I BOUGHT A Pepsi Max Big One Carriage | Restoration Project Episode 1

- I bought a retro Pepsi Max Big One carriage from Blackpool Pleasure Beach, but how was it possible, why have I done it and what's the plan for it? In this first episode in new series I talk about all of things whilst showing the state the retro carriage is currently in.

This is so cool and I’m so excited to see more and learn more about the process!! I want to see the paint colors, everything!
Thank you 😊 I intended to put more into this but things have got crazy lately. Hope to show a lot more of what we’re doing in the next one
Hi Jackie @Super Enthused 👋 ❤
@@yourexperienceguide Yesss, I loved all the shots you carefully showed of the interior and exterior, and it was very satisfying showing you guys washing it down and brushing the seats out. I'd love to know more about the process of how you got it, and the plans to keep fixing it up. It's such a cool treasure. Just a really cool, fun project, can't wait to see more!
@@SuperEnthused Thanks Jackie! I’ll definitely make sure there’s more input into how we got it back etc in the next one 😃
10k views wow can't wait 4 future esps
That is some piece of memorabilia. The old saying 'one mans junk, is another mans treasure'.
An iconic collectors piece.
Very true 😀
I'd love to see BPB restore the original train designs to The Big One for it 30th birthday tbh.
Likewise, we hoped to see this for the 25th anniversary too
@@yourexperienceguidedo you think there is a possibility this will happen?
What a beauty! Glad this piece of history has gone to such a deserving owner!
Thank you
I cannot think of a better home for this unique piece of BPB history. Great video and looking forward to following your progress. Congratulations guys.
Thank you 😊
That’s absolutely fantastic! I’m green with envy and you are so lucky to have got yourselves one of those carriages! I can’t wait to see how this develops and hats off to you for saving the carriage from the scrap heap.
Thank you :)
Amazing Scott well done on your purchase. Looking forward to seeing how things go with things.
Thank you, I don’t think it’ll be a quick process but we’ll definitely document it all
This is so cool! My brother brought me a piece of the big one track and it's my most treasured possession ... now I'm even more obsessed with the big one and the pleasure beach xxx
Awesome, where do you keep it?
My track piece is on a shelf well out of my son’s reach
@@yourexperienceguide I'm looking forward to seeing you restore the big one carriage xx
Wow a nice piece of pleasure beach history and nice to get them restored
Definitely ☺️
That's fantastic Scott. Just the start, all you need now is the old track parts and you can make a complete replica!
We’ll definitely need a bigger garden in that case 😆
How exciting! Great project! I once dreamed of owning one of the old Roller Sofa cars from Nick Streak/Roller Coaster - I guess they are long gone!
We agreed a price on one in 2016 but it took 4 years to get the dimensions off BPB Retail, and the price more than tripled in that time too unfortunately
Yes Scott you mad man! Love it!!
Definitely a bit mad lol
What an amazing thing to own. It will be a real labour of love to restore, but you will definitely do it justice. I admire anybody with the skills, time and dedication needed to complete a project like this. Looking forward to following the progress.
Thank you! It certainly won’t be a quick project but we’ll keep everyone updated along the way
I will enjoy watching the restoration progressing.
Hopefully you’ll enjoy the videos in the future 😃
The biggest of congratulations, Pleasure Beach Experience!!! If anyone was to own this carriage, it definitely had to be you! Its rightful owner! I am extremely happy for you guys!! 🤩
I am currently in the process of owning something very special from my local Merlin park, and very close to people's hearts like the Pepsi Max Big One is, and would love to talk to you more about it 🙂
I can honestly say I'm so pleased that you now own this incredible piece of BPB/theme park history from one of the most iconic rollercoasters of all-time! Coolest video EVER! I'm very excited to see more restoration updates! 😎
Thank you very much 😁
Nice one! Really looking forward to seeing more!
More to come!, thank you :)
It's amazing how you managed to get a Pepi max carriage, looks so cool. Enjoy restoring it x
Thank you 🤗 I am very pleased with it
Good luck explaining that one to Becca Scott!! I know she wanted a new planter but even I would have trouble selling that one to her pmsl!!!
Absolutely brilliant, love it and can’t wait to follow you on your restoration!!
@@yourexperienceguide arrrrr Scott! Sorry you didn’t get my sense of humour :-(
I did watch it all and saw Becca jet washing it and I know Becca would of been 101% behind the purchase!
It was a poor joke on my part! Had anyone else bought this, their other half would do their nut, you are lucky that you have another half that has equal if not more love for the same interest!
Sorry you didn’t get my humour and sad that I may have upset you, was not my intention!
I will stay quiet in future!
@@SamM-oh2cx Sorry Sam, I’ve had an extremely tough day with things going on at home and my brain is frazzled.
I’ve taken my comment down, please accept my apologies I’m just not with it today.
You definitely didn’t offend or upset, that’s a promise ☺️
