I also love this game because of the music community. I'm not playing music yet, but I have acted in a musical! There is so so so much creativity within such a caring community and I'm so excited for what shows we get to put on this year. I don't even know what else to say it's just a special game to me.
People complain about the graphics? I think it looks great. Games don't need to be hyper realistic. Hell, they shouldn't. They should look like games. I'm playing around on a daoc free shard using the original graphics which I have nostalled you for, and lotro is orders of magnitude better So I'm more than okay with the graphics. If you ask me, the obsession with chasing cutting-edge visuals is a severe detriment to gaming these days. Companies are blowing massive chunks of their budgets to make the game look 3% better, leading to The absurdly long development cycles were seeing today, unreasonably large downloads, and lack of legitimate content.
Your last sentence is the key one: Content is king. Especially if you play a game a long time. Better graphics just won't sustain your interest if the content isn't there. But great content (and LOTRO has a ridiculous TON of great content) is the real compelling factor that keeps you engaged.

Yes!! I’m going back to SWTOR as well making it my second main MMO! I somehow always spend more time in LOTRO than SWTOR though if that says anything. But LOTRO is def fun and some cool stuff should be coming soon.

i just bought a new PC and downloaded this game again. i loved playing this game years ago. i can't remember how to play. kind of excited to get back into this game
Considering its release date, I think LOTRO has amazing graphics. For a 16 year old game, I think it looks great. Especially when you max out the settings. I recently upgraded to a 2K monitor and it made it even better. At 2560x1440 resolution, the game world is just stunning.
I've been an on and off again player for over a decade, and I've been a vip member for over 6yrs non stop even when im not playing it. I want this game to continue, so a small monthly bill is nothing to me. I love lotro, and i love lotr. Just recently started reading the books and following along with andy serkis as he voice acts every word phenomenally. And that, of course, fanned my never-ending spark for lotro. So im back playing it again too. Lotro is amazing in its lore and is so good at its stories that they might as well be canon. You can tell how much effort the devs put into the game and that they too love lotr and to them it is sacred. That is why i continue to support the game regardless of whether I'm actively playing it. The community in lotro is also amazing, like u said. Im more of a solo player myself, i like playing in group content too, but everybody plays at their own speed, and while i like to relish in the story and environment, others like to rush and often leave me in the dust when i play with them.

I'm relatively new and there's a lot of stuff I don't yet understand, but I'm definitely engaged. My main issues are the main map is rather low res and not very friendly to colorblind people such as me. Also on my ultra-wide monitor many of the game's panels can be very hard to read due to having tiny text and icons that cannot be resized. I think some more accessibility options are definitely needed. but other than that it's all good. (yeah I know the chat pane text can be resized). I don't care about it not having state of the art super-realistic graphics as I've always believed a very definite, cohesive art style is more important than hyper-realism.
I'm very new to the game (started playing at the end of January.) I decided to give it a month and see how I felt about the game but I instantly fell in love with the music system and the absolutely amazing community. The festivals are great and the world is so immersive that I don't even realize that some locations are less populated. Playing various MMOs for close to 20 years I can say that LOTRO is by far the best MMORPG ever created.
Right after buying all expansions except Umbar I see such video conforting me in my decision 😁 Recently watched rings of power and like it. Then I heard many people complaining how inaccurate that was compared to the lore. Consequently, I bought the Silmarilion and omg I love this universe so much. I want to play this game just for the lore, chilling and doing solo content or with friends listening to some beautiful musics while exploring Middle Earth ^^
Starwars Galaxy had a good music system, vanguard saga of heroes had a music feature where you could make money giving buffs and enteraining other players
This game is fantastic! I just wish they would push it more and invest more. It doesn’t matter how long it’s been running for. My worry is they create another lotro which impacts on this one. I doubt they will ever achieve the atmosphere in this game anywhere else
Its a best free mmo for sure. as in none of other mmo's you can earn LP alternatives. grinding LP's is some kind of atraction, a job wich makes game interesting, at least for me

