I'm sorry but that box of tissues didn't go anywhere near Busters' head - at 48:58 the box can be seen clearly in the air travelling UPWARDS not forwards because of the compounded forces of the car riding over the first block. Surprised none of the team noticed. Btw - the Mary Rose was a Tudor ship - like built for King Henry VIII in 1511 - Robin the Hood ( if he lived at all ) considered himself a subject of King Richard I (1057 - 99) and very annoying to King John I (1066 - 1216 )but what's 400 years between friends? Hats off though and true kudos to the whole team for sticking at their tasks - you have been wonderfully instructive to the average Joe & Jill public who mostly willing believe stuff in myth and movies ( B's & C's - not yours!) Popped back in to add - came across someone who'd been in a pub that was bombed by a anti-gay terrorist - unbeknown to the perpetrator - a straight wedding party was in and several killed including the bride - the person I met has had over twenty operations to remove really surprising items such as the contents of an ashtray - cigarette ends as ballistic objects.
Not only is the arrow split possible, I've seen those happen. But the modern arrows are not from wood but carbon or aluminium, so they split differently. Wooden arrows will split according to the grain, and it's unlikely that a wooden arrow would follow the grain from nock to tip. But a modern arrow will definitely split. My old archery club used to have a wall where people could hang their split arrows. In 50 or so years, they had maybe 30 split arrows there.
The arrows of old did not have bull nose points but a proper arrow like a hunter would use. Arrow shafts were GROWN as perfectly straight timber as were lances. I live in the middle of a area where Straight timber was grown and huge amounts of charcoal were produced from the scrap. Kleenex boxes in the UK for some reason have metal or plastic covers covered in fake gem stones which triples or more their weight, have seen them go through a windscreen in a head-on.
the problem is that they are trying to pin down a medieval myth that could have been done with any kind of arrow and any kind of bow... and there are about 30 combinations I can think of in terms of arrow-head and metal/material used in the construction of the arrow that might lead to a split or non-split. When an arrow meets the back of another arrow, even with a razor-sharp point and even if the grain was straight, the impact itself, if not micro-meter perfect... will ALWAYS lead to a glance or partial split. The target arrow would have to have some sort of ability to guide the arrow down it's shaft for this to be plausible... and a straight grain would never be enough to do that.
Arrow splitting is definitely a thing. I’m the proud owner of an Excalibur cross bow. After purchasing it, it didn’t take long for me to realize I wanted a new/fresh target with every shot. My crossbow is scoped vastly improving the accuracy. I’ve destroyed many arrows simple because I fired at a target with an arrow in it. While a split arrow maybe rare it is definitely a thing.
Yep, ruined many arrows years ago when I used to do competitive archery. It's cool the first time and then you realise you just destroyed two $50 arrows and then you're sad.
Kari doesn't seem to understand the difference between "possible" and "possible on command". There are plenty of myths that were plausible or confirmed, though unlikely.
They wouldn't be able to verify it otherwise. Imagine watching someone shoot arrows all day long for them to claim he couldn't do it because it is a once in a lifetime shot
An axe getting flung into your head might be lethal. Who would've thought.
Ah the beginnings of the old reliable(ish) towing steering rig
I love the arrow split myths
They need to try this with Indian taxi drivers tissue boxes which is made of metal or wood, now that would leave you with a spiliting headache 😂
With the axe test, talk about a "splitting" headache!!! hahahaha....... All jokes aside, if that happens, you're DEAD!!
What´s the first thing, going through the mind of a tuning car enthusiast at a crash? The rear spoiler.

So, about 1 in 3,000 shots chance indeed...?

Show me a video of it otherwise I don't believe

Grew up watching this show with my grandpa.
It´s this the first episode with Grant?
First one where he's shown his face, probably, but I think he was behind the scenes before.
I think 21 is the first
so their "arrow firing robot" is a side-ways crossbow...
i had that very same type of toshiba laptop in the late 2000s lol

41:25 Good for Mythbusters to ask Jesus for advice.
Robin Hood is buried on a private estate about half a mile from where I live in mirfield, west Yorkshire .
With Shergar and Lord Lucan?

I drove my 1976 Volare' with one finger that's how well aligned it was
Only Adam would use any excuse to show off stilts.
1818 wasn't Victorian.
