    There is a part of your argument I disagree with. Taking in more protein than needed does not make you lose muscle mass. Any extra protein you dont need will come out through digestion. You said it yourself, if your bulking use your goal B.W. do find out protein intake. That contradicts your first point in the video. Carbs and Fats have negative effects if taken in abundance, not proteins.

    • @nichtsistkostenlos6565
      @nichtsistkostenlos6565 หลายเดือนก่อน +20

      His point is that low carbohydrate intake impacts your workout performance, which means you won't be able to go as hard in the gym to stimulate muscle growth. He's not saying that consuming carbs and fat in excess is a good idea, just that if you want to be performing your best in the gym, you should consume some amount of carbohydrates. Body builders don't ever go low carb when they're bulking, and this is exactly why.

    • @garagegoblin858

      @@nichtsistkostenlos6565thats fair. I really just took issue with the first thing he says in the video is: "You might be eating too much protein and it could be the reason you are not building muscle." I get its a catchy hook, I just thought it was misleading.

      @@garagegoblin858sure its unlikely, but some people do keto or take protein intake to the extreme, and thats who he is talking about.
      More protein doesn't mean better or "unharmful" its plenty harmful. Your kidneys wont like it, you will want to throw up, and your farts smell horrible (for a reason, its not good for you). Listen to your body not unproven advise.
      Like with everything, overdue it and you get bad effects. Protein isnt magically immune to this law.

      There are plenty of people, educated people, that disagree with him, and age plays a factor as well. 1g per pound is pretty much accepted at this point and for men in their 40's or older they may actually need more than 1g per pound. So his .75 grams per pound is not necesarilly enough.

      @jackastor5265 if you're new to working out, I think starting off at 0.75 is great, only after a week or two maybe a month, maybe less time or more time, you can try to think of ways to add more until you hit 1.0

      I think a better way to word what he is trying to say is to not be over focused on protein intake and make sure you leave room in your caloric intake for carbs because carbs are what power your workouts in order to lift efficiently for max performance in the first place. Some people eat 1.5x protein and little carbs while cutting and sacrificing their workout efficiency

    So carbs are important for providing energy, especially for more intensive workouts, and I know the meta analysis you’re referring to about there not being a benefit eating above 0.7g per lb specifically in terms of supplement induced gains, there is also not a single downside to over eating protein, and protein is the only macronutrient that you can overeat without it getting converted to fat stores pretty easily, and what you failed to clarify is all the research on recomp which shows eating way above the recommended amount to incredibly high amounts has a significant effect on how much fat gets turnt into muscle, so there is no downside to eating much more protein, you only need about 0.7g per lb but it doesn’t hurt to go further, yes don’t forget carbs but it’s wrong to say eating to much protein will inhibit gains because eating more protein doesn’t necessarily mean eating less carbs, there’s many ways to skin a cat and there isn’t one right way to do it. Also it feels like you watched that one Jeff Nippard video without looking at the research yourself or hisnother videos talking about protein. Whichbif anyone is interested in good science based nutrition and lifting information, go to either Dr Mike Israetel or Jeff Nippard directly instead of watching someone give the watered down points, missing crucial information

      Im early 40s female I dont crave food all day when I am set in a routine of Gym/Library. I think the secret is to keep very busy and to steer clear of places like 'home' or near areas that sell 'takeaway food'.. because then you 'give in' to the cravings. Also water helps. Your body gets used to the idea that ""she isnt going to feed me all day until its the end of the day" and then you have a filling meal and a late night low calorie snack. Might not work for you or others but its definitely worked for me so far.. As soon as i am sitting around the house tho? I just wanna eat.

      My advice would be more general, but since 15 is a very sensitive age for hormones/growth and everything else you can imagine, I would advise you to not take random strangers advice from the internet.
      Being in a caloric deficit when your body needs nutrients the most can mess you up really bad. Its not just about building muscle, but for your mental development as well. It can also promote eating disorders in cases.
      On the other hand there are cases of overweight teens (based on their height) who would need a slight and monitored calorie deficit. Since it is all very strongly INDIVIDUAL, having random people tell you how you should eat may end up hurting you.
      From what Ive seen nutrition becomes a lot more generalised once you are an adult and past puberty, but at your age if you think there may be something wrong with your body or your diet, the best thing you can do is have a professional or a doctor check you out in real life.
      Good luck friend!
