Thank you sooo much for this tutorial! I’ve been looking everywhere for guidance and had not found it until now. I have painted 20 metal signs with black blackboard paint. I want to add white letters and doodle border frames to the black signs. These will be outdoors under the elements (rain and UV rays). I tried stencil w spray paint but did not look right. Then tried cutting contact paper on cricut but became very tedious. I’m excited that this method will look great and with the right type of white paint, it will withstand the elements. Thank you so much!
Appreciate your kindness in sharing your technique. Easy to watch and I learned a few tips. Thank you! Do you put any kind of sealer on your wood before or after painting?
Can you pre stain the wood before hand painting and then put urethane on top? I need a durable outdoor sign. If so, what paint will stick on top of stain? Thanks
We just use regular craft paint. TBH, the paint at Walmart is my preference. :) I happen to like the matte finish, versus the gloss. It just feels better to me.
Well Ricky, got the wood, got paint at Walmart per your suggestion. Went to Micheals for transfer paper. Mostlty blank stares, they had some very thin, folded 8 times. Not very user friendly, I dont think i will even attempt to use it since it will puncture over barnwood. You transfer paper looks much stronger. Where did you get yours??
@@phillipbarry166 LOL! Yes, it’s pretty thin stuff, and yeah, it will prob puncture on the barnwood. You have to find the right “feel” for the amount of pressure to use. Give it a try…I’m sure you can do it.👍😁
Awesome technique my friend. Thank you for sharing this!😉
Thank you! Cheers!

Sometimes. Not before, but after, we might spray with a matte clear sealant. Polyurethane, if it's going to be outside.
Have you posted a video yet on how to make and print an acrobat poster to use for signs?
Yes ma'am. That's what this process describes.

@@AppleValleyFarmGA thank you for replying. Your video has helped me figure out how to trace to wood.

@@phillipbarry166 FYI, the transfer paper I use comes in typical 8 1/2 X 11 sheets. That’s a lot easier to manage, if you can find it.
