  • This insanely great show was 42 years ago? Steve comments in the show more than once about the energy level of the audience and the Denver crowd that's hard to miss.

This is the Unsung Heroes album tour so much of the material is off that. Unsung Heroes was voted best guitar album of 1981 by the readers of Guitar Player magazine. There are not a lot of tapes of The Dregs live (aka Dixie Dregs but they were calling themselves The Dregs at this particular time). I've heard that Steve was very anti-taping, which is fine, but after 42 years I hope he forgives us for being so devoted, and is OK with me sharing this here as an historic reference.
This is a gem of a recording my friend carefully made while I sat with him and other friends near the front.

I saw these guys in the mid 70’s through the mid 80’s and still follow them! The Dixie Dregs, great times and great memories!!

Thanks Michael, I updated the list. Do you know the name of the fiddle tune Mark plays at 00:20:43 ? Steve say the name even, but I can't understand what he said.

Lime Rock, a 150 year old Irish fiddle tune that's a bluegrass staple. Here's a video of me playing the traditional bluegrass arrangement of it: th-cam.com/video/msUBFZoqe68/w-d-xo.htmlsi=V2ZI2xX_yIOQqLhS@@tomproctor.archive

@@tomproctor.archive Thanks for posting! This is one of the best sounding live Dregs recordings of the many I’ve heard. I’m so stoked that they’re touring the US starting April 28 and will do four 10-gig runs. Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess will replace Steve Davidowski. This is from their road manager, who called me last night

These guys were so innovative and exciting at the time. Mark was fresh out of high school, and through the years has been amazing to follow. His page is worth checking out: www.youtube.com/@markoconnor

Mark was an absolute prodigy. We were born a month apart and grew up in the same part of northern California. I remember him flooring people at the fiddle contests back then.
