This is definitely true that no local product can replace the quality of decathlon products. But most of the times, budget being a big issue. That's why people go to the local shops according to their pocket.
Now one thing we need to keep in mind when buying from local shops is checking quality. According to our experience, tents in the local market are of very cheap quality that we shouldn't buy it at all. So, in case of tents you better go with decathlon tents. Their range starts from around 2,000 for 2 person tent which is good.
And in case of sleeping bags, decathlon has a very higher range of prices so one can go with local sleeping bags but needs to check the quality properly. We're also using local sleeping bags from past 2 years. Gopinath bazar at delhi cantt has good sleeping bags than other markets. All army personnel prefer to go there.
