- Hidden & Dangerous 2 is the most underrated game of all time as a Tactical Shooter and as a World War II shooter. It's unfathomable how few people know or speak about this game series. Hopefully this video brings new interest to these absolute gems and we eventually get Hidden & Dangerous 3.

You'll need WinRAR to extract the files!
1. After Steam or GoG installation run the "OG SP COOP Patch.exe" locate H&D2 main directory and press ok. (Patch makes Original Campaigns Missions available in Cooperative mode)
2. Put "Maps" "scripts" "d3d8.dll" and "mpmaplist.txt" to the main directory as well. Overwrite if asked. (This allows High Resolutions, Originally 1280x960 was the max resolution)
3. Hosting a server only works if the regedit fix has been applied, it makes H&D2.exe to use the older directplay 8 and ipv4 protocol. Use H&D2v4Fix-x64 for 64bit or H&D2v4Fix-x86 for 32bit System. You can also apply these manually. It's completely safe and you can check what they do by right clicking it and edit. (Only Host needs to do this)
4. After this Create MULTIPLAYER GAME - LAN and choose a map/mission. Playing over internet use a LAN tunneling program like Hamachi or Radmin VPN.
5. Map Images are just a useful reminder which mission is which. I also recommend watching the mission briefings from TH-cam if played in coop. Unfortunately cutscenes and briefings are not available in coop, you just see objectives from game info.

6. By default the game kicks an idle player out from the server in 5 minutes (This is bad if you're playing a long time with 1 life mode and other player is spectating) Here's how to not get kicked • How to not get kicked ...

Me too it was my childhood game, and I could not be tired to play and replay. The game was indeed ahead of its time. Underrated or not I have enjoyed it. Back then we knew what gaming was, I mean these kind of tactical games that challenge your creativity. Thanks to the developers.

but i don't think i saw any mentioning that these were real historical WW2 missions.
(this dessert airport mission where you have to blow up the airplanes was the first ever SAS mission and how the SAS was originated i believe)
the real SAS blew them up and them fled in a gun car after the did some circles on the airport fireing at the rest of the planes
I favourited this video. It actually made me cry. My relationship with LS3D is quite meaningful to me. I think that my future involves resurrecting it.
I want to merge Mafia, H&D2, Wings of War, and Circus Empire into 1 game.
Very well done video. I would do exactly the same one. For people who don't know this was the golden age of gaming. All games till 2004 were so innovative. I always say that it is incredible that no new games followed this example but have instead remained on lame FPS stuff. Playing a regular FPS like call of duty 2 feels like a miles away lame experience compared to the complexity of this. This is my second best game of all time first being Sudden strike 1. Both games when I play them I mainly ponder about how I would make an even better sequel if I had the chance. Games that never cease to inspire me. A definition of a masterpiece. King of the mountain on very hard is my favorite mission.
How about Commandos series (1,2,3), do you like it?
Hello@@pampijitmuma9003. Yes, of course. Behind enemy lines is still the best. Commandos 2 is visually and musically top notch but very very easy even on hardest difficulty. H&D2 still has much deeper gameplay because of first person perspective.

Man, I had a video on a demo disc for the Dreamcast of the first game (released in '99, I was like 10) and I remember having a blast watching it, it was like absolutely nothing seen before to me at the time for any console and I always wanted to play it (never had the chance). This is the first time I see the second game and is absolutely mind blowing to see all the things they did back in 2003. Like you have said, way ahead of its time, and staying true to their values, as I see it.

I miss these old shooter games where you had a team of 4 and could switch to controlling different members on the fly. Some of the old Tom Clancy games were like that too. Have they make any newer games that play like that?
I don't know many. There was a bit never game called Conflict: Global Storm (or "Global Terror" depending on the region) that was released in 2005. It also has a squad mechanics and you can play it cooperatively. Original Xbox even let's you play it in 4 player split-screen coop. In that game you also fight in many different places around the world, but it is set in more modern time and also it is a way more dumb down version compared to a game like Hidden & Dangerous.
I haven't played Conflict series, but only Conflict: Global Storm (2005) looks interesting to me since it has a bit of what I would consider H&Dish. I might actually give it a playthrough at some point. It doesn't have a digital release though so you'll either have to try to find a physical copy or find a ripped version from online. H&D series also didn't have a digital version for years until 2017 (gog) and 2018 (steam). Only H&D: deluxe was available digitally for the longest time.
Door kickers 2 has the planning aspect of the old r6 games. But its not an fps. Does have that same tactical cqb goodness though

This title will always be super special to me. So glad I got to grow up with it, the multiplayer was immersive yet liminal in such a special way.
The m1 carbine is my favorite rifle ever made because of this experience.
Holy shit this game has so much soul, I can't believe I've never heard of this before which is such a shame after all these years trying to find a tactical game with this much detail and replayability. I hope someday we get a faithful sequel and thank you for making this video displaying how much dept this game has to everyone as in sure alot of ppl would've written it off as just a old game otherwise

Great mention, I'd almost forgotten what all the game had for unique mechanics.
Still see it as the best squad based tactical shooter tbh, along with Raven Shield, Rogue Spear,Swat3/4 and Orig Ghost recon nothing has really come close to their quality although I hold out hope for Ground Branch
I haven't really looked into Ground Branch yet, mainly because I haven't heard much buzz yet, so I figure its not ready to really look into.

Back then they used to have great passion on making games but didn't had the hardware, now we have hardware and lack passionate companies.. Baldurs Gate 3 came to show that we still have good people in the industry like in these days
Sad part is the people that made this mainly left computer making bussines and many found completly different jobs. Few of those that remained are working on KCD

Back in the day there was more people playing the Multiplayer Demo rather than the full version because it was free and digitally available.
Full version was released digitally first time in 2017 without official multiplayer support. Better marketing would've helped and a digital version of the game earlier.

I get that the last shot of the air plane kamakazi into the player kinda feels like the industry killing off H&D franchise, while also killing its own ingenuity and innovation - But I feel like the shot of throwing the weapon down to the person below you to snipe the person up in the tower wouldve been a better last shot - symbolizing tossing the torch to the new blood and younger generation to kill the current game trends! lol

Couldnt agree more. The teammate AI was horrendous in doors, they are completely blind and you're better off controlling everyone manually

The button name in the bindings is "Command all" (If I remember correctly default binding is num0) and then you can browse it by using the same keys you change the speed of the character (default being mouse wheel). Select by pressing the action button.
