Victor Oladipo - Super Scorer 17/18 Part 1

  • Victor Oladipo was arguably the best guard in the revived Eastern Conference this pastseason (see below for statistical comparisons). Following a trade where the Oklahoma City Thunder supposedly swindled Indiana out of Paul George for next to nothing; the Pacers have proven themselves a playoff team with a shiny new All-Star. He’s always been a dynamic defender, but Oladipo’s offensive onslaught on the league has elevated his status. He took the summer to remake his game, and his body (quick shout out to the great Micah Lancaster and I’m Possible Training), and those transformations have vaulted Victor to very elite company.
    Vic finished in the top 10 in scoring (23.1 points per game) ahead of DeMar DeRozan, Joel Embiid, Bradley Beal, Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams, Jimmy Butler, Kemba Walker, and the aforementioned Paul George. He finished in the top 20 in Player Efficiency Rating (PER) and Box Plus/Minus (better than the Rookie of the Year Ben Simmons and Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert), and his Value Over Replacement Player was elite. In that category, he finished just in between former MVPs Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, with a higher rating than Steph, Chris Paul, Kyrie Irving, and Al Horford.
    In the 4th quarter, Vic turned it up to another level. He finished in the top 10 in 4th quarter scoring (minimum of 60 games played, see stats below). Ahead him are a few players who are solely relied on for scoring by their franchises (Lou Williams, Kemba Walker, Donovan Mitchell), a lot of all-NBA guys (Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard) and former and current Most Valuable Player award winners (LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, James Harden). That’s pretty exclusive company.
    One of the best aspects of his game now is his ability to create off the dribble. He’s always had a sneaky slashing game, but the ability to be low and stay low, to stay on balance while perpetually putting his defenders through move after move after move, and pull-up? That’s just next level.

    I think he finished with his right hand every drive , damn that’s hard

    • @kingphil4073
      @kingphil4073 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is not about being able to finish with both hands it's about being able to finish both sides. If you are crafty enough to finish with your right hand at the left side without getting blocked then there is no problem (Tony Parker does that)