The things I enjoy most out of LOTRO is simply that it is the best way to live in Middle Earth and it isnt even close. I enjoy the combat well enough though I wish it had Final Fantasy XIV’s controller support. I love how faithful it is to the books and book lore as Middle Earth is easily in my top 5 favorite fantasy worlds. The graphics are fine. Honestly they are more or less at my ideal level for my own subjective and personal reasons. Something a lot of people in this comment section seem incapable of grasping. Do I think it is the best mmo? No, but its certainly in my top 5.
My No.1 reason for LOTRO to be the best MMO is the community! For example on Gwaihir there is a player called "Arassael" who spend the year collecting all kinds of cool items and the gifting them to other players on the 24. Dec. in Frostbluff near the snowball field! Its so amazinh to see how many players come over to say hi, dance around and talk to each other. On New Year's Eve, everyone come to Weathertop to party together. Is so amazing that these events happen so no player has to spend these special days alone.
Simply just check it out. I think so many people don't get into it because there other MMOs they are focused on, they feel its too overwhelming, or just life happens and they can't play it but always yearn for it. If you are able to dedicate an hour a week to LOTRO, then you certainly can check it out and at least get the gameplay mechanics down to get a grasp on the game itself. Don't overthink, play it now because you have nothing to lose. The game can always change it to be less free-to-play friendly which always gave me motivation to check it out as the unexpected cause always happen.
I accidentally fell through the well in Moria on my first play-through and when I seen that I got deed and title from doing so, I genuinely laughed with my wife and of course she wanted it to so she sacrificed her hobbit to get the title as well!:)

In terms of story, lore, quest design, class design and gameplay in general its a very good game and i would play it way more if the tech issues would be fixed.
And what about paying for the in game content? I am sure that many people will not play LOTRO for this reason. And it is not the cheapest product too :)
Lotro might be the best because everything else is either based on ridiculous Raiding, too much cheating or just bad altogether. Take if from someone who not only played older titles like World of Warcraft and Age of Conan, Guildwars 2 is a cheaters-fest and Final Fantasy 14 online is a Raiding nightmare (even during pve story-play!). I do feel, if players went back to Age of Conan, that would be a good MMO in today's time. Lotro is probably the most casual and least annoying MMORPG on the market still. Lets just face it... Too many people coming out of college with the knowledge of making games but they don't really have what it takes to be really good at it and as a result, we're seeing a lot of "bullchit" for MMOs nowadays. Graphics don't make a game fun, never has and never will, so I'm fine with the visuals. If graphics made a game fun, the gaming industry would have died out decades ago. Games have always been about "fun factor", not graphics.

Thinking about running a Dwarf Hunter because I've never played one before and even though Elf is better I just play the game to have fun honestly. But yeah, your my type. Dated more uppity women in the past but you are the only woman who I know of who plays LOTRO and is so gorgeous. Damn it, this isn't a dating site, I'm sorry but not sorry because I had to get that out there I guess lol, I've never been one to lie or filter stuff I guess. If it's from the heart there is always a start I guess you could say. Anyways, didn't mean to come off as a creep or whatever people say these days but I'm 34 so I don't think I am in that category lol. I guess I should look into filtering myself more but got out of a 7-year relationship a couple months ago and it's hard to normalize yourself after that I guess, even if it's been many months since. Got home and loaded up TH-cam and just went to town on a lot of videos that night lol! I've seen some of the posts and was like whaaaaat because I got into hollow Earth theory, then on another one I typed like 20 paragraphs about the JFK assassination. On another one it was a solid 27 paragraphs about the Gliese star system that segued into theories about how Mars was humanities last homeworld and how Atlantis was a transdimensional ship that ferried our ancestors to Earth after it was terraformed over hundreds of years. Yeah, might not partake in hallucinogens again for a while LOL 😂!

The human condition is an anomaly to put it lightly and kindness is what keeps everything grounded due to our sentience and all such entails. I've had it rough when it comes to dealing with my recent issues in regards to love but I sort of lost myself during the shuffle and I'm re-learning who I once was after nearly a decade of both my wife and I sacrificing parts of ourselves to meet in the middle so the relationship was a two-way street. Maybe things will work out in the end, maybe not but either way we struggle on and learn which leads to growth. Sorry about rambling by the way, appreciate your content as I love the works of Tolkien and LOTRO is a great 3D portrayal of such. They made it easier to get mounts, and if you buy anything on the lotro store make sure you buy the account wide version. The yule festival is active right now, and you can earn beautiful mounts. Festival mounts will have to be earned by each character.
There’s technically a two-part quest in the tutorial that rewards a free mount so it‘s a lot easier to obtain, but yes, still need a character for every mount. Don’t necessarily need to purchase it anymore though.
The graphics, environment and landscape remained the same but its certainly changed when it comes down to classes, skills, and character stats.@@Leahbiabobia

