      @@TheSnyds Great! I'll keep an eye out for that video. For now I've only heard complaints about the interior quality, mainly the leather quality. Not really a concern for me plus I plan on going for a test drive in a few weeks to see for myself. It'd be great to hear about the overall performance or anything that sticks out as a potential downside from someone who owns it and drives it on a daily basis.

    My 2022 Insight EX is about one year old. Fuel economy in the chilly state of Maine is 55 mpg April through Oct, and 43 mpg Nov-March. Much better in town where the EV kicks in more than on the interstate. Highway driving above 65 mph or cold weather craters my mileage. Going around town just running errands I've hit over 70 mpg numerous times. Notice that the EX has slightly smaller wheels than the Touring, giving it an advantage of a few more mpg. So far it runs like a fine watch.

    • @noice1983
      @noice1983 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually it's not the cold weather alone, it's that folk will use the heater which obviously uses more gas.
      Drove a 2007 Prius in hot and cold weather and realized you can get the cabin somewhat warm, turn off the heater for awhile until it gets too cold to bear, then turn it on and repeat, it saved a lot of gas and got back to around the same mpg was getting in the summer time.

    How would you say this holds up in your experience? I've driven nothing but Subarus and have no reliability issues. I recently purchased a 21 Forester but looking to trade for this after these outrageous fuel prices and it's disappointing fuel economy. I've drivin 16,000 miles in only 5 months of ownership so I really need something that will he cheaper for me me drive but also be reliable and will last.

      I own a 2016 Subaru Forester and a 2021 Insight Touring near Raleigh N.C. My commute is a 32 mile mostly rural round trip through rolling hills, not more than 45mph and occasional stop and go traffic. On bad days in the Forester my average would be 25-26mpg, on days when traffic is light, 32mpg. With the Insight a bad day is 55mpg and a great day is 65mpg. But if you are doing a lot of highway driving at posted speed limits the Insight will do at least the EPA estimate which is 45mpg. I have consistently gotten 48mpg driving 70mph on a trip to Florida. Our overall mpg for the Florida trip was 50mpg. But if you are consistently driving well over 70mph then your mileage will go down significantly in an Insight. But then so does the Forester. 😏

    I have the check from my bank to buy this car. I’m just waiting for any dealership in the state of California to not mark up the price thousands over MSRP. I’m not paying $4,000 over MSRP just to have the bubble pop by next year and be massively upside down on the loan. I would have already bought one if the price was fair within a 3 hour drive from here.
    Spare tires reduce the fuel economy by 1%. That’s why there’s only a flat repair kit. This model also has a gas cap because pressurized fuel tanks also get better gas mileage.
    Does the regenerative braking reset itself every time you start the car in normal or economy mode after setting it with the steering wheel paddles?

      @@TheSnyds I found a hidden function I didn’t know about. There’s an option for automatic emergency brake engagement when the car is shut off. The e-brake also automatically disengages when you step on the accelerator. To turn on the option, power on the car and engage the parking brake without stepping on the brake. Hold up on the e-brake switch until you hear a beep. Release switch and pull up again within 3 seconds until you hear 2 beeps, then release. The emergency brake will now automatically engage when you shut the car off.

      Nice! Took care of my 2007 Prius and it got me to 250k miles and probably could've gotten more had it not sat around during the 2020 CV19 nonsense. Drive for Uber so put a lot of miles on every year, looking for new hybrids and the Honda Insight as well as the Accord Hybrid, both stood out to me, love the ninja star rims and overall look of the vehicle and seems it nets the same amount of mpg as the prius? What mpg are you getting?

    • @juliangarcia8780
      @juliangarcia8780 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @noice1983 I'm currently getting 55 miles to the gallon. I was doing doordash with it because it was definitely great vehicle for it. People complain that it's loud but it honestly isn't. You definitely won't be disappointed with either choice. My wife drives a 2023 Honda CRV hybrid and that vehicle is also super amazing. We had a 2022 Honda Pilot and traded it in for the CRV. Get a hybrid. You will save on gas and Honda is just a great company to buy from. We have had excellent service at the dealership when we go in for oil changes. The look definitely beats the prius and the space in it is great. My brother is 6"2 and his girlfriend is 6'0 and they both fit excellent well in the backseat with a ton of leg space. The truck is big as well. You won't regret it honestly.

    DO NOT BUY THIS FUCKING LEMON!!!!!
    I purchased the 2022 Insight Touring package three weeks ago. I purchased it for a daily driver and for road trips around Oregon, specifically to Mt Hood where my family has a tiny ski cabin.
    With guests in the vehicle, it is unable to achieve and maintain highway speeds without the engine redlining with any more than one person in the car. It can barely make it up the 2-3% graded area, and I was terrified to try the 6% graded area. It felt INCREDIBLY unsafe and underpowered. My brother and I both thought something was slipping. The engine revs dramatically and almost no power is sent to the wheels.
    I have no idea how I can use it to carpool. If you know the Portland area, it struggles to get up the west hills of through the tunnel up to Skyline on the way to Beaverton with just me (155 lbs). If I had two people or more in the car, I would feel horribly unsafe.
    I took it to the shop and they said it was working as designed. This is completely unacceptable!
    If you live in a completely flat area or only drive on city streets, yeah it will probably be fine. If you have any hills whatsoever, you are fucked.

    • @jm31828
      @jm31828 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, that is crazy- so sorry to hear that! I know the Portland area well (I live in Seattle), and I was seriously considering getting one of these, partly to get better MPG in these crazy times on our weekend road trips, which include driving up a lot of hills/mountains. If it's going to perform like this, and possibly not really do any better than my current car's MPG in those situations (40 mpg), it wouldn't be worth the cost.
      What did you end up doing- did you go to another shop for a 2nd opinion?

    • @pma55
      @pma55 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The gas engine running at high RPM is just charging the battery. It's only the electric motor that is driving the wheels. It is an unnerving sound going up a hill, but the gas
      motor is not working to push the car.

    • @noice1983
      @noice1983 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Apparently the key to stopping the HIGH REVS when going up hills or mountains is to put it in SPORT MODE
