What a beautiful day this was to go to Idylewild. Great savings with gas! Some people don't understand, 'til you actually show them. Cleaning out the lines with bleach is only common sense for some, so glad you took the time to share this cleaning out the water lines. I will do mine that way, but for now, I'd be happy finding someone to air out my water lines so I could take a normal shower. God bless & safe travels to you both. I guess you do miss that cute 'lil Lady next to you, because this cute 'lil ole Lady really has nothing to say to you👵! After all she still gets her incredibly delicious pie! I just moved out of California, and although I will be going back to visit family that is the only draw back to there! Especially this time of year with all the fires! I was just so glad to finally just pack up my VW bug and take off! I haven't rebought everything because I am planning on buying an RV to start off with and then eventually a sailboat to live on/in. I just don't miss fire season and all the sickness the smoke caused me!
I think we are finding out what you are saying, how the smoke can make you feel sick.

Pie! I like when you all can find Gluten Free places. I have Celiac Disease and come from a Pie Family. We love pie! I use GF pie crusts and GF graham cracker crumbs for crusts. Craving a Pumpkin Pie lately 😁

We have been to Idyllwild about 4 years ago. Saw my first Stellerjay. It was beautiful. The day we left Thousand Trails it snowed, it sleet, it rained. 4 miles down to Idyllwild it was sunny. Go figure

We just bought a new 2020 Hyundai ionic.... it’s a hybrid that’s giving me 55-60 mpg. No brainer !! I’ll be following Craig this October from wa to the RGV. We bought a lot in llano grande RV resort and country club. It’ll be nice to have that “private” time on the road. Be safe be well. ❤️

Just a thought - Best to purge the cold water and hot water lines separately to be sure that you're getting the proper amount of bleach or sanitizer in both. The hot water tank has 6 to 10 gallons of water and it needs to run longer.
We have a tankless water heater.

Not 100% yet but we really want an Airstream this time around. It will meet our wants and needs so much better. It’s good to experience the full time RV life in different RVs. A live and learn experience. Always remember, one RV that is great for one person, family or couple is not always the best option for another. 😊🤓

If you’re ever in Southern California again you should try going to Solvang and Buellton they have a really great Dutch community and it’s a great visitor spot they have wineries , emu farm ,food ,outdoor theater and it’s protected where there’s no big businesses like Walmart or anything like that there. I know it sounds weird but it’s great for small businesses and it’s a wonderful place to visit you should really try it out. and they also have the Chumash casino right by there so there’s also parking available and there’s also some RV parks I believe on the way there as well.

Thanks Mike. The hail wasn’t big enough to do any damage even to an Airstream. We’ve seen an Airstream in larger hail and it didn’t do any damage. A lot of times when hail is big enough to do damage, it also does damage to your vehicle. It’s something to always think about though. But after 54 years, I have never been in a large hail storm even living in Iowa. Uh oh, better knock on wood! 😉😂

Have only been in Cali once. Went to a convention in Reno once and decided upon leaving I wasn't gonna take the small roads we took to get there, so went over the pass out of Reno and into Cali. Then drove south all the way down Cali. Hit LA traffic at rush hour!! I will NEVER do that again!!! Made it to a friend's avocado ranch in Temecula and chilled out for a couple days. WHEW! Anxiety can be a b*tch at times! LOL Maybe I was just young and dumb. LMAO Safe travels guys! I feel like you two are becoming part of my family. ♥

Hey guys, thanks for the concern. 🧡 The Fire is actually on the other side of I-10 up in higher elevation. It’s still a ways away from us. We shared a picture on our Facebook and Instagram this afternoon as we drove down the mountain and could see it at a distance. Hope the contain it quickly and people are safe.
I really love Shermans but that is a long drive to get there from your camp spot.
Only about an hour, it’s where we had to go anyway for the groceries we needed. We try to spare you everything we do. 😉😂

Aww that was sweet Lisa! 🧡 We are still loving this lifestyle! You just made me realize something I’ve noticed. As you may remember, Michelle wasn’t very keen on the full-time RVing idea at all from the very beginning. As time goes on I have seen her loving this lifestyle more and more and her excitement has even grown still to this day. We will be full-time two years on Thanksgiving day this year. 🧡😊🤓

We’re really not sure when or exactly what yet. We don’t want to buy in CA and we are still waiting to give it more time to sell Vinny, especially with the market the way it is right now.

No, have not heard anything of that and nobody else here has had to either. Seems to be a lot of misinformation floating around ever since this virus.
So let the speculation begin. No dilly dolly likely means no more toad. No more toad = no class A or C. Michelle is way to valuable as a copilot and navigator so you need her in whatever cab you have. So either a travel trailer or a 5th wheel trailer. And from the other vids I assume y’all leaning towards an airstream.

Yeah, as we mentioned in the video...we just went ahead and sold it now so that we didn’t have to worry about being stuck with a dolly if/when someone buys the coach OR if we trade the coach in with the dolly, we would have no idea what we would really be getting for the dolly. So selling it relievers that stress and as seen in the video, Michelle just follows along. She really enjoyed not being in the coach coming up the mountains to Idyllwild. 😂 we are anxious to figure out what it is we will get too. In the meantime, Michelle will follow behind. I agree, she 🤓 is a VERY valuable co-pilot. 😊 I will always love the Class A but we are excited to get the new rig.

do you ever have stops for fuel where with the tsd card you actually pay more than what the price was for diesel? lol....i have a couple times on our current trip. bummer. still worth it to me to be able to fuel up in the truck lanes instead of the auto lanes.
Oh my! No we have not had that happen! 😳 I always look at our route, then look at how much fuel we have in the tank and look at how far it says we can go on the current fuel...then I look at what the best discounts are (Like at a TA) and find the furthest away TA on our route without being too far that we would run out of fuel (of course). That way when we fill up we are getting the most value from the best discount. We had about 1/4 of a tank left when we filled up in this video. TA/Petro has been having the best rates lately. I wonder why you ended up paying more than what it said at the pump? I would send TSD an email about that.
@@LivinRVision these were at little conoco stations that were listed as on the efs card. needed diesel, got no discount, but had to pay the ach transaction fee. no big deal....lol.

what about The problem with the generator you are running the AC and charging two 100 amp lithium batteries at the same time. Turn off the circuit breaker that goes to your charger
Hi Byron, not sure exactly what you’re referring to. Also, we don’t have any lithium batteries.

