Thanks for the clear explanation. It is good to show the diagram and then the test setup. Most videos only explain the diagram or only show the test rig. Then you get lost putting the two together.
Thank you for the comment. Either old or new cable, the high pot results such as leakage currents, voltage withstand time, should be as per the standards.
Converters and inverters are used to transform AC into DC and vice a versa. At transformer ends only AC is applied. Transformer does not work on DC current.
The test voltage level is set by the controls on the incoming 230V before the auto-transformer. The voltage is stepped up in the Test Transformer to the required level and only then is the AC from the secondary rectified to DC and applied to the test object. DC does not flow through the transformer. The diagram shows only one diode but it represents a sophisticated rectifier unit that produces a smoother DC output.
Thanks. In my Hipot Kit for DC, In the diode how much oil should be there. In our case it is 50%. as there is a small hair line crack at the top of diode. is it recommended to test when the oil in diode is only 50%. What oil is used to top up. Thanks

@@pietervdberg7055 Thank you so much for the comment.
Thanks for sharing...very informative topic and well explained
Thank you for the comment
its really good information to understand Hipot testing
Thank you for the comment.
Thank you grest explaination.
Welcome
Lucid and elegant!!!!!!
Thanks Sir
Thank you for the comment.
Super 👌 sir your explanation is very good
Thank you for the comment.
Cuales son las valores maximos de corriente fuga o cual es el standard
I have had a good time
Very good information.
Thank you for the comment
Thanks for sharing this great experience. One question: How much the Hi-pot test results should differ between old and new cables? Regards

@@ElectroGlobe1 what about the test voltage values?
@@nerosmero1183 In the video reference standards are mentioned for test voltage values.
But when you apply DC voltage to primary of transformer you will get 0 output so how can you apply voltage

Sir if you break it down to its components, How does your test transformer can produce up to 60KV of voltage from 230 volts. please explain.
By using Transformers.
The test transformer in the diagram is a step-up transformer meaning the voltage is stepped up (increased) to the required kV level to do the test.
GREAT MY FRIEND
You are doing well dear

Thank you for the comment. It is advisable to refer to the manufacturers manual.
Good job
Thank you for the comment.
Sir, at end+ 1700 I am not getting please explain
The Values are as per the standard.
Didn't shown leakage current during test
How much leakage current?
Leakage current was around = 0.5 mAmp
Thanks