1. Liking a game because you like the movies does not make it a good MMO. 2. Daily quests are good? No matter how good they're packaged. They are daily quests. 3. You don't care about end game content or group content? This opinion should be disregarded. You should rename this "Why I think it's the best MMO." There is another underrated MMORPG called Chimeralands. and it is even free. and it feels more complete then 60$ dollar games like Elden Ring or Monster Hunter
The graphics isn't even the biggest issue. The gameplay feel, the shitty response, almost NO effects when using skills/spells... that's awful. Oh god, the flighty movement, I'd forgotten about that.
Low playerbase is fine so long as you are able to at least find players when you need to, which can be a pain to do even in full servers. Pvp isnt a requirement to be a good mmo, only for people with WoW Brain. Bad graphics is a subjective argument that literally only applies to your own personal tastes. I find LOTRO to be quite enjoyable. If you dont then that is your business.
Nothing you presented here in any way would convince me to play this. You focused mainly on what is considered 'Ambience' and said nothing about character design/choices, general flow (Sandbox or scripted plot, though I think you were mostly dealing with scripted plot from what I have heard from others), and nothing about the mechanics of play.
honestly o would play the game if it didnt look like trash..... its not that hard to update the world with better graphics..... look at wow even the unchanged old zones still look "decent" compared to LOTRO
“Trash” is subjective. WoW looks okay but I find that i view LOTRO as way more charming than WoW. Then again I also prefer the way both FFXIV and FFXI look over WoW as well. Its all subjective.

Honestly, even before I was 7 I questioned all of that, wondered why people had filters and why we didn't just be honest with ourselves and throw the filters astray. There isn't enough love and affection in this world and we all have to work together to do our part just spreading love and kindness.

I've seen some of the posts and was like whaaaaat because I got into hollow Earth theory, then on another one I typed like 20 paragraphs about the JFK assassination.
On another one it was a solid 27 paragraphs about the Gliese star system that segued into theories about how Mars was humanities last homeworld and how Atlantis was a transdimensional ship that ferried our ancestors to Earth after it was terraformed over hundreds of years.

The human condition is an anomaly to put it lightly and kindness is what keeps everything grounded due to our sentience and all such entails.
I've had it rough when it comes to dealing with my recent issues in regards to love but I sort of lost myself during the shuffle and I'm re-learning who I once was after nearly a decade of both my wife and I sacrificing parts of ourselves to meet in the middle so the relationship was a two-way street.
Maybe things will work out in the end, maybe not but either way we struggle on and learn which leads to growth.
Sorry about rambling by the way, appreciate your content as I love the works of Tolkien and LOTRO is a great 3D portrayal of such. His works embody every possible emotion we can muster and his writings give us the tools necessary to surpass such obstacles.

Do I have to buy a mount for every character I create? If so, they are STILL at the bottom of the bowl.
They made it easier to get mounts, and if you buy anything on the lotro store make sure you buy the account wide version.
The yule festival is active right now, and you can earn beautiful mounts. Festival mounts will have to be earned by each character.
There’s technically a two-part quest in the tutorial that rewards a free mount so it‘s a lot easier to obtain, but yes, still need a character for every mount. Don’t necessarily need to purchase it anymore though.

Honestly the only thing holding me back is the extremely dated graphics from 2007.
And that is a fair point. I know they were going to try and get the graphics re-done but I have no idea where the process of that is at.

Low playerbase is fine so long as you are able to at least find players when you need to, which can be a pain to do even in full servers. Pvp isnt a requirement to be a good mmo, only for people with WoW Brain. Bad graphics is a subjective argument that literally only applies to your own personal tastes. I find LOTRO to be quite enjoyable. If you dont then that is your business.
Nothing you presented here in any way would convince me to play this. You focused mainly on what is considered 'Ambience' and said nothing about character design/choices, general flow (Sandbox or scripted plot, though I think you were mostly dealing with scripted plot from what I have heard from others), and nothing about the mechanics of play.
Tbh you were probably never going to play in the first place and were simply looking for another reason as to why you were not going to play this.

honestly o would play the game if it didnt look like trash..... its not that hard to update the world with better graphics..... look at wow even the unchanged old zones still look "decent" compared to LOTRO
“Trash” is subjective. WoW looks okay but I find that i view LOTRO as way more charming than WoW. Then again I also prefer the way both FFXIV and FFXI look over WoW as well. Its all subjective.
