You saved my sanity. I am new to all of this and someone gave me a Pi and all this wiring to mess around with. The bag had a BUNCH of these blue cheap resistors in it with no labels. I have spend an hour looking up codes and I quicky found out that I had no clue which end was which end with no way to find out! Well this test is awesome. you saved me! Thanks!

Im VERY new to all of this and I have these 5 band resistors. I understand how to read them but when there's 5 bands and none of the ends are metallic, with no gap, I don't know I'm supposed to know. This is so frustrating but I'm glad Im not the only person confused

Yeah you're really not. Personally I just use a multimeter. it's saved me time and eye strain. On these cheap resistors, it's super hard to figure out.

I've got exactly the same issue, glad to see I'm not alone lol

I have a box of resistors and a chart to identify the bands. The 4 bands are easy, but these 5 bands are impossible to tell the direction.

agree with keep-it-cheap, but an auto-ranging meter is worth its weight in gold here.
especially since the tolerance gap is variable, and the colors can be hard to distinguish against that blue background.
    "just get out the meter"

same problem here. I even got a this strange blue resistor that starts with black followed by red, violet, silver and brown. This one got opened and I don't know what's the value .

came back to electronics after around 20 years and got these resistors in the kit I purchased and... WTF!? I thought there is something wrong with me, but looks like its just a cheap crap.

@@lucas.ludziejewski sadly I'm still using these horrible things, I call them single use resistors now

@@HamedAdefuwa Looks like everything now is getting low-cost, single-use. This is the "ecology" they are talking about. Take care and thx for your videos.
