I think about getting the ST103, and then sand the spine off to look like the GANZO Firebird FH51. I wanted a 3.5" blade and about 3.5 oz folder. Making a knife is a tedious process so buying a knife and modify it is way better and much easier and cheaper than start off as a knife maker, which at one time I was thinking about doing. Too old for it now. The Masalong Tactical Outdoor is the best flickering fidgety knife I have ever owned.
Thanks for sharing this. I like your idea. I can see what you're looking to do and certainly won't tell you not to give it a try. It won't be an exact copy of the FH51, but it will be a unique knife
You're welcome JP. I think you'd like this one. It's a nice gentleman style as far as I'm concerned. It feels really nimble and slicey I haven't played with it much because I want to dye the scales. BTW, I got the Rough Ryder copper cleaver. Very nice indeed. I like it very much. Not sorry at all for picking it up
@@rustyminer Always love watching knife mods so lookforward to your video on dying the scales on this one...And the video on the copper cleaver glad you like it.👍
I hv 25 + EF knives! Love them all. Not always 100%, i hv to sand down sharpe edges, oil pivot, hone the blade. Tune it up basically. Cant beat um for the $$
25? You are a fan👍 I agree, a little clean up is good and any other work you want to put in to "finish" the knife can take these knives up a level. This one is already pretty good. Like a project car with no rust or body work and a fresh rebuilt engine. Put on some paint and change the oil, then hit the track
@@rustyminer plz keep up great vids, man. Also do some RR or Case or Kiser n Kubey, to name a few. Haters out there love bashing Case, i jus have not found many flaws in my last few yrs of collecting. 99% perfect. They try an put RR in same class as case. Not happnin’!! Lol🔪🔪🇺🇸🇺🇸😎
@@ericpitre4031 Thanks Eric, I have enough ideas for videos to keep me busy until late spring, early summer. I'm sure I'll think of more in the meantime. It is a challenge shooting several videos a week though, but it is fun too.
@@ericpitre4031 That makes perfect sense. The videos I have in mind in the near future will focus on "performance" in a similar but different way than many other channels.
Thank you GRuggs. I'm an Ontario Knife fan. So I appreciate your video today. I had lunch with my cousin and he reminded me of my Buck knife in highschool. The Buckmaster 185. Are you familiar with that one?
@@LegionTacticoolCutlery it's the biggest knife I have ever owned. I think the Ontario is more of a beast though. I broke the tip on my Buckmaster throwing it in the ground. Pretty much ruined it
Big but pretty comfy. The liners on the fingers when the blade is open remind me of another knife, but I can't place which one. And it's been a week or more. You can feel the steel liners when the blade is open, but it's not uncomfortable for me. It's a bigger knife and fills the palm more than most knives
Ganzo are great. Hard to beat I may have to try the FH81 and FH41. The Sitivien ST111 is good not great. It's worth the money. mine has a little blade stains. The action is a bit stiff, but I think it will get better
@@rustyminer Is it assisted opening? The Ganzo aren’t. They are smooth as silk even as heavy as my FH81 is. I bought a Kershaw Barricade and I’m sending it back to Amazon. The assisted open is hard to open even after adjusting the tension. Plus it’s junk compared to the Ganzo.
many D2/G10 knives with big western brand names in the 50 to 100 USD league come with blades not centered, average action, lockup over 50% and and and. so why buy them if you can get an Eafengrow or Sitivien for 20 to 25 bucks ? because they come from China ? well, many of the western brands have their knives produced in the very same factory.
Agreed. Eafengrow is not Civivi or Kizer level, but they aren't priced there either. This one is one of my favorite Eafengrows from the half dozen or so that I own.
Another great video Rusty, Keep up the good work my friend. OK till the next one stay safe and be well.
Rock on Big Freddie!!! Rock on.
