  • A hospital visit and an emotional goodbye as I begin the last 100km of the Camino de Santiago ➡️ WATCH PART 2: • Solo Walking the LAST ...
    This week on the vlog, after nearly 2 months of walking, I reach Sarria and begin the most crowded section of the Camino de Santiago - the last 100km! It's been a wild ride and in a way, it feels like I'm re-starting my Camino all over again. While I'm anxious to complete this experience, there is something in me that says to remember to slow down and ask what else I am supposed to learn before I reach Santiago de Compostella.
    ✌️ ❤️ THANKS FOR WATCHING!

    We enjoyed your videos but it's so sad to see so many people on the French route - it's become a bit of a circus. Also with so many cafés and bars every 5-10km, it's lost a lot of it's initial spirit of adventure. We walked the Via de la Plata a few years ago (>1000km) from Seville and I feel it gives a far better and more realistic camino experience. The days are generally much longer (40km+) and virtually no support un between stages but it means you really have to think about what you're carrying such as food and water. Also, at the southern end, Extramadura is about twice as long as the Meseta with temperatures well into the 40s during summer. I guess it depends on what you're looking for but if it's solitude (saw no more than 10 pilgrims in 2 months) and some time to reflect, then I think this a much better choice. Just my 10c

    Really interesting to watch this. I want to do this on my own to make me braver but I want to meet people along the way. I'm older than you are though, and I wonder if people would be as friendly to me. On the plus side I used to work in Spain so I have the language and I'm European. I don't know whether to just walk the last 100k, see how I get on and then and only then, assess with a view to doing the whole thing.

    • @vanhallaadventures

      I found I was one of the youngest people on the Camino until the last 100k. I find everyone ids really kind for the most part - you meet so many people. You just say HI and most people love to chat. I would suggest going for whatever is in your heart. Training for the Camino is VERY helpful if you are unsure of your physical capabilities. I think if you have time and go slow, you can do it!

      @vanhallaadventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for asking :) It has been a bit sine I recorded this and watching and editing this video brought me back to this moment. I feel proud and sad all at once. Sad in that the physical walk is over yet proud I did what I said I would do. And I learned so much about myself - it changed the way I approach life. There will be an upcoming vlog about all of that in about 1 month. My life has changed pretty drastically after this - too much to write in a comment but I am happy to share on the vlog. I appreciate you asking such great insightful questions.

      @@vanhallaadventures My most important learning when I walked the Camino in the autumn 2019 was to start trusting others. I've had a challenging relationship with my father and perceived that as being abandoned by him, so my feeling had been that if I can't trust my own parent - then who can I trust? During the first days of my walk several strange things happened so I really had to ask for, and rely on help from other pilgrims and after a few days my trust issue was gone. :)
      What I miss the most is the camaraderie with all the other people from all over the world that I made friends with and also the feeling that every new day is a new adventure - a new page to write in the book of my life story. I had never been in that part of Spain before and not in such rural areas so I didn't know what to expect of the next day. There were beautiful days, as well as challenging and hard days. My plan was to continue to Finisterre, but two days before I came to Santiago my 86 year old father called me and asked if I would be home for Father's Day and also the rain was pouring down during my days in Santiago, so I decided to go home earlier than planned. That was as if the Universe tried to help me because my father died just a week after I got home and if I had continued to Finisterre I would never again had seen my father before he past away. During his last years we had managed to heal our relationship and I'm so happy about that! I think that grieving a person that you both love and in the same time haven't forgiven is really difficult and can be hard to move on from. Thank you for sharing your experience of the Camino in your vlogg!

    vanhalla adventures, la música flamenca andaluza que pones de fondo al transitar por Galicia, es un despropósito. Estás caminando por Galicia, un país del Estado español que no tiene nada que ver con los tópicos españoles clásicos: corridas de toros, flamenco, feria de Sevilla, siesta, san fermines, etc. Tenmos cultura e idioma propio y, por supuesto, música autóctona. Escuchar rasgueos de guitarra flamenca (muy respetable y hermosa) sobre un fondo de paisaje gallego es, como he dicho, un despropósito. Acceder a Portomarín con esos rasgueos duele el alma ... y nuestro río padre, el Miño, en el horizonte.
