- Former Labor minister Graham Richardson discusses Labor Senator Fatima Payman crossing the floor to support the Greens’ motion to recognise a Palestinian State.
“I thought it was very weak,” Mr Richardson told Sky News host Sharri Markson.
“You either caucus or you don’t, and I think Albo has made a mistake on this.”

I would summarise him as being totally insecure. He tries so hard to please and be liked here and abroad. The result is weakness in his leadership. He is floundering and we are paying for it. He is also surrounded by incompetent ministers who are also hypocrites. They do not practice what they preach. Just as important is this fear of not offending the Islamic religion. It’s the opposite to Islamophobia. Christianity is and has been ridiculed but it does not resort to violence because Christ did not but preached love.

As of June 2024, the State of Palestine is recognized as a sovereign state by 145 of the 193 member states of the United Nations. The most vociferous objectors are those with a violent colonial past (similar to Israel) such as the USA, UK, France and Australia. They are also countries prominent for Islamophobia [Just have a read of some of the racist comments below towards people from Middle Eastern Muslim countries]. Senator Payne will emerge in Labor history as someone who had the guts to stand up for Palestinian self determination unlike the weasels in fear of the Jewish lobby.
