Neega, You need to improve your fishing skills & use Barbless hooks which cause less damage & bleeding to the fishes mouth & lips. Also, you need to have a large canvas folder with long wooden handles to carry the fish to very short distance. The way you dragged the fish with the gripper is totally wrong & will damage the fishes gilla, skin & many internal organs. You must show much more love, care & compassion to the fish while you enjoy sport fishing..
Just you give you a feel of it I would challenge you to take this test yourself.. Take a treble hook, bait it with gulab jamun & eat it yourself.. And then ask a friend of yours to hook you in your mouth & then drag you using that hook into water & drown you for 15-20 mins.. Let me know how it goes & most importantly what you learnt in the process.. And then I will also challenge you to become the best Mahseer Conservation specialist in North East India.. That will earn my respect.. & I will personally come & give you a salute & a medal of honor. Now it's upto you to earn the respect.. This is called real courage my friend.. Best Wishes, Deepak

Great fish but poor handling - use a protective mat/canvas sheet. Don't drag the fish over rocks and sand. 22 kgs suspended by its' mouth - that will also cause damage.

you take the fish out of the water for almost 4 minutes. It's lung and brain is damaged. It may not survive after you release it. Imagine you are under water for almost 4 minutes. Next time do not take it out of the water for more than 1 minute.
