This exercise is actually a game changer. It definitely releases the voice when it feels trapped. Such a good simple daily exercise to do!
For my whole life up until a little while ago I genuinely thought that I couldn't sing. Then I realized that I wasn't actually using my whole voice. I was kinda just singing super quiet and not letting my whole voice out. Then I tried singing a little louder, and I was *amazed* by what happened. I was actually able to sing a song without sounding awful... XD lol

Wow, I didn’t want to believe it, I’ve seen so many tutorials in TH-cam and they are crap. However I recorded myself at least 4 times before your exercise and it didn’t sound good and after this exercise the difference was like day and night! Omg thank you! got the courage to finally sing a whole song and record it and thought it sounded okay but playing it.. i sounded like a dying goat... it hurts cause i was so excited beforehand and also did vocal warm ups.. and wanted someday to send it to my friends..
hi. i thought i was bad too until i bought a real microphone with a screen filter and it helped so much. your voice wont sound its best if its recorded on a phone
@@willcarroll1473 Maybe the person above already uses a good microphone. I do, and I have the same experience every time I record something. Sounding horrible is unfortunately not always an easy fix.

Try starting out just strumming on the chord changes and singing, until really comfortable with that. then gradually start adding more and more strums while singing.
