Ollie - You need to make a long handled tool with a U shaped end 90º to the shaft. If the interior sides of the U were the same size as the diameter of your pressure pipes you could hold the nozzle against the end of the U by holding the pipe. You would then have more control as you pushed the pipe into an unseen hole. The tool would then be extracted once you found the hole (so to speak).
Imagine having cloacaphobia, katsaridaphobia, claustrophobia and antlophobia and having to follow your dad into the plumbing business in Oz. Signed, someone who had to search for katsaridaphobia.
I'm not particularly fastidious, but there's a level at which your job is a complete horror show to me. I am glad you and ratty are doing that job so I don't have to.
