I know I'm a little late to the party, but thanks for the video! I needed a longer demo than the standard 15-min how to's were showing to see the production chains and assistants. I do wish you were zoomed out a little on the camera though. It's a bit stomach churning with all the motion, and makes it hard to see the whole scene clearly. At 1080p you'd still be able to read the cards easily. It looks the same for the Longsdale playthrough, so just something to consider for future videos of this type. But still very helpful!
Excellent instructional video, Tom, and certainly much clearer than the recommended “Hot ‘How To Play’” video on BGG. Well done. I decided to watch this ahead of receiving the expansion with the solo mode (which has been difficult to track down) (I shall only be playing the game solo). I will certainly go on to watch your instructional video about the expansion as soon as I receive it.
I think you were playing market office that gives an extra card incorrectly. You were always giving that extra card, but page 11 says “You receive one additional card into your hand, unless you have more than three cards in hand already at the start of that phase.”
apollonia The game officially doesn’t have solo rules. However BGG has some solo variants created by fans you can try. However buying an expansion allows for solo play.
At 1.05 approximately: from the Dutch rules: At number I you can discard any number of cards and draw the same number from the pile. Then everyone can take 2 cards from the pile there is no hand card limit.
+kippensaus that's strange, the English rules are "Each player can discard all (not some) cards from hand and draw an equal amount from the draw pile."
This was a change when the game switched from "Royal Goods" to "Oh My Goods." the RG rules say it can be any number, but OMG specifies that it's all or nothing.

I've only played solo with the expansion which comes with its own solo rules
If you decide at the beginning of the game to keep all your cards in your hand without discard any card you draw two cards from the deck ;
I own this one, but I have not gotten it to the table yet. Must do so!
