I finally got to watch the finals. WOW!!! man there were some great matches. GG to all of the runners and congratulations to Airwick. Thanks Toby for putting on the tournaments. Can't wait for the world championships.
@TooTallToby Yeah, the competitors were awesome, the parts were difficult (well, a lot of them were), saw some cool tricks and moves.. After watching that, I don't even know if i wanna compete anymore. Lol! It was awesome! Great show, man! As always..
I have been working the last few models in the contest and I was surprised at the number of Toby Features. The zero thickness extrude problems in the Post Collar part were unexpected but fun to work around. Excellent contest production work, looking forward to the next one.
Thanks so much to the team @TooTallToby for putting on this tournament. I really enjoyed the challenge! Not so much the 4am alarms... 😴 For any that are interested, I've made a video talking through my failure in the Final 4 against @Airwick and finally nailing those models. th-cam.com/video/2-F9LvYcpjo/w-d-xo.html Congrats again to @Airwick on a great championship win!
Nice stream. Regrettably couldn’t make it. Have had a crack on the March challenge and right now I can beat everyone but airwick with my current strat on inventor. Will submit my recording before the month is up. Seems like he can get super optimised on onshape - first time I’ve ever heard of this software!
Fusion only had 1 person enter the tournament, and unfortunately he got knocked out in the first round. I always advertise on the fusion message boards and the fusion sub-reddit, but we never seem to get many runners. ALL CAD ARE WELCOME :-)
the first battle was a mistake Dom was robbed of his victory. Imants had the weight of 3045g, which is not the correct answer. He got that weight with the material of 2700kg/m^3 density. But the print says 7800kg/m^3 density. The correct mass should be 8798g. How both Toby and Imants had the same mistake is beyond me. I am also not fun at parties.
lol - "I am also not fun at parties" I took a look and you're correct - the material was listed as 1060 alloy but the density was listed as 7800kg/m^3 - which is incorrect. Good catch! Occasionally I'll make a mistake that gets through the auditing process - and this was one of them. My bad, and I apologize for letting this one slip through. We do have a rules page here: tootalltoby.com/tournaments/2024/spring_open/tournament_rules/ and at the bottom of this page there is a section to cover this scenario - TooTallToby and Team’s Discretion:.... I think in this specific circumstance the point being awarded to Imants is justified and should stand. He created a clean model and all the geometry was correct. And Don was struggling with that rib. Had the print shown the correct density, I believe the outcome would have been the same. Thanks for pointing it out - a good reminder to check and double check the density - since this field is not currently dynamically linked.
Airwick dereserve this champion gold medal with in my opinion the hardest way to final. He made so many comebacks.
I think you should come next season in favour of solidworks
Completely agree! Airwick had a brutal path and fought valiantly to find his way to victory!!

Thanks RichPenn! Yeah these were some fun models in the semi finals and finals!
What an amazing watch
I agree!!
what was the weight answer to the glitched CAD drawing at 55:56?
2166g?
I have 2116 as the answer to that one

Awesome! Good luck on the leaderboard!!
why is it almost never Fusion vs others

@@TooTallToby you put way too much effort in it. I was just upset I was slower, but this time, luckily, I had an excuse.
