1000%! I'm sure you've noticed how they've been incorporating more would-be Rugby designs into the Polo line over the past few years-even down to the tag design. Everything goes in cycles though, so hopefully it'll be back one day. 🤞🏽
Nice collection bro! Rugbys are my favorite too. And it wasn't just black kids that desperately wanted Polo and Tommy Hilfiger back in the early 90s. I wanted so bad to have a closet full of Polo gear, and even Girbaud jeans for a time.
Appreciate it! I also love that you mentioned Tommy Hilfiger. While Polo and Ralph Lauren certainly came out on top from that era, there was so much variety back then that doesn't really get mentioned today-Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Lacoste, and the countless original streetwear brands that were founded in those years. I'm happy Girbaud jeans had a quick resurgence during my pre-teen days. I needed as many different colored straps as I could get my hands on!
Excellent collection.!!! There’s something special about RL that’s just magical. My daughter 11 just went shopping at the Ralph Lauren boutique for the 1st time and got the classic blazer with the patch on the bust. Keep up the awesome videos 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I love that! The world of RL can be a huge inspiration for the youth-you can be anything you want, live any lifestyle you imagine, and be the star of your own movie. ⭐
Yooo your collection is 🔥🔥🔥🔥. I have been trying to collect them in the past few years, but you have some nice ones I haven't seen at all. Nice collection man and stay on the grind
Yo this is a good idea for a channel bro, there's not enough info out there besides the Horse Power doc and Ralphies Kids etc. They don't systematically go through and detail all of the pieces. If you create a visual catalog of ALL the pieces, especially venture into everything else like the lil stuffed bears, the tote bags, etc that are also dope and collectible. People will start using it as a reference work for doing vintage shopping etc. Keep it up.
Ooooo, I think you're on to something! I definitely appreciate the words and there are a few other collectors in the comments here, so there might be an opportunity to start cataloguing these pieces. 🤞🏾
Good collection! My cousins were also obsessed with Polo Rugby. My older brother had a nice red black and white one that I eventually snagged from him but I never got my own Polo Rugby sadly.
Bruh, you would've been going crazy with it if the brand continued into the age where you could really start copping shit! Or you would've found an alternative Rugby line that's made and only available in Japan. 😂
I hated to see Rugby go but I’m also old enough to remember its predecessor, Polo Ralph Lauren University. IMHO, the University line was “the REAL deal”. Those pieces were equivalent to what you’d buy from an Ivy League university haberdashery. No gimmicky pieces. Just traditional tailoring that nodded to the Ivy League of years ago. Rugby had the best club collared shirts and tweeds since Polo University was cancelled. Outstanding rugby jersey collection!
Ahhh, I had no idea about Polo University Club! I know there's been Ivy League inspired pieces since the early days of RL, but wasn't aware of this line and just read up on it. According to what I read, RL was outsourcing production of that line. I couldn't imagine them doing that today, but I wonder if that was proof of concept for what would later become the Rugby line. Do you think they'll ever resurrect it?
@@butteryworkshop I have many Polo Ralph Lauren University pieces…mostly blazers, trousers, and a suit. It was a really good line with high quality pieces. I don’t think they will bring it back because of demographics. Their target market (college aged students) really could not afford the pieces and there has been a shift away from traditional dress to extreme casual clothing at universities (even Ivy League and HBCU’s). Think leggings, hoodies, and sweats. When I was in college in the early 1990’s, people typically took more effort to look dressed and stylish. Most college students I see wear the typical leggings, hoodies, and athletic wear. I think (my theory) is that Ralph Lauren decided to do away with the university line and replace it with the Rugby line because it is more youthful (rugby shirts, playful college themed pieces, rowing club styled jackets and tweeds, etc.). The problem is that the price point was still a bit elevated for most college students. The advent of the hoodie and the yoga pants/leggings in addition to “fitness” culture has made it very difficult to grab the market share. Honestly, I thought Denim and Supply would be around forever because it was very youthful but….as you can see, they’ve been vanquished. Sadly.
@@GuapoLo67 Depends. Rugby shit is cut small to begin with, and God help you if you're over 30, bigger framed, or spend a lot of time in the gym. I'm 6'4" 250, moderately yoked, and finding RRL stuff that fits my frame is a challenge. If you're stick thin like I was in college, or just smaller, then yeah... Much better to be size XXS than XXL looking for Rugby goodness. I have 11 RL Rugby jerseys, and would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. Also, people usually know what they have with the rare and really cool items, so sometimes you have to go into triple digits to get something really desirable, especially if you're limited by sizing (Anything 48" chest or below is out for me, which includes some 2XL pieces.) I've been able to easily wear every Polo Classic Fit XL, or XXL Custom Fit rugby, but I've seen RL Rugby XXLs at 22 P2P, or 26 P2P. Just gotta check the tape measure. Don't assume you have a "Size" in Rugby (Or with any vintage clothing really)...odds are you don't. Cheers all! 🍺 💯
@@BWM135 most Rugby pieces are true to size except the Rugby Styled shirts those vary in size depending on the fit there’s a lot of Rugby floating around in all sizes as long as your not 3x and up but 2x and lower it’s in abundance
They’ve been releasing a lottt pieces lately that would’ve been in the Rugby line, with customization and everything. Hopefully they start doing the same with classic Black Label designs. 🤞🏽
Now the only problem is I have so much polo. I am literally trying to stop. But very true, you go to the Hamptons you go to Cambridge Martha’s Vineyard and you see people wearing Ralph.
Same. I need a 2XL in Rugby though. You should upload a quick vid of your stash like this one! There were only around 15 of these stores in the USA, mostly in college towns, and a majority of people never even knew this brand existed. I have a small 8 or 9 shirt collection made from eBay and thrift store finds, and love seeing all the cool stuff that's still out there even though the brand and stores are gone. If I had one of these stores nearby a decade ago I would have been broke all the time... 😂
That Rugby Line a sad day to see it go. We need it BACK !!!!!!

Yeah we need one on vintage rl polos bro
Outstanding collection my friend 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing collection and very knowledgeable on the brand itself. These pieces will always have a very special place in the Ralph Lauren timeline.
Thank you! I'm happy to see Rugby inspired pieces making their way back into the main Polo line.

Dope collection. I'm with you on not feeling the white collar lol
It’s a clean look, but they’re a pain 🤦🏽♂️
Great collection bro!
You need some kickers in that collection tho! That was top tier for me
Mannn, tell me about it! I can’t believe I don’t have any. Definitely have a few on my eBay watchlist.
