Some Things Which can be cleared to make things much simpler 1. You should run rpm-ostree upgrade before upgrading to bazzite or installing apps (0:29) 2. You can use discover to check the status of download of rpm-ostree (2:51) 3. You're flatpak might be enable already Thanks for the guide it helped out a ton
Glad the guide helped. 1) That's a good point to do an rpm-ostree upgrade first before rebasing as that would drastically reduce the size of the download to rebase to Bazzite 2) That's the first I've heard of that, I'll try it out and see 3) I think you still need to run the ujust command at the end to install the Bazzite flatpak packages.
Having trouble installing bazzite-deck-stable.iso on a fresh 1TB ssd for the GPD Win Mini 2024 , not dual booting with windows - I'm not sure where the issue is. Is the kernel installed separately from the main iso? iso says x86 though the Win Mini is an x64 system, is this to do with the desktop environment? Will I have to use GNOME instead of KDE? Any help would be appreciated!
You mentioned that you are having trouble installing Bazzite. What error message are you getting? Bazzite works fine on X64 systems, a lot of ISOs will show x86_64, so specify that it supports both x86 and x64. Gnome or KDE is up to you. If you are more used to the Windows desktop stick with KDE desktop environment, if you want something different, then you can try Gnome. For installation issues you'd be better off checking out the Bazzite subreddit www.reddit.com/r/Bazzite or checking on the Bazzite documentation docs.bazzite.gg
@@drakemallard6100 I had a quick look at the source code. It looks like bazzite-arch-gnome is the same as bazzite-arch but it has xdg-desktop-portal-gnome so it can access the host system gnome resources from the container. Since you using Silverblue, you would definitely want to try this one rather than bazzite-arch.
If you want a desktop experience, you could just rebase to the desktop image, note that it doesn't have gamemode. If that's not an option, you could try the undocumented method `ujust _toggle-autologin` but that can give issues from time to time, which is why it's undocumented
Glad the video helped. Just be careful when switching between desktop environments apparently it can mess up the config files in your home directory. I think KDE 6 will be good after it has matured for 3-6 months.
@@mikes-tech-tips I did the same, then read in the docs later that this is not recommended. I'm also find a lot of errors happening in the background that aren't readily obvious during daily use, I happened to find them while researching why gnome-shell was crashing - which, now I believe may be related. My intent is to do a clean install with gnome so I can verify whether that was the core problem, or whether the extension (breezy) was driving the crash.
Yup. You can rebase from Fedora Silverblue to Bazzite Gnome and Fedora Kinoite to Bazzite KDE. It's not recommended to rebase between Desktop environments.

Is there any way to just add the bazzite game optimisations to Silverblue without rebasing completely? Could this be done with ublue images?
You should be able to use the Distrobox approach and the instructions here github.com/ublue-os/bazzite-arch but I'm not sure what the limitations are.

Rebased from Bazzite KDE to Bazzite Gnome flawlessly after KDE 6 released and has been nothing but buggy for me, thanks a ton!
