Bob Binnie did a video series "Oxalic Acid Mite Treatment Research," and in part 2 of 3 videos, there are some very interesting comments based on research on OA dosages. This was from 2 years ago.
I don't know if Jennifer Berry's research has been published yet.

This article may also shed light on OA dosages when the colony is broodless.
Oxalic acid for the control of varroosis in honey bee colonies-a review
You will have to check the label of the OA package to see if there is an amount given, but on mine, it showed 2g per deep brood box.

Great video, Brian. My vaporizer does actually have a DW for Dewalt stamped right into the plastic batter holder. Unless they've changed it, you might have just missed it.

if it does it is to small to notice. A big sticker is what it needs.

Thanks Brian very informative, do you use one application or many over a set amount of days, will you give them another blast in let’s say a week. Your right about dosage have seen many a commercial use 4 grams. Each to their own I guess. Even though your not suppose to do with capped brood, could you do over many weeks to get the mites as young hatch, a long enough cycle to even get the drones ?Great video tks.

Thanks. I treated with Formic in September. I am just trying Oxalic Vapor out to see if it is a suitable year end treatment so one treatment will suffice.
Oxalic Vapor works best if there is no brood. If brood is present there are better ways to treat in my opinion.

I found the instructions lacking on my purchase. Does the measuring tube need cooling between doses?

Yes, the instructions included are lacking. That is why I made the video. I have never let the tube cool down. I do notice that if I use it for a long time the O ring starts to not seal as effectively.

@@Innisfilcreekhoney I will be watching your video. I have done a lot of mite checks after doing ox last all and none have found any mites - so far. So, I will be using the new tool this fall again, as well as, other treatments that may be necessary should I find a heavy mite load in the near future. I'm also making splits to keep the mite load down.

How long do you leave the hive closed up

I leave the hive closed for about 10 minutes to make sure that the vapor has time to settle on all the bees before they leave the hive.

Is there a trick to loading the plunger? Every time, no matter the dosage set, the oxalic acid power fails to stay in. Update! Adding a couple drops of water will make it stick in the plunger. Add water drops, shake shake shake and its good to go!

You can try adding a few drops of water to the oxalic acid and mixing it up. Just a little bit of moisture. Will make it pack like Sand on the beach when you're making sandcastles