@@yourexperienceguide sorry to hear that Scott. Will be praying you have a much better/calmer week :)
This will look amazing when finished! My truck for getting rust off of metal is to dip/coat the rusted areas in Diet Coke and then use a steel wire brush on it, super easy! This will hopefully help with the seat belt buckles etc. can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.
Thanks John :)
Diet Coke and not Pepsi? ;)
Good to see you have purchased a old Big One carriage there Scott im sure it will be a great project for you being such a big BPPB fan as yourself and will be interesting to see the outcome on this too - Nice 1 mate 👍
Thanks Chris :)
I hope it's the first of a mini series as this has the makings of being really good, plus I hope that someone at BPB may be able to get their hands on some of the missing pieces.
It will be, we have so much to do 😀
What a great purchase Pleasure Beach Experience 💙
Very pleased to have it
That's dedication to the cause right there 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Proper fanboy 🤣
Superb if anyone deserves that piece of history it's you Scott
Thanks mate
I'm only 12 seconds in, and beaming from ear to ear, thinking "f*cking legend!!'
So happy for you.. If anyone should have a Big one carriage, it's you.
Absolutely awesome!!
Thank you 😊
Beautiful. Good luck with the restoration project.
Thank you very much!
Great Video its going to be interesting following the progress
Thank you
That’s awesome 👏🏻
I’m so happy with it
I'm from Leeds and find myself a second year season pass holder. pleasure Beach is my second home. feeling the love ❤ on this restoration. 💕
Thank you for watching and commenting
ME TOO!
Brilliant!
Thanks Mark
I really hope we can get a part 2 soon, this is such an epic piece of history, and yes i can confirm from 1994-1997 there was red lines instead of purple. So yea its a shame that alot of the seats and backboards were ruined, but its to be expected from a very good amount of years of the elements
I’m on it 😃
Wow imagine having the big ones carriage in your backyard
Jealous
But we’ll done on getting it good for you man that’s amazing
Thanks Karl!
I bloody love this. I would have wheels on it and bringing it up for ride the lights. So what's the plan then Scott? Motorising it or ornament.
Ornament, and thank you :)
Wow. Amazing. That's a piece of history right there. Same it's not a nose car but still, it's awesome. I bet you look out of tge window at night and look at it and go.... "yeah!" 😁. I know I would.
Looking forward to how you get on with it. Can I ask how you managed to get it home and how are you going to shelter it from the elements?
Haha, funnily enough that’s exactly what we’ve both been doing, looking out the back door and giving it “oh there’s a PMBO carriage there” 😂🤦🏻♂️
It came back in a hired long wheel base Ford Transit, took 5 of us to put it in and 4 of us to get it back out. Had to take the garden wall down and replace it.
This is so awesome
I’m very happy with it
@@yourexperienceguide good piece of history there...and alot of good memories shared in that train
You guys / the channel are pretty much brand ambassadors for Blackpool Pleasure Beach, so I'm shocked that they had the nerve to even charge you for it, especially when you consider the condition of it.
BPB would never see it that way even if we are one of their biggest promoters (externally and unofficially)
@@yourexperienceguide That's a shame, as i'm sure they indirectly gain a lot from your channel.I know both myself and my daughter purchased speedy passes as a direct result of one of your videos.
Ridiculously cool. I’d love a Wild Mouse.
They do have some of them lying about
This is brilliant!!
I’m very happy with it 😁
@@yourexperienceguide The correct colour scheme as well 😎
Congratulations! I used to have one of the cars from The Cyclone at Southport Pleasure Beach and it was my most prized possessions. I desperately regret getting rid of it
Did you sell it or scrap it?
@@yourexperienceguide I sold it to a guy in Staffordshire who had a big space where was going to exhibit it. He had lots of other interesting bits and pieces and wanted to add the roller coaster to it. It still had the entire metalwork underneath, all the wheels, etc. They are so much better than you realise until you get them away from their track!
@@Spiceyspiney I wish they’d sold the Grand National carriages that came off in 2005 rather than scrapping them
Can’t believe they just chopped the cyclone down in Southport and it was a listed attraction
@@stifla71mylo37 I know - I was so devastated :(
Brilliant video
Thanks
amazing
I am very pleased with it
This reminded me of how I still hope that one day I will be able to buy that Alton towers log flume carriage on eBay 😂
I was after one of them too, they still have loads knocking about
Great video
Thanks
Well deserved mate, top guy
Very pleased to have it, thanks
Oh my days.. yes! Would love to own one of these, besides and old galloper horse and dodgem car 😆
Keep an eye out on their retail pages 😀
@@yourexperienceguide I was very interested in one of the old monorail carages I'd seen on the website at one stage. Gonna be a while before i get the space so i hope i dont miss out on anything ele this cool 😎 cheers guys
@@HolyFreakinDragonSlayer They’re not selling like hot cakes so you’ll probably be able to get one
True I'd love a monorail car or dodgems car
Lovely.

