  • ‘Doing the robot’ on the dancefloor would look more like ‘doing the worm’ if the dance move was inspired by soft robots! Soft robotics is an exciting sub-category of robotics that mimics the mechanics of nature - utilizing soft materials moved by pressure systems. Soft robotics engineer Jim Neilan and mechanical engineering intern Anthony Dempsey explain the benefits of soft robotics in human spaceflight and some of the skills that make for a good soft robotics engineer.

We’re launching STEM Engagement to new heights with learning resources that connect teachers, students, parents and caregivers to the inspiring work at NASA. Join us as we apply science, technology, engineering and mathematics to explore space, improve aeronautics, examine Earth and strive to land the first woman and first person of color on the Moon with the Artemis program.

Still seems like you need a rigid structure for holding itself up
I guess robots are copying not just the neurons in our brain but also our musculoskeletal system as well
    So exciting!
