im going into highschool, and this is the first year I have ever had summer reading. I am taking a Pre-AP ELA class so we have many more assignments that regular that requires annotation. they gave us short tips on a google doc, but this video has helped me so much more. I have never actually annotated within a book, and this has given me a guideline to follow and get me started. I feel that Method 1 and 3 are what speaks to me the best and suits my learning style. Thank you so much for this video !!
Hi! Thank you so much for watching. I apologize for not responding sooner, but I really, really appreciate your comment. I'm so glad that this video could help you. When I was in highscool, I never knew how to annotate books, so it's great that you are already doing so. How are your classes going?
Wow, I love all the editing, not to mention the fact that you have a twin!😂 And thank you for this video, I will definitely be doing method 1 from now on 📖✏️
So I'm not in college anymore, but I am trying to write my own books. I try to read to get a better sense of how different authors wrote their characters but sometimes struggle with even trying to remember what the chapters/book was about. So I'm probably going to stick to method two considering- while these are my own books- I don't personally feel comfortable writing in them just yet lol. Thank you so much for the video, especially as someone who was an English major, I was never taught how to annotate books.
Thank you so much for watching and leaving such a great comment. I totally agree with you--I feel like I was also never taught how to annotate or even write an essay. I started to develop 'methods' based on a lot of trial and error. Also, I think it's so great how you are fond of writing. What kind of book are you in the process of writing?
Thank you! I'm prepping for my upcoming college summer semester, and this teacher is requiring readings. I haven't had to do serious reading for school just yet, so it'll be interesting. I may be combining methods as well as a couple other things I know have worked in the past. Thank you so much!
@wander and words It's definitely going interestingly. My lab class is taking most of the time, so I'm glad I looked this up before. Onto my bird anatomy!
16:57 THE LATHE OF HEAVEN MENTIONED!! Love that book. Thank you for this video! I’m not an English major but I want to better understand and analyze the literature I read in my free time. One of the most helpful videos on annotating in my opinion!
THANK YOU. I suck so bad at English because all my teachers tell me to annotate for future projects, then I don’t because I have no idea how, then I end up needing annotations for future projects and have absolutely NOTHING. (Also this is off topic but the name Noemi has the emphasis on the “em” not the “mi” 😅. Sorry it’s such a small detail but my name is Noemi so I felt legally obliged to tell you that)
I just found you today! I'm so happy I did because I've been an ESL tutor for 7 years and will start my BA in English this month ☺ This video helped me lots. I always see everyone using tons of sticky notes, but I've always felt like you: it's too much. I loved your 1st method since it's kind of similar to mine, but you have it better organized. Let's see if I can mix method 1 and 2 because I also need writing. Thank you!
Hello Denisse! Thank you so, so much for your message. I'm really glad that my video was able to help you a bit as you embark on your new journey as an English major. That's so exciting! I also admire your work as an ESL tutor. After 7 years, I am sure you were able to help out so many people with their language skills, and I think that's so lovely and commendable. 😊
lol love the little rant on disliking sticky notes. its very relatable. And as always great video with attention to your 3 methods. Personally I am a combination of method all the methods. annotating is so diverse indeed
Hello first I started color code it goes like this Romantic scenes ❤️ Scene or Hot monmetos 🧡 Funny Monmetos 💛 💚 Favorite phrases. 💙Sad scene or moment And today I hold onto Suraya and write her my Book of the Mockingjay, it's true, I already feel the book is more mine, it's something very beautiful, I've been evicted, I have everything on my mind because she's suffering from psychology with Mockingjay
I don’t like sticky notes for annotating either, I’ve tried. And I hate how it covers the words on the page or do fall out. Plus I want to feel free to annotate as much I want and I don’t want to worry about sticky notes running out.

Thank you so much, Holly! I really appreciate your comment and support. :) Ahaha yes! Sticky notes are overrated. 😂
I’ve been annotating my books for years but now that I’m taking university English I needed a serious method! Youre literally a life saver!! :)))
Thank you sooo much!!! You’re so kind! Good luck with your classes. ☺️

Thank you so much for watching! I love reading about how you color code. It's neat to see which colors people associate with different ideas. :)
This is extremely helpful! Thank you so much for making this video :) Have a wonderful day/night
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment!! ☺️ I really appreciate it, and I hope you also have a great day/night!

Such a great and well organized video, my daughter enjoyed the bell and Gaston clip lol. That’s how we end up when we don’t annotate 🙈
Thank you for this video! Now that i am in college I will use those tips!!
I'm so glad it could help! Thanks for watching and good luck with your studies. 😀
You just saved my whole career! Thank You soo much 💖
