Installed the upgrade fan today in our 2004 SSR after it recently overheated. Your video was absolutely perfect! Thanks a million! Plan on purchasing other Simple Engineering products and following your excellent videos.
followed your steps one by one and it was great. i fixed my overheating problem. i thought it was the thermarstat . have to pull out again because it didnt seat properly and has a slight drip. installed a new coolant resivrior and cap hopefully i have solved my over heating problems. thank you and simple engineering.
Just replaced mine on my 05 6 sp ,just picked it up in July, been putting recommended SSR parts from simple engineering now just waiting for my cargo light whenever they get some in
@@RetroCarGuy530 fit like a glove, had more trouble gettin my AC belt on, tensioner felt like it hit it was hitting something when I depressed it, had to squirt some lube on it must have been dirty all these years but both belts on fan on all works good thanks for the good product, didn't need the extra plug but that's okay I'll keep it for a spare, thanks Mike
@Kyle Foreman, I'm not Mike Moro from Simple Engineering. I'm Robert Baller from RetroCarGuy530. I've created most of the installation videos for Mike's products on his website. Mike says he has a lot of people think that the guy in the videos is Mike, but it's me Robert. :)
@@RetroCarGuy530 oops ,any way tks for u guys an the nice SSR family too keep these hotrods running.yep so far had my ABS redone from ,Fix it,heat shield, spoiler, fan, new belts, spare ignition, hopefully new trunk led when available. Tks for all ur videos Robert..
Great video. I just bought a 2003 SSR yesterday and drove it 11 hours home and a few times the engine temps got too hot for my liking. I am going to get one of the Simple Engineering fans. Any recommendations on where I could have the ECU reprogrammed to have the fan come on at. lower temp than the factory tune? I don't like those 230 degree temps.
I don't have any specific recommendations for tuners / shops to tune the SSR. When I had my 2004 SSR, I used a DiabloSport iTune2 i2050 50 state legal version. The tunes provided by that device (which is an old device at this point in time) had lower fan on temps in the tune in the device. The reason I used that specific tuner device was that it had a California CARB legal (EO Number D-770) tune that could be used in California.
@@RetroCarGuy530 Thanks for the quick response. I bought the car in California but I live in Phoenix so I do have to have an emissions test, but it''s not as bad as in CA. I will look at tuners. Would be nice to have the capability to do that myself. I'm up for studying to learn it but I hope the learning curve isn't too steep on the tuners.
I've been very pleased with the Simple Engineering SE-MFK-1 radiator cooling fan. I've installed one in two different SSRs that I've owned and I've installed that same fan into several SSRs for other SSR owners.
@@RetroCarGuy530 i have an 04 ssr and it just started to overheat but only when i sit in traffic and still has the factory fan i belive…. im going to try that one see how itll go.. thanks

Congrats on getting your SSR last month! I wish I still had my 2004 SSR. I had to sell it last year to keep my business going. 😦

Does SSr also have fan clutch or just electric fan?
The SSR only has an electric radiator cooling fan.
Followed your video and got the new fan installed, easy drop in design. Working great now
how is it working so far?
