This Moira seems too afraid to make a risky heal, in case they take a single death. It's like "Oh No! A single death!" Sometimes you need to take risks when you're about to lose the team fight regardless. Get involved, and not just play passively.
I've noticed that too. When I play with my sibling (who's young and doesn't play other shooters) we get very slow matches and I often overextend thinking people will be taking space with me. It takes a bit to adjust to that playstyle. When I play alone the game feels comparatively a lot faster and I have to adjust back to constant uptime. It's a stark difference even in quick play!
I think the diagnosis of them playing too safe is bang on the money. They're so worried about getting picked off by a stray shot that they're only going forward to help the Zarya when the fight is already won. And whenever the enemy Reaper started tickling them from behind, they're turning around to duel them instead of Fading to the safety of their own team. I wouldn't be surprised if they had been getting caught out on positioning when they reached Gold 2, so made the decision to stop playing spawn simulator and flipped too far the other way, to the point they now can't climb back to where they were before
Your last sentence is a very good observation and is good advice for a lot of players (myself included probably). While they should obviously not be wide-peeking a turret form bastion (which they did several times...), they need to help match their tank's aggression. It felt like pretty much every time the tank was holding front line or aggressing, the Moira could have easily tried to support them from a safe position. Instead they repeatedly watched them die, I think they probably tunnel vision too much on getting kills. A high charge Zarya is a LOT more lethal than Moira. Without tank, your team loses the fight anyway pretty much all the time.
My main critique (as a lowly plat Moira main myself) is that there is not anywhere near enough up-time. It was hard to square the player's opening comment that they felt they were basically carrying this game with the actual gameplay which was very passive, reactionary, and where they did nothing to swing any particular fight. Some specific notes: - Player often sat on orbs off cooldown. Orbs should be used as frequently as possible. Player arguably could have put out nearly twice as many orbs in this game, and that's a ton of value lost. Also, I noted player was peaking corners to throw orbs at the enemy. I strongly recommend learning and using the map geometry to bank orbs from places of safety. I'd wager this player is frequently punished by burst damage. I kept waiting this game for a Zen charged volley to decapitate them. - I didn't see much use of fade to reposition. Fade is Moira's best ability. It can be used to gap open space to take a position of cover from an off-angle where you can provide value. Use fade to quickly appear to swing a duel into a 2v1 or to apply a huge burst of heals to a retreating player. In the neutral team fight, use fade to reposition to a spot where you can deal damage to the enemy flanks/backline or heal, where you have good cover, and an available escape route (i.e. a strong position). - Player's positioning is very weak -- not necessarily insofar as they are in the middle of the open and taking unnecessary damage (although some of that) - but more that they're not in a place where they are able to do both damage and healing, or where the only damage they can apply is to the enemy tank. The positioning is very passive, which is probably why they were running out of healing resources so frequently. Resource management was a problem resulting from weak positioning rather than from over-healing. Moira excels at taking a position where she can apply reliable and constant damage to lower health characters and divert the enemy resources to address the threat she poses. This creates a resource and numbers advantage for your team by splitting enemy attention and forcing out valuable cooldowns defensively and reactively (e.g. Ana's nade as self-defense instead of as an anti-nade). This player did not position themselves to utilize Moira's greatest strength. For any Moira main, I'd recommend checking out OWReactorCritical on TH-cam. That channel isn't producing new content for now, but the videos already posted there remain applicable and helpful to a Moira-main (and other roles too, frankly). I'd also recommend checking out Arx_UK to see just how much value you can actually squeeze out of a Moira and how much carry potential the character actually has when played to their fullest. One thing I'd like to note is that while Moira fade can be used as a repositioning tool, it's primary purpose is as an escape tool. If you get too in the habit of using it offensively then you'll find yourself in many situations where you'll get punished for it. It's kinda the same as Kiriko teleport. You don't really want to teleport into a teammate where you don't know what the situation is like unless you really have to.
@icycloud6823 I'm not advocating for fading in to engage (at least not frequently, but you might have opportunity to clean up a low health kill). I'm suggesting using her mobility to reposition to a safe but stronger place - a location where you can use natural cover, disengage safely without fade, and from which you can use fade to escape when it is back off cooldown if you get dived (i.e. a position safe enough that you will survive by using cover even if the enemy all-ins you even if it means turning their back on the rest of your team).

