  • In this video, Dr. Martin Compton from the UCL Arena Center discusses the impact of generative AI on academic integrity with UCL students Kazunori Fukuhara and Navya Sara Jaiswal. They debate the potential for AI to be used as a form of cheating in academia, acknowledging the line that separates resourceful use from dishonest practices, and address the inevitable integration of AI tools in academic work despite institutional restrictions. They conclude with proposed changes in assessment methods, leaning towards critical thinking tasks and non-cognitive skills over rote learning, to better align education with an AI-influenced future job market.
Navyasara Jaiswal is a first-year student at UCL from India, doing a BA in education studies. She has interest in the booming Ed-Tech industry and how education can aid with social justice.
Kazunori Fukuhara is a 2nd year Social Sciences with Data Science student. He was born and raised in Japan, going through Japanese education, international school education and UK education. He has a strong interest in datafication of education.
