  • What's up, Skate Fam?! In this vlog episode I'll be showing off what us city skaters like to do! We run into some random skaters who had the same idea we did, and also meet up with the DFW Inline Skate Club while they're out riding road bikes (I told them they were wearing the wrong skates that night)!
    This is not an educational or informational video. It's purely meant to show off skating fun and encourage skaters to be safe in these scary times! Stick around after this city roll for more fun skating content and make sure you're subscribed for skating tutorials in the future!

    Let me preface this video with some information.
    The city I skated in is not on lock down. Businesses are mostly still open, and the footage from this video was shot days ago at a point in time where people were still out and about on the regular. That morning, we went out for breakfast and all the restaurants in the city were still functioning as usual. It wasn’t until the time I was editing the video that things started to ramp up.
    So take this video as exactly what it is.. a piece of skate related entertainment meant for others around the world who are in worse places and stuck inside with a need for something to do. It is not meant to encourage you to go out into dangerous situations.
    I have plenty of footage saved from the past few weeks and intend to use that to create new content for awhile. Stay safe everyone, so we can all live to skate another day.

    This is organic city skating, sweet flows, meeting like minded people and having a down right good time.

    Combat boots with plates mounted were common in the 80's when i worked at a rink. I mounted quite a few with "loose" or "free" ball bearing white lighnings! LOL

    You captured my absolute favorite aspect of night city skating, making friends with all the other crazies you come across! Some good pals were made through the most random encounters. Fun times and beautiful skate my friends. Stay safe 💞

    This is great footage with the Insta. Your voice could be used for detective stories... Really nice. I'm glad I also saved up some footage to edit. Hope the lockdown won't be long. Anywho, I'm off to stall on the kitchen stand 😂

      It may go that way eventually, but the spread has not yet exploded here like it has in other places. So far, the city has stopped restaurants from allowing people to dine inside (take out orders only), and banned the gathering of groups larger than 50 people.

    Man I miss night skating...or skating altogether as it is.
    Going from curfew to lockdown and back to curfew here in France, only relentless training in my small parking lot keeps me from going insane. I hope I can manage to get some of that fluid dancy way of rolling you have by the time we can go out !

    Here in France, despite the nationwide lockdown, I can skate provided that I'm alone and I stay in my neighbourhood, so for now, it's still okay. Question is, how long will it last?
    Thanks for your videos and take care.

    Nice flow Dude! I am completely safe from human interactions whilst skating because I'm always 100% alone when I do it. It would be nice to stumble across a fellow blader but sadly no one, and I mean no one near me skates.

    Do you ever use quads for city skating?

  • @pixelputty
    @pixelputty 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    What do you recommend for quad wheels for city skating. I’ve used inline wheels on my quads after watching a guy in San Francisco do it. It eases out the bumps but there’s no stability turning as you’d expect. Is there a better option for cruising?

    • @DeezSkates
      @DeezSkates  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wheels that are thin, with a larger radius are best for outdoors. I use Atom Poisons in 59x38mm, but those take some skill as they have a smaller radius. A popular outdoor wheel is the Atom Pulse. Soft and sticky for grip and handling bumps. 65x37mm. Tall and slender. This will be a more stable option than making your skates into quad-lines. Haha. Cheers.

    Hi David. I've been meaning to ask you if there is anything that you do to get such movement and flexibility in your hips because I am trying real hard to do that split leg trick where you have one blade facing each way. I'm only asking because every time I watch your videos I see how easy you do that trick and also transition so any help would be great.
    Thanks
    Darren

    • @DeezSkates
      @DeezSkates  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Darren, there are stretches you can do to help you with that. Look up figure skating stretches for hip flexibility and that will be a good start to finding what you need.

    I'm a US citizen in China that's been here throughout the entire outbreak.
    Quarantine only helps if everyone is on board. Yes it sucks, but please make a point to be part of the solution.
    Remember, compliance isn't necessarily to protect you, but to protect the public. You may be an asymptomatic carrier that transmits it to someone that requires ICU as a consequence of your actions, and that bed may no longer be available to the man who has a heart attack.
    Don't disregard your local laws or curfew. Figure out what you CAN do within your city's specific circumstances. Be proactive and part of the solution. Show solidarity. And be safe. Use some physical barrier to help reduce spread on the off chance you're an asymptomatic carrier (mask or or scarf for example)

    • @DeezSkates
      @DeezSkates  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Still have to live life.. just try to do it when you don't have to be around many people. It's not possible for us to stay away from each other entirely.. places are still open and people still have to go to work and make a living.

    • @CrimsonStrider
      @CrimsonStrider 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeezSkates I'm not criticizing anything you did, especially because I don't know what the situation in Dallas is. I'm just pointing something out. Something everyone should remember as time goes on. That's also why I specifically pointed out knowing what's happening in an individual's specific city and being compliant.
      My city was in a soft lockdown for a 8 weeks, medium lockdown for 4. And a full lockdown for 2 weeks (unable to leave my apartment complex).
      My community did well and things seem normal for now. But as the lockdown progresses, people are bound to become stressed out.
      Someone communities didn't obey the quarantine. Maybe in a smaller area that's not a big deal. But my comment was direct towards the community, some of whom may live in an urban area with a outbreak ready to happen.
      The greatest risk to public moving forward will be asymptomatic carriers that are still infectious once life returns to normal.
      My only recommendation would be to wear a mask or some barrier not to protect you, but to protect others. Continue all other hygiene habits (dont touch face, wash hands, etc)
      As an individual a mask does very little. I understand. But as a community it will help reduce (note I'm not saying prevent) transmission, which is important in keeping medical services from being overloaded.
      again. Take note. I'm not saying YOU did anything wrong. I'm just highlighting something I think more people should be aware of and consider.

    • @CrimsonStrider
      @CrimsonStrider 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@InfamousInternetVillainJackSix As mentioned, I wasn't criticizing him. It was just a heads up to every other skater, that may be in a city that's under some sort of lockdown. It sucks. I've already been through a quarantine and there's likely to be another one if things continue as they are here.
      All I'm pointing out is whatever your city's current situation is, work with them as best as you can.
      Edit: Removed a sentence that might have come across as harsh.
