it means. Just say he didn't stand just for the sake of standing instead of trying to be fancy.
Saw it live! Amazing endgame and so much gamesmanship by Peter faking "i'm so lost, I've completely given up" around 10:28 ahahah. Both really fun players.
Very nice save from Peter Svidler ! But also a beautiful game from Nihal. Great fight... Thanks very much for this video
The King was doing some cardio there! What a crazy match.
Fun ! I miss Peter and Jan's commentary, hope to see them again soon.
Love the smiled they shared at the end 🙂
i had a similar game when i was almost lost but got the idea of forced stalemate like this end game..great game by Nihal and Peter
Peter: Take my Rook..
Nihal: I know your bloody trick😂
Can u please explain me why nihal didn't take the rook. What is concept behind that, is it due to draw or losing if nihal takes rook.
@@brijeshagrawal1426Draw
If he takes rook then Peter has
No move. it's stalemate..
Thanks ! Exactly the answer I was looking for 🙏
How Svidler laughs ar the end is priceless.
Love You, Peter!
He didn't took rook bcoz. Black king had blocked by white rook. If white king had taken black rook then stalemate had happened . Why means all pawna are blocked including black King. 13:22
Lol amazing 😂....the rook following the king...one of a kind Match 😂
What Nihal attempted against Nodirbek, Peter succeeded in doing it againt him.
10:46 porque no capturo desde un principio el peón con la torre ?! Que alguien me explique
I did not understand why white playing a5 to a6 in the rook endgame is a blunder because it seems like a very normal move but it takes the chance of black playing a7 to a6. So it leads to stalemate patterns just like in the game. Lucky for Peter.
In this position Pragg and Gukesh will definitely win
Then Peter would have played it a7 to a6 for stalemate
the blunder was Rg7 taking the king's squares not a6
fabulous Svidler. what an escape
No, that was not a Rook sacrifice... That was an immortal Rookkkkkk.
It died at the end though
@@dineshbs444 capture= stalemate... That's why it's an immortal Rookkkkk.
@@gaurabkarmakar3870 I know that. I was talking wrt the literal sense that immortal means no death, but rook does die in the end, therefore not being immortal.
@@dineshbs444 the ROOK immortalizes the King. The brave rook
You got the draw but I got my Queen. ( Nihal Sarin )
What A Fantastic Game 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
d7 wala pawn e8 rook ko kyu nahi le raha tha pehle? Am i missing something? End mein wohi move kiya na?
😂😂😂😂 so wholesome. 2 gentlemen 🎉
what is the width and length of the table please
First time I have seen a game where the Rook is like "Maaro bhai muje, maardo"
8:15 It can be checkmate in few moves by h4
what is so important for the constant leaving of the table??
one of its kind match!
It just shows you how amazing Chess is! Love the Way Peter adds a Comment slighly louder to Nihal and is shusssed! :) haha
I thought Ke6 and if Re8+?? Re7 interposes and wins (because the Black king is no longer stalemated by the rook). However, after Ke6, Black just plays Rf6+! etc. and still draws.
Peter is no joke such a dominant opening.
P-Svidy!!! Dude has become one of my favorite people on the planet.
Furious Rook ! and no way to avoid perpetual Checks. 👍
*Can someone please explain to a layman? Why did Nihal not take the Rook? In the end, was it a draw or did Nihal win? Please explain.*
Because the rook has bad breath
Draw. Taking the rook results in a stalemate
If rook was taken, the only piece that could move for black is King and that will be stale mate.
After Kg5 by Peter why didn’t Nihal take on g4 threatening mate?
As I watch this match I get up from my chair
Omg! What a save by stalemate, endgames are incredibly
I also played game like this in my childhood
and my friend got shocked and fed-up at same time 😂😂🤣😂🥳
Nihal's look at 12:12
13:17 threefold
Hello ChaseBaseIndia @chasebaseindia you should mention where this match played which tournament and and date, At least we will follow event details as well.
Can someone explain me why white didn't took the rook by his king piece even though it was safe
In the last Why did not Nihal moved his king from E7 to E6 bcoz that way if Peter's rook come on E7 then nihal's rook on G7 could have eliminated Peter's rook. 🤔
When his rook is in e8, how can he keep the king in e6
If u r suggesting from F7 to E6, then he would have moved rook to F6
And incredibly entertaining game! Enjoyed the whole of it! Hard to believe, after such a clash, this Rook ending was a draw even with a passed pawn! It may seem that Rg7 -stalemating the King- was the drawing move - it was not. The Rook ending was drawish before that!