I want to echo your recommendation of Arx but also add that his Moira University series - the most recent one that is featured in a playlist - is FANTASTIC. I finally decided a few months ago to buckle down and actually learn how to play Moira instead of just flailing around on her and his videos changed everything. it's an ACTUALLY educational series; he plays realistically while demonstrating accessible ways to immediately start getting more value from Moira. the series starts with him in placements where he places silver and then goes up to mid plat iirc.
This player really needs to look around at their teammates to check on their HP. There were many times the Moira could have at least picked up on audio/visual cues to realize a teammate they weren't looking at was being attacked. I'm only midway through this vod but I'm noticing this happening *constantly*, idk if they've ever taken a moment to look around to check on their teammates. Shocked this person says they carried. 17:29 pretty sure if they used damage orb here, they would have capped point
Another thing about the ult at 5 minutes ish is that if she did it earlier, not only would it have saved two teammates and created pressure, but enemy Zen didn't have transcendence yet to counter it

i think this person would benefit from playing brig instead of moira. the super safe play style suits a brig making their backline unkillable rather than a moira who is a more aggressive healer who should be making plays
No they never look at their backline. They could benefit from Brig play in the sense that they would be more obligated to check the backline, but that doesn't necessarily mean they would. Either that or they wouldn't keep Inspire active enough. They have a hard enough time balancing heals/damage on Moira, as well as being aware of how to position safely enough while still being able to do their job, which is definitely trickier and more nuanced on Brig.
21:48 The enemy has a bastion. Not only that, but they are currently in turret form. Also Zarya is walking in 1v5. My support senses would be SOUNDING THE ALARM. This is when you need to be throwing ALL of your resources at the Zarya to try to keep them alive. Otherwise you're going to have to wait another 10+ seconds for your Zarya to respawn and get back into the fight. This Moira just continues trying to do damage and even throws a damage orb...
Take a deep breathe and relax, the game slows down after a while when you do that and your decision making is more decisive. This player needs to relax a bit and then they should be able to climb.

If you tell me as a tank you’re going in, I’ll try and support you pushing, but you gotta be on those mics. But this is the beginning of the match. So probably hasn’t recognized the pace for the tank yet.
I'm always impressed to see these reactionary-far away-aiming into a corner Moira ults 90% of the Moira ults I see (myself playing her included) are often popped when she's ready to go into the backline and try to delete 1 to 2 squishies, feels a little awkward using such a tool like a LW tree
They overestimate their damage compared to their Zarya's I think (95/s at 0, 190/s at 100 energy, compared to Moira's 65/s). Almost all the time Zarya died, Moira was out of range/LoS tunneling trying to get an elim.
25:28 Moira's primary fire healing. There should be a sort of checklist when you are going to heal someone. Are they 50%+ HP? Then you should only be healing in relatively small taps. Moira does a ton of burst healing and the healing effect lingers for 3 seconds after the initial burst. Are they behind cover? Small taps should still be fine, even if they are literally 1 hp. If you really are in a hurry then one burst of heal followed by taps can work. If they are a tank you should really consider using a healing orb alongside the heals if they are really low HP otherwise you are probably going to either take forever to heal them or you are going to need to use your entire bar lol. Are they low HP outside of cover? This is when you need to pull the stops and try to keep them alive at all costs, especially if they are your tank. Of course this can be situational, some people WILL be unsavable even with both heal orb and healing being held down on them. But this is the time to be doing what this Moira did here. This Moira just used the rest of their bar to heal a 100% HP Zarya. They also used a healing orb when they had basically no healing bar left. By the time the Zarya actually needed the heals, they were completely out of healing bar.
22:26 Note here on this Dva ult. To know whether or not you're in death range of the Dva ult, all you need to do is look at the 'Danger' indicator on the Dva ult. If you can't see it then you are entirely out of range of it. If it's orange it means that it will deal some amount of damage to you but will NOT kill you. If it's red then that means you are in the 'kill zone' of the ult. In this given moment, if I were this Moira, I would play just up enough that I'm still dealing damage to the enemy team, but I'm not in the 'kill zone' of the Dva ult. As long as nobody else is shooting at me then it doesn't really matter if I take a bit of damage from it since I'll heal back up pretty quickly anyway. It's MUCH more important to be doing damage to the enemy team in this instance. Even if you can't get close enough without being in range of the ultimate, try blocking the Dva ult with cover while still pressuring the enemy team.

Pharah is in my top 3 most played dps, im not top 500, and this has never happened to me.

Yeah it reduced damage done and affected ults, but it was similar to Virus as it required aim, only went straight forward, and I think could only single-target. It seemed like it was a lot less fun for everyone (Moira as well as others), so they returned to the OW1 orb which is what we have now as well. Pretty sure enfeebling didn't even last the whole beta but I could be wrong.

The easiest hero to play and still played wrong here. Don't think they realise how much healing and damage Moira can do.

"Enfeebling Orb" not harm, but reduce the damage you recieved?
Holy FUCK that's a dumb idea! So glad they went with the poison orb instead!
Yeah it reduced damage done and affected ults, but it was similar to Virus as it required aim, only went straight forward, and I think could only single-target. It seemed like it was a lot less fun for everyone (Moira as well as others), so they returned to the OW1 orb which is what we have now as well. Pretty sure enfeebling didn't even last the whole beta but I could be wrong.

Moira ONE TRICKS ARE not capable of going to higher ranks. At masters, you can only use her against a genji, AND at CERTAIN choke points. That’s it.
Not even, I make it my goal to diff moiras on genji, they are to cocky and really easy to one shot
