I had to look at that 12MB a couple times and reset my brain. I remember seeing Quake with a Voodoo (1) a friend bought and will never forget it. Today, using a 4090 with 2000 times more memory. Insane. Absolutely Insane.
I had Cyrix 486dx/33mhz and went from Doom to Quake. I was even playing with keyboard and extra buttons for look up/down as I didn't know the standard ways of wasd and mouse was a thing. I did finish the damn thing like that at 5-10fps or something. I remember to liking the experience back then. Later I run it in a Pentium and I felt it was so fast that I got motion sick till my brain learned to adapt. Which is strange, one would expect the low frame rate to give you motion sickness, but imagine I got used to it that the smooth framerate got me icky.
