I remember Bonnie Blackstone! I used to watch her on Saturday nights as a kid when she was hosting a block of wrestling programs on a local channel. It had WWE and NWA, plus a lot of territorial promotions. It was a good time to be a young wrestling fan, and Bonnie was part of it. So glad to see she's still remembered.❤
He was San Antonio Sportscaster his big claim to fame was trying to bring a NFL Team to San Antonio Texas . I think he stepped on to many toes and was let go without any fan fair.
NO ONE FORGETS STEPHANIE WIAND!!!!! The giving away the house makes her alone memorable, BUT any kids of the 90s remembers WWF Mania and Stephanie! YOU PUT SOME RESPECT ON HER NAME!😂😂😂😂😂 (All joking aside me and my buddies have been trying to remember Todd's co-host of that show for weeks now but have promise to not look it up to see if we can figure it out. Thanks Cultaholic)
@torliebenfels5618 to be fair, this comment itself isn't necessarily misogynistic. More of an observation of how they used to treat and hire female wrestlers.
Out of everyone on the list, Max Bretos is the only one that I know. In fact, I hear him call a lot of MLS games on Apple TV with his distinctive call of "YEEEEESssssssss" whenever anyone scores a goal. Him being in WWE is new to me.
@@jaycerrito3142 Right. And they are both incredible simpletons. At least Vince is a successful businessman whilst Trump would be richer if he just left his inheritance at the bank. Oh don’t worry…i remember too many of those kind of shows…Roller Jam, there was a beach one…and of course the immortal Battle Dome which gave us Terry Crews
He's definitely remembered for the wrong reasons. It's made even worse when it was revealed he has dementia, so we're definitely all going to hell for laughing at a man with legit brain damage.
Didn't know BB was Holly's gal..but growing up at the time..she was quite memorable for obvious reasons. A few others that had short stints were too..WWE definitely knew how to pick em
From a British point of view. Former Blue Peter presenter Radzi being NXT UK's backstage interviewer for at lest a year or two. Went from being on a big name children's TV show, to becoming a WWE interviewer to becoming a host of multiple different sport event like snooker, NBA, Strong Man and I think he did the show Splash as well.
I remember Reo Rogers, Ken Resnick, Stephanie Wiand, Joe Fowler (He was in Knights and Warriors and Coach before WWF), Boni Blackstone, Charlie Minn (Proof that superfans don't make great commentators), Barbara Bush and Max Bretos (I was wondering why he would leave his safe haven at Fox for the WWE since he stunk).
Steve Romero did some commentary on the Dusty Rhodes DVD. I had no idea that lady who looked like a young Joy Behar was Stephanie Wiand. I remember Bruce Prichard as Reo Rodgers, Barbara Bush, and I definitely remember Ken Resnick, as he was a pretty decent announcer. I don't, however, remember any of the others.
I Absolutely loved Bruce Prichard as Reo Rogers that was an absolutely hilarious Gimmick Bruce's Dusty Rhodes impersonation is amazing especially when he does it on his podcast 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Joe Pedicino helped start Global Wrestling Federation? Pretty cool. I mostly remember him as a host, interviewer and as part of the WCW Hotline in the early 90s. I really liked him and his wife Bonnie Blackstone.
You left one name off of this list in a guy named Palmer Cannon. He was there maybe 6 months on the Smackdown brand, and was basically bullied out of the company by JBL and Chris Benoit.
I remember Resnick, but not always his name, because as cited he was an AWA guy; and replaced Gene there; only to show up in WWE where of course Hogan, Gene and Heenan had all done as well... for what ever reason I thought he lasted longer in WWE
Out of all these names, I only really remembered B.B. Other names I probably would’ve added would have been Marissa Mazzola (a.k.a. Ms. Shane O’Mac) and Jack Korpela.
You know, props to WWE for giving that Stephanie woman a shot back in the mid 90s. That was actually pretty progressive of them at the time. Too bad it couldn't have worked out better chemistry wise. I think she should get more recognition for being groundbreaking in such a position.
Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman are the greatest non-wrestler wrestling characters ever for sure. (Yes, Eric competed in a few matches and is even a former WCW Hardcore Champ, but not really a wrestler as he himself has often stated on 83 Weeks)
No love for Chris Leary?? He did commentary and interviews for the syndicated shows in 2001-2002, and he also hosted some of the recap/magazine shows (like Livewire). He's so forgotten that the recap show he hosted for small TV markets (WWF Attitude) was listed as "lost" by people in the Lost Media Wiki until fairly recently, when I let one of the editors know that a brief clip of the show had been posted to Leary's TH-cam channel as part of one of his demo reels... more than 10 years ago. I guess it wasn't totally lost all these years; it's just that the host was so forgotten that no one thought to search for evidence of the show through him lol
I would take Joe Fowler and Stephanie Wiand off the list and replace them with those two "superfans" that promoted SummerSlam one year. I think they did other stuff, but for the life of me I can't remember their names or picture their faces. (George and something, maybe?) EDIT: Google says "George and Adam" and they're now both VPs within WWE.
Y’ALL 😂😂😂 Charlie Minn gets by nowadays in my hometown El Paso, TX making sub B-films, speaking to film students at my alma mater UTEP as if he’s the hot 💩, and taking advantage of every tragedy he can find to make a buck.
Rue Debona was part of the girl pop group Boy Krazy, they were an american made girl group ironically popular in the UK in 91, they didnt hit the states til 2 yrs later, they were known for Thats what love can do, and Good times with bad boys
If you were watching WWE at the time, there’s no way you could miss BB Barbara Bush. AOAS this huge breasted blonde EMT started showing up all the time … so she doesn’t belong on this list, especially considering how many of the women of the divas era could be considered “non-wrestlers” as well

I remember Boni doing segments for GWF, she always brought a smile.
Fun fact: Joe Fowler also hosted a competition show called Knights & Warriors, which basically was American Gladiators meets Medieval Times.
Okay that show sounds awesome 😂
When was that? It sounds vaguely familiar OR I just think it’s a good idea and am making things up

Finally some respect on Stephanie Wiand’s name…Its unfortunate she hasn’t made a cameo appearance, not even at NXT’s In Your House event.
I remember Steve Romero calling matches on Velocity, specifically that he tried to work the term "solar plexus" into every single match.
I like that WWE brought back In Your House in 2020 for NXT

I vote for the ottoman empire.
Honorable mention has to go to Marissa Mazzola, a backstage interviewer whose onscreen time was brief but is better known as Mrs. Shane McMahon.

Ken Resnick would also host early episodes of TNN's Rollerjam, which was somewhat like WWE, but on rollerblades.
RollerJam was like an Attitude Era version of Roller Derby.

If you ever do a Part 2 of this. You should include Robert Bartlett. A brief 3rd commentator with Vince and Macho Man on Raw in 1993
Rob Bartlett was basically Don Imus's version of Jackie "Joke Man" Martling from The Howard Stern Show.
Everyone knows about that though so it doesn't really qualify.
How could you forget about Barry 'The Mayor of Merchandise' Didinsky?
I loved those Saturday morning wresting shows. Things were better when the options were limited.
Wow, for the longest time I thought Stephaine Wiand & Charlie Minn existed solely in one of my fever dreams as a kid!
I remembered 8 out of 10, but Im old as fuck.
Huh i only remembered 1 out of these 10

He was far too well known for this list.
For those that care the mega powers of ESPN were a pair of anchors named Dan Patrick and Keith Olberman.

Stephanie Wyand reminds me of my quirky 90s elementary school teacher. Outfit and all🤣
