I dislike when Estate Sale Companies do the sneaky "DVD Sign" meant each disc... and you spend a ton of time sorting and than they don't really work with you. Did you leave your contact info so at the end of the sale they can contact you and work a deal for the rest? (That has really worked for me) Really good pick up!

Dave, Nice haul The midnight special run is sweet. I have the three Dog night video sitting in my to watch pile before putting it up. I think lotting the Depalmas is a good idea. I do that with Mel Brooks, Tarantino, Kubrick and Kevin Smith. I just purchased an 800 DVD lot that I am still sorting through. The best DVD I have found so far was an N SYNC's Challenge For the Children. One listed on EBAY for $90 and I have sold one in the past.
Ooooh, I've not heard of that N SYNC Disc. Score! I wish I had more time to watch all these music DVDs, that's for sure.

I've had that problem before where they counted each of the cases. I also run into All dvd's 1.00 each sign then they would count each of the disks inside of the cases. Which added up to new prices almost.
One other place you can sometimes stumble on media: library sales. I hit up one in my area (I'm also in WA) and found they had a ton of DVDs. I'm more of a book guy but I found a couple decent discs after scanning ones that seemed more obscure or limited release. Now I'm tuning into your channel to learn a bit more about the category :D

@QuarterFlips check out the event schedules of local library systems, e.g. KCLS. Get there a little early. They sometimes have "fill a bag for $5" at certain times in the sale.

Nice haul Dave. I can tell you're a really good reseller because you didn't turn your nose up at the Barry Manilow and Air Supply type dvds. A real reseller doesn't let his personal tastes dictate what he buys. I once had a really big guy wearing police clothes pop in my shop and ask if I had any Bay City Rollers stuff. You never know. And, you can choose the worst musical artist in the world and somewhere out there is their biggest fan.

I found a series i sold for 100 amd picked up for 1 dollar. But alot of dvd's make small dollars and adds up too.

Yo QF, are you selling these on Ebay? I sold a sealed Godzilla VHS on there the other day, and felt absolutely shafted after the 14.95% final value fees (which is actually closer to 16% depending on your sale price due to sales tax). What do you do for a living? I resell full-time.. mainly video games, but anything I consider "cool". It is not the same dream that it was 5 - 10 years ago. 99% of youtube resellers are selling a dream. I respect that you mentioned that in your video. I am trying to get approved on Amazon, but that's a task for me to provide a utility bill because I rent from my aunt and I pay my Dad cash to be on his family plan.. It's just cheaper that way 🤷♂️. I think the margins will be similar with FBA, but having to do a fraction of the shipping would be nice. I was always most successful working other jobs, sourcing product in the summer at its lows, and then going all in during Q4 and Q1. My strategy right now is to continue listing slower sell-through rate items (some good if it's a newer product that I don't want to sit on), and then I'll list all of my best items at a premium around late September. Sorry for the rant, thinking about growth.
Hey! Yes, I am selling mainly on eBay, and yes, fees are outrageous. I just take them into account when pricing my items. I also sell records and CDs on Discogs, and then supplement my income with deliveries using an APP called Roadie. (I'm also a writer, but that rarely pays much).

I've noticed a lot of the estate sales ran in general are extremely greedy. I rarely go to them. You did score pretty good, especially with the Midnight Special DVDs.
The Midnight Special DVDs are a lot of fun. Is there an early-mid 80s equivalent?
@@QuarterFlips not that I can recall. I will occasionally come across an 80's music video compilation that may have 6-10 videos on it.

These type of sales are ridiculous. Do they realize that the chance of selling that stuff to other people isn’t that great? Also not cool that they were so suspicious of you.

I will do that once they are the cheapest items I have listed in my store and I need the space. It's a journey.
The past few years when i hit up yard sales and flea markets. The standard pricing is $1 per DVD and $2-$3 per box set. But I'll come across some people who price box sets at $1per disc. 😬
I think $1 DVDs are reasonable, especially considering that most of them won't resell and only really have watch value. Which is what they were meant for in the first place.
There's a thrift store around here that often has good DVDs, but they charge $3.99 per, and they also do that adding up disc thing. It's nuts.
Your asking way too much for these there used one of them you said was a rental do you have any idea what used DVDs and rental DVDs go through I got better DVDs and Blu rays from Dollar tree for A dollar a piece Brand New Sealed
It has everything to do with the rarity of a specific DVD. For 99% of them out there, you are completely right.
dude your hauls are so depressing. I think you would make way more money flipping burgers at some burger chain. If you are a DVD specialist why are you buying junk? I don't list any DVDs less than $10
I think you not listing any DVDs less than $10 is a good plan. I'm happy if that's the standard you set for you and you follow it. Now I'll go scratch the word "specialist" off my business card. ;)
