Me, too. I a saw the film in the US when it was first released as FLAME OVER INDIA. It made such an impression that I studied in India twice, took a masters in South Asian Studies, & now work on a romance novel between an American & a Tamil woman. How wonderful is this still ❤
British and all west looted india left and right and rest of Asia and Africa, in their rule only india faced 9 man made famines, killed more than 20 million people, Bengal and Madras famines are deadly once. And still thinking they're the saviours of the world.
What a memory you brought back ,I saw this with my Grandfather who took me to Radio City Music Hall to see it.The only memory I have of doing something together with him. Thanks Again❤
I saw this Movie with my Dad when it first came out in !959 ! Loved it then as now ! I don't think anyone does " Cheerful resolve " quite as well as Kenneth More. Impeccable !
I was trying to compile a list of my top ten films,, against a friend's, ,,, but I just kept saying,,oh I've got to have that one, this one,, etc, This is definitely up there, Herbert lom is an underrated actor, In the pink panther movies - you just see him losing it, bit by bit, Timings and subtle face expressions, Genius. Thanks 🙏
“Message to Kolhapur…Almost so perfect… wonderful cast and characters, scenery, story, excitement, superb costumes (Wilfrid Hyde-White’s immaculate Panama as he blasts away on the Gatling)… but why didn’t old Victoria’s whistle go off at the very end??”
I remember watching this at my aunties home when I was a young boy my auntie had a colour tv and she was a cliff Richard fan and he was singing for England in the euro version song contest and the BBC put this film on before the contest started great move
It’s Sunday night and I’m flicking through you tube for something to watch and my eyes light up when I see the northwest frontier. I haven’t seen this film in decades and it’s one I remember from my youth. Thank you for posting this excellent film.
I love historical adventure films! Lauren was quite the looker. The train was great, and the screenplay was high quality, as was the scenery. Thanks! Happy New Year!
I was doing some research on this film that my Grandfather took me to see in 1959 only to discover it was released on my birthday October 25th 1959,When I was 8 years old.
Dear Scottie, Happy New Year! And thank you for another Winner! Indeed outstanding. What a delightful gem. We were biting our nails at times, and sitting on the edge of our seats.. Couldn't believe how intense it was and so entertaining. Greeting from Canada 🙋🇨🇦
Was the actor who plays Gupta also in Lawence of Arabia?Looked it up ,he was ,his Caracter was called Gasim. His name was I.S.Johar,born in what is now Pakistan in 1920,died in 1984.
I saw this film in1960 on first release in South London Now that part of London the native English are a minority this film has come true in many respects .Mr Van Leiden would be pleased.
That train operator & British cap conversation.....50 miles in an hr....for the train speed is a way too fast for just a steam engine british-india 1905 train. 50 miles/hr is close to around 80km/hr.....is just impossible for trains of those days...
AN ABSOLUTELY UNMISSABLE OUTSTANDING MOVIE CHOSEN FOR YOU BY SCOTTIE McCLUE ❤❤🎉🎉

One of my all-time favourites. I have lost count of how many times I have watched it.

GUPTA is the BEST !!!!!
one of my faves, loved it cos my great uncle Adam and great uncle Willie were both officers in India, had a fascination for me.
I'am pleased to be able to watch such kind of a story in a movie where the history of my country, India is being portrayed....

Things haven't changed much in that part of the world. I was over there for a while. Even air support didn't make a difference in the end.
Thank you from USA!
