My kid isn't in to AAA titles but wanted to make sure it could handle older games like HL2/L4D/Portal. From your experience do you think those will run fine? At least with 8gb to start with?
If your goal is to enjoy the game you shouldn't worry that much about graphics. And if it's not competitive, 30fps is more than acceptable imo. I mean, a lot of people play switch ports of AAA games, even hogwarts legacy.

Give your boy a good blow of table fan. 2) Force your Ryzen CPU to use constant TDP, such as RyzenController, set it to around 25 W and update it every one second. 3) Increase VRAM if your processor supports it. It gives more room for GPU to work. 4) Make sure the battery is working properly. If you don't have battery installed it's not going to be stable because of lack of wattage from battery (known Ryzen laptops problem).

I was also in this same confusion. But I spent a lot of time on Quora, Reddit and other sites and found out R5 5500U is better.. Though i3 1215u performs well in single core, Ryzen's Vega 7 graphics beats the Intel's UHD Graphics.. also the 4 cores perform well in multi-core and single core too.. I am gonna buy HP 15s with R5 5500u soon..

Don't fall for i3 and its more cores. Its 4 out of 6 cores are dogshit cores (E cores). While Ryzen gives you 6 full cores and split up to 12 threads in total compared to 2 P cores 4 P threads and 4 dogshit (E) threads.

Your integrated graphics don't have a model name as far as I'm aware because they aren't a separate, dedicated graphics card. It is part of the cpu so technically your gpu and cpu are called ryzen 9 6900 whatever fuckin suffix

Если пользоваться настройками производителя, то будут либо фризы, либо дропы.
