Why are people roasted for not having irons at Gundersite? Because most people go to such courses to make themselves feel better about their prepping, and the people who actually use their crap and the limits of their gear will have it setup correctly.

i would just like to state for the record that even though i did make the intentional choice to bring a poverty-tier PSA lower (that already has an abusrd number of rounds through it) to a 1,000-round urban rifle course, its working just fine. (i did end up swapping the Mepro stuff for an ACOG though).

If you're right handed and the lower is in spec, i don't think it makes a damn bit of difference who finished milling the lower.

@@BallisticAviationYeah man, as long as it's in spec a lower is a lower. I've seen dudes that started with "poverty pony" builds upgrade to BCM or Geissele uppers and still run the absolute shit out of "low tier" lowers.
The biggest "risk" with lower name brand lowers is that you run a higher risk of them not being in spec, but as long as they are it's no big deal.

It sounds like he's only ever seen the Geissele factory assembled tabbed rails/uppers which don't have the anti rotation tabs on the sides of the rear part of the rail like the standalone Mk16 rails do. So basically he's just ignorant.
I guarantee this guy isn’t spending hours in his basement researching parts and building out rifles everyday like a lot of the people watching this video so he’s going to know what tends to fail a lot but not every intricacy of every ar part and accessory

I think Jack is a little confused about the Super Duty having alignment tabs and Mk16 rails that are specifically tabbed to fit them vs their regular Mk16 rails that don't come with these. The regular Mk16 when built onto a standard upper has a tiny gap between the receiver and the rail and the Super Duty has no gap. That's what I think he sees there that "just doesn't look right" and he's wrong, and that's ok. I don't think he knows this difference, but I would also guess he wouldn't care. I have two URGI clones and I promise you, they run just fine without the alignment tabs, and USASOC agrees.
His reasoning for his judgement is the name brand of the accessories? That’s a little ridiculous. Just because he isn’t familiar with certain brands doesn’t mean theyre bad 😂

I only think the iron sights is a tick for people who are instructors is because a massive percentage of the people taking classes from Gunsite or Thunder Ranch are basically treating life like an RPG, and that, rather than simply being proactive and keeping up with their stuff on their own. What do you bet, ten minutes of dry fire a day (HECK PER WEEK) could keep people ahead on their batteries and gun handling.

To me, you don't need irons if you have other options.
The whole point of irons is a backup sighting system, and if you have a scope with an etched reticle (so battery life is meaningless) as well as a red dot that not only has battery life of tens of thousands of hours, that physically warns you long before the battery actually dies, but also has a solar failsafe AND is on a separate mount as well, and BOTH optics AND both mounts are high quality.... you don't need damn irons.