Also a hooray for Svidler’s stamp of being a professional and having fun👌👍🏻
why rook was nit taken at 8.23
ingenious
Tricky Peter
Swedler stands for hand shake
Nice
I dont know much about chess , but why didnt sarin take the rook , i mean the almost all the checks by the rook could have been countered by taking the rook isint it ????
im trying to understand the same thing
hello look closely. if he takes the rook with his king or a pawn it would result in a draw becsue peter has not a valid move after that. pawns can't move, king can't move because check. he tried to win it somehow by not taking the rook, hoping for a mistake by peter.
first the en passant checkmate of magnus, then this!
I wonder why Svidler is got up from his chair a thousand times in the opening and early middlegame...nervousity? Boredom? Distraction? Thurst? Tactics?
Where are your comments ???????????
i hope agadmator recap this!
It's a force 💪😂😂
Haha Peters rook was saying here take me I'm all yours, don't run from me, take me take me.
Can someone please explain why nihal was not eliminating his rook with king..😢
if he took the rook, it would a draw due to stalemate.
Why the white king not attacking the rook?
Peter getting up for every move... Wait I'm coming with bead detector...
Can someone explain to me why that king is not taking the rook? 11:20
Because capturing the Rook leads to stalemate and the same result happened.
@@derekpaitrick1007 yes! I forgot that, you’re right. What’ a game
This endgame: When funny chess puzzles come to life!!!🤣🤣🤣😌
Peter might had a food poisoning 😂😂 or what
the way rook followed is the king same way i follow my crush 🤣🤣
8.22 why black Queen didn't take rook
A 1200 move by Nihal, what a massive blunder. Idk why give the king 0 squares to move to when you have no checkmate set up.
what a stalemate
How did he even lose that big of an advantage
Exactly 💯 opponent was very happy with the result 😂
As he is not Wesley soo....even nihal realized it but he was late😀
a6 by Nihal was a mistake, but as is often the case, that mistake lead to a beautiful stalemate idea!
I have not seen such a mess
Bruhhhhh!! Stalemate 😅
At 8:26 why didnt he take down nihals rook
h4 + and Qf6# so beautiful
Bcoz there is forced mate
both players made a rook sacrifice denied 😢
Nice mad rook endgame
Why is peter so concerned with the other board
Why was black queen not captured the free rook.???
Draw kaise hua
You can't take my rook hahha
Master Svidler! 🥷 Spotted the stalemate before Nihal. 😎
Why didn't he take the rook ? There were multiple instances to do so...
just take the draw omg
Nihal reached for his king and then straight onto scratching his head 11:10
I wonder why the engine gave white an edge after Kf4 Re4+ and did not settle down until Re8+
Why king is not killing the rook??
NIHAALLL
8:28 why didnt peter took the rook with his queen 🧐 i didn't understand why he took nihal's queen instead of the free rook
Because there is mate by forced
I thought for a while and spotted mate
If he had taken the rook then h4 is followed by a forced mate through queen f6
Peter 'Swindler'
respect for peter
First time in my life i laughed out loudly for movements on chessboard.😊
8:23 , cant the queen take the rook
1.h4 Kxh4 =>
2. Qf6#
1.h4 Kxh4 =>
2. Qf6# 8:25
Thanks bro good explanation
@@gudymanBut he could also 1. h4 gxh4
Peter was more focused on someone else game rather than this own lol !
Bro doing what!?😭
Why did not he takes rook , am noob please tell me
There is something known as Stalemate in Chess. This is a situation where you are not in a check but also you don't have any legal moves to play (feels like all the pieces are stuck, can't go anywhere). So, here if white takes the rook, black will fall into this stalemate situation. And a stalemate ends in a draw.
@@aniketroy03 thanx for info really appreciate...
Wow
Peter Svindler
Peter's rook be loke: dam hai to mujhe mar ke dikha... 😂😂😂
15 min they can't sit at 1 place !! Omg how many times does Peter move in and out of his seat .. 😮 could have easily lost about 4-5 min on his clock
15 minutes for each side, plus 10 seconds increment for each move, one game easily lasts 45 minutes. Also, it is a team tournament, he may be going to check on his teammates' boards to see if a draw is enough for him or if he should risk everything and fight for a win for the team situation.
Rook on the g file was a total blunder by nihal.
Crazy 😂
Amazing :-) most entertaining end game ever
😮.👍
Peter stands to shake hands which goes to show what a gentleman he is
Why king not to take rouk
Stalemate on the spot
explain me why isnt nihal taking the free rook
Draw by stalemate, black pawns can't move and black king also have no squares so if he will take the rook black will not have any legal move and it will be a draw.
then Its a draw. Opponent cannot make a move. King is also covered with the rook
cause its free
Atseem the chess clock is slower
Peter escaped. Nihal really need to work on improving his end games and assess the situation!
