I have searched for this movie for years! On the last day of school before Christmas we would gather in the school auditorium and watch this movie, one about a shoemaker and elves and one about a Christmas tree. What wonderful memories when Christmas was so magical! Thank you for sharing!
This is the first time I have ever seen this classic, delightful 1946/1956? Castle film Christmas movie Twas the Night Before Christmas! I was born in the late fall of 1978 in central Kentucky and grew up in northern Kentucky! This excellent live action, perfect narration, with the beautiful animation, beautiful costumes, furniture, props, shoes, sets and special effects is fun to watch! My father bought a 16mm projector when he returned from WW2 and this was one of the films I grew up with. We loved this film. It brings back so many memories.

Our Dad got the reel to reel out and played this for my sister and I each Christmas every when we were little., no sound, he read the subtitles to us. It was tradition!

What fond memories I have of this Christmas Movie; it was played each Christmas at our school at the time I still believed in Santa coming to our homes at Christmas.

@@Laufield For Adults Santa Clause is not real but for the Make Believe World of young children He can be real. It is all about having fun for the Christmas to enjoy the Christmas Holiday, kids and adults together.

My birth year. So nice!
This was not from 1956, this was from 1946 according to the copyright on the end title. I have the same version on 8mm which was silent with text that are superimposed instead of inter titles with Castle Films titles and the Super 8 sound version with no Castle Films opening and closing.

Why use brackets in the title? It isn't an additional statement, but the actual title. Great vintage/classic 'short'! Love this!