Thats so cool

As above the final stage is electric undercarriage and take along the prom on bike days. Next you'll be lining up with the horses 'Ride the Prom in the Big One'
Haha, it would be the best thing on show
@@yourexperienceguide Would look great along with our motorised fleet of dodgems, Postman pat, Goldmine car and Log flume.
Ride the Prom in the Big One 😂🤣😂🤣 brilliant!

Awesome. I so wished I could have got an American Adventure log from the flume
That would have been great
Wow your very lucky to get a iconic rollercoaster carriage
It’s very pleasing to have it
I always wanted a piece of the old monorail, not the yellow one but the Pepsi one they used on rainy days back in the day ahh, memories
Have they still got any of the old Monorail stuff on their retail site?
@@yourexperienceguide oh im not sure, may take a look. 😁
Oh wow I was there 1994 did a talk about it my army days and shook hands with Ross Kemp just memories...I reckon you do several episodes in 2 series?
Sounds interesting! There’ll definitely be more videos
Great piece of history Iconic ! Will look amazing when restored all you need is a Gold Mine carriage or Mouse , how much did pleasure beach charge you for this beauty ?
It was £300
@@yourexperienceguide that's a bargain well worth the money 👍
Long time listener, first time caller. Enjoy the videos mate. I was looking for some advice on speedy pass. Is it worth the money? Can you book more than one ride at a time? Any advice would be appreciated cheers
Hey! Thank you for watching and commenting. Speedy pass is well worth having on the busier days but you can only book one ride at a time.
How cool is that be good if you could get a piece of track too after they retracked parts of the ride that be interesting to shift and put in your garden lol
I think we'd start running out of space lol
If you find 50p down the back of the seat it's the one I dropped there in 1997!
Haha no loose change

Hey apologies for the delay we’re going to film something about this soon
Omg so jealous, I've got a lot of the little models, but I would love one of them trains, I would also love a Derby racer horse, but the nearest I've got to that train is the small model

I always thought the trains were repainted. Can you tell me where they got the new ones from
Some were, some were replaced to the same spec
@@yourexperienceguide thanks
How did you get it home , you never covered that bit
I hired a Ford Transit from Enterprise, I assisted loading it in and out of the van so couldn't film that bit of the process sadly
I’d love to have one
I’m still surprised I’ve got it
They have an original "Gold Mine" carriage at the New Esplanade Hotel.
We sat in it filming a video a few years back 😀
That “pinky-purple” is called magenta!
😊
Hi, that’s cool, maybe make a short length of replica track for its permanent base 👍👍👍👌👌👌🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for the suggestion
Is the wheels still on It
No
Looks daft in the garden like that, cut it up into three sections & then use them as garden furniture ;)
Nah it’ll not be getting cut up
Are you going to paint it a union jack?
Definitely not, going to stick with the original colours
@@yourexperienceguide ok is the original colours from 1994-2011
How much did you get it for?
£300
Would look well on a bit of track
I’d need a chassis too
What, they should be paying you to take trash away. Anyway, thanks for sharing it on the video and good luck.
Nah not really, most theme parks sell off things like this knowing there's a demand for it from the fans.
Thank you for watching and commenting :)
is the next update here yet?
It’s been left as it is, just clean it every now and then. Been super busy since this video went out.
How much did it cost ??
£300
My daughter said she wants to sit in it as she’ll never be brave enough to actually go on the ride 😂😂😂😂
Haha 🤣
I have a rather odd request. If it's OK, could you please post the dimensions of the car (total car length, total height including the seats, total height not including the seats, width at the top of the car, width at the bottom of the car (before skirt), skirt total width and height, side panel thickness, entrance point width etc...)? I'm building a scale replica of it and I'd like to be as accurate as possible.

300
@@yourexperienceguide oh nice !! Nice to hear you got it for a reasonable price

Probably
I thought that Theme Park Worldwide preserving the Alton Towers Bookworm was excessive enough… this is another level!
Priceless bits of history
Maybe there's sand because of its location next to an incredibly large body of dihydrogen monoxide? (the sea)
More likely to be from the heavy duty sandbags it had in it every day of its operational life
£300 thats cheap you lucky man especially when the wild mouse cars sold for over £5000
Good negotiator lol
Funny thing is I’m going to Alton towers tomorrow
I’m going to pleasure beach in 2 days!
Oh? Enjoy 👍
Thx
Lol and tpww brought a big worm from alton towers 🤣