Absolutely! It would be way too expensive staying at campgrounds if we didn’t. Even just staying a few months out of the year with TT makes it worthwhile. We would still buy the resale membership like we did also because of the savings and the benefits you get that are not part of the newer memberships that TT sells directly. Also, the new TT memberships you can sell later BUT you pay a LOT more for them and once you sell, you don’t get even half of your money back. With a resale, even though you can not resale them later...you pay less than half of the original cost, which makes it a no-brainer. Example: If you spend $50 a night at a campground, it takes only 72 nights that you would of paid $3,600. That’s less than 3 months. Some of the best memberships can cost around $3,600 ish. This is using $50 as an average, but as you can see, it doesn’t take long to pay for itself even if you don’t stay at Thousand Trails all the time. And that $3,600 ish was just a one time payment for your membership. Now all you pay after that is your yearly dues of around $565. Adding the Trails Collection for $299 a year is also worthwhile. That’s where we stayed in the Florida Keys for only $20 a night and most others for free. That is correct and was the biggest drawback for us too, which after doing the math and realizing we will want to stay at some other places during the year in areas with no Thousand Trails...it still made sense as explained above...it only takes 3 months out of 12 to pay for itself and most of us want to stay along the coastal areas the majority of the year. Any membership you find will have drawbacks like anything else - but, Thousand Trails offers the very best bargain with a lot of campgrounds that you can find. Adding the Trails Collection also enables you to stay in one area longer where they have Encore and Thousand Trails campgrounds where you can go back and fourth in that area... 21 days at a TT, the go down the street to an Encore (Trails Collection) for 14 days and then back to the TT in that same area. Also helps keep your fuel spending down as well as free camping. There are many benefits that you don’t hear from many others. We have tested the system for nearly 2 years now and honestly...if it didn’t work, we would be doing something different. A lot of the older campgrounds are also being upgraded. It will take time to get them all upgraded but we have witnessed that it is happening. Hope that helps. 👍🏻

Hi Mark, that’s ok. Many reasons but the main is Michelle absolutely refuses to drive Vinny. Numerous other reasons has to do with OUR wants/needs. It’s something that we want to try out for at least a while. As you know, there’s not one type of RV that is best for everyone even though there are a lot of people that swear by certain RVs and suggest it’s for everyone. 😄 Those Rubens! 😋

It seriously wasn’t that bad. A lot of people do get intimidated because of the size, but I think the Class A is very easy to drive. 😊
Your views are even better sitting up that high. We have driven both routes back and fourth and the route through Banning is even more windy but is shorter to get back down out of the mountain area.
It is a beautiful drive, I live in a small town called Yucaipa right next door to Idyllwild. Love to beat the heat up there but when its busy it is a nightmare 😁Many safe travels to you both!

It’s was good to see the area I grew up in, Palm Springs. Sherman’s!!! It doesn’t get any better. Many years ago the location of the Palm Springs Sherman’s was a deli named Buddy’s just as good but sadly when the owner gave it to her daughter it went out of business.

Was the drive up HWY 74 easier than taking HWY 243 out of Banning to Idyllwild?

The drive on 74 is longer but not as continuously winding as 243. We have driven both a few times and for the car we like taking 243 just to get down quicker and then take the I-10 wherever we are going. I seriously don’t mind driving either. I love sitting up high in the Class A with all the beautiful views. Nerve wrecking to passenger though. 😂🤣😉
I always took 74 when I lived in palm Desert but when I lived in PS I mainly took 243. Not sure if they still launch but Vista Point on 74 was where the hang gliders always took off from was always cool to watch them. Take a trip over to oak glen CA if you have time. Maybe an hour from you
why did you guys sell dolly and what year is your RV
RV is a 2009. We wanted to sell the dolly first before we change RVs. No matter what we decide on next, we don’t want a dolly.

Your audio mix is off at times, when you are on camera missing right channel or very low in level.

One of your commenters recommended you go to Oak Glen. I wouldn’t recommend that. There is nothing worth while up there anymore. What IS there is pretty junky. And, it is way too hot right now. Oak Glen has gone downhill!

So what did your price per gallon end up ? I generally find the truck stops to be more expensive
It was on the rate sheet when we were comparing and that’s what you would naturally look for when you are looking and comparing.
We never just look at how much per gallon the discount is. We didn’t mention that because we figured that’s something that would obviously be in the equation. As you know, it would be useless of course if the price per gallon was a much higher. I do remember they were only one or two cents difference at that time. I believe the price per gallon may of also been on the email receipt we shared on the video as well wasn’t it? No?
Like I mentioned, the price per gallon is something that I look at only when comparing and figuring out which place is best to stop at for the best overall discount. Loves used to give a much higher discount average but they changed that. If it wasn’t such a good deal to have, there wouldn’t be so many people using the discount card. It’s truly a no-brainer. 👍🏻😊
