I'm looking for a simple CNC project that uses Fusion 360 for the CAD and CAM. This seems like a good candidate. If you have time, I would appreciate it if you did a video on your workflow. I'm still trying to understand Fusion and how to use it with my CNC and a simple starter project would be helpful. I expect I'm not the only one who this would help.
Great suggestion @gizmo bowen . I’ll definitely consider this!! I remember when I started down the CNC rabbit hole and wished that there was a go to video to wrap my head around the process and workflow. I will attempt to create a video to cover this in the next few months…. Unfortunately time is hard to find but I will do my best 😁
My 1st attempt using Cedar was not good, very stringy fibres, edges & urface chipping away. Debris remains in V-Carve lettering. What can i do to stabilise Cedar for machining?
Great question! Unfortunately depending on the density of different types of timbers, this can be a common issue. Here are some possible solutions that I have used: - manually sand - when cutting any tool path, make a 2 finish passes on the same height. If you can figure out how to do this in reverse on the 2nd pass, even better! - apply a fast setting lacquer or sealant to harden the fibers in between final passes. - change vbit tool to a sharper version. - use cactus juice to stabilize timber before cutting (this is over kill!!) Final choice: - don’t use this timber for detailed carvings… there might be more dense Cedar timber or chose another species.
Nice work , 👍🏾 thanks to share
Nicely shot video. Very cool project too.
Thanks @Dale Nimmo 😄
