My laptop has HD 4000 graphics and I haven't replaced it after 6-7 years of use because it gets the job done and plays a fair amount of games. Great video, you've pointed out a couple more games I can add to what I've got installed. I had no idea Far Cry 3 would run that well on it.

They're finally catching up the competition 😃 And if your comment was actually confusion (not surprised), then what they mean about a dedicated option is that there will be a separate card called the graphics processing unit (GPU) that draws its own video random access memory (VRAM), for applications involving higher graphics-related data and instructions, instead of sharing the system VRAM from the central processing unit (CPU). Basically, every computer needs the CPU to even function at all so how fast any application on your computer runs is dependent on your CPU, so if you have your GPU integrated then it also pulls the VRAM from the CPU ultimately providing less frames per second (FPS) for your game; which if you're a true gamer, you know that's a game changer for the worst 😒
Been using this card but with an i3 instead for 7 years. I decided to spare $600 and bought a used PC from a friend that has a 2070 and i7. Best decision I've ever made. I love this build.
The massive stutter issue in CS GO only occurs in modes like Arms Race and Deathmatch (intensive maps with alot of people respawning), i have tried competetive mode and it runs really well.

I have never been let down by the HD4000 graphics in my HP 2000. Even though it seriously underperformed in any games, the gpu was somehow still (barely) usable in editing and modelling software. Granted, I upgraded to 16GB of DDR3-1600 in dual channel which seriously improved the experience, but I felt like the iGPU was very balanced with the dual core i5 I was running.
Intel HD 4400 is when Intel HD Graphics started getting respectable. Intel HD 2000 is the infamous bad one I'd say. Just imagine how horrible the integrated graphics of the Core 2 Duo era were. I remember seeing a RandomGaminginHD video on the Dell Optiplex 755 (from that era) where adding a GeForce 210 gave 4x-5x more fps in GTA: Vice City than the iGPU!
I've been pushing my poor old hd4000 to it's absolute limits. I actually had to scale down what I was doing with it for fear of damaging it. Also it's in a laptop so I'm stuck with it for now

yo me pase por completo fallout 4 en mi laptop que tiene la hd4000, de echo hasta subi un video mostrandolo, fue lo mas pesado que pude jugar alli, puedo decir que fueron buenos momentos, me pase darksiders 1, 2, half life 2 y los left 4 dead que fueron los primeros juegos que queria jugar y pude hacerlo con esa integrada.

Kryzzp you should keep a check on valorant patch notes from now on as the devs break is finished, that's why the optimization is horrible, I want to see what kinda fps is possible after that
I tested Intel HD 4400 (with i3-4030u cpu). With 8gb ram this card was capable of handling Infinite Warfare and Hitman from 2016. I even managed to play Hitman 2 but the fps count was around 16-18
My first experience with Intel HD “4000” was a Windows 8.1 $99 tablet with a quad core Atom and 2 GB of ram. I WAS BLOWN AWAY! The Pentium 4 laptop that powered most of my kid PC gaming experience until now seemed almost disgraceful when the last second Christmas present my uncle bought absolutely decimated everything I could throw at it (Halo CE, CoD 4/WaW, GTA 4 etc) at least in comparison to the 512mb mobile P4 set up I was used too. Anyway I never realized it wasn’t the full Intel HD 4000 till I had long since moved on gaming to a real gaming PC but I’ll always have a soft spot for the chip and this video was a great help with a recently free secondhand laptop I was given!
Hello Kryzzp, Valheim just released an update and it includes some graphical optimizations. Could you do an update for the low end GPUs and see how it fares? Some of my cards had a huge increase in FPS for that game and I'm pretty sure that it's going to be worth looking at.
I have been surviving with intel hd 4000 since 2015. I had enough money to upgrade but you know how the current PC market is. I mostly play indie games and fighting games. They are less demanding compared to other games. It also plays some indies released last year. like Hotshot Racing and Ultrakill. Also Project warlock plays really well Tip: Create a custom resolution 1024x576 Which is really good for a 768p 14inch display

So many times HD 4000 has saved me in a hard times when my GPU's were dying. Played BF3 and Minecraft on it just fine, before revive my 1060 with ̶d̶e̶f̶i̶b̶r̶i̶l̶l̶a̶t̶o̶r̶ ̶ the iron.
I were using that igpu a year ago on my old rusty desktop with some creepy i5 cpu, It was nice to use and yes we can absolutely do light gaming on that thing flawlessly, it is still a very good option for low budget gamers who can't afford high end machine.

Actually the legend is HD4400. I used to play gta 5 in my old pc having HD4400.That time I didn't know anything about resolution so it was 1080p I guess and I kept searching on the internet 'Why is my game on slow motion?'
Due to a business trip I had to bring my ancient Lenovo laptop, thinking I can do the missing grind for the Kurohana crate in COD Mobile on this in my spare time - forgot it. The amount of lag it has even on lowest possible setting makes the game totally unplayable... and since corporate policy forbids installing games on my brand new business laptop, I think this time I can kiss goodbye for the only legendary weapon Activision offered for free. Unfortunately I always played the game on emulators and not gonna be a skilled mobile player overnight ... HD 4000 isn't worth a dime in 2014, ancient tech.
Intel originally designed it to be a display GPU. It’s no surprise that it can’t play games with breeze. The fact that it can actually run games is amazing. That’s why Apple decided to use Intel graphics on most of their Macs in the early 2010s. Because mobile GPUs in that era were pretty problematic, and Apple had a bad reputation for GPU problems. It was in the later 2010s when Apple finally decided to start using mobile GPUs once the reliability was there.

I've played a bunch of old games on an old Intel 2nd gen laptop with HD 3000 igpu(It even ran Crysis 1, 2 and Warhead on 720 low, amazingly enough). Anything that can run on dx9 will definitely run on hd an 4000 but you shouldn't really expect more than 20-30fps even on low settings. For me, 20fps is playable for single player games.

I don't know if you forgot, but the driver version was quite outdated and intel did provide performance improvements between that driver and the latest one released all the way back in 2020!
I've used Intel HD 4000 for most of the time I spent on pc, I had too many sufferings. Crashes, FPS increasing configs that make the game look like a japanese porn, finishing games on 10 FPS.. Finally I got my new gaming laptop and those days left behind, but there is something that makes me miss those days.
Hey guys, I'm using an Intel Graphic 4000 with an i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz. I've been using it for a while (2 years) and I'll list some games I already tested (someone may find it useful): Minecraft: Newer versions runs pretty poorly (1.17+), Optifine helps a lot! CSGO: Low settings and 800x600 resolution is playable(60 fps in most maps, besides Ancient) Rocket League: The game itself runs good, but it takes forever to open the damn game. Recently, the game crashes a bit. Sleeping Dogs: Playable in 1280x720, although in lowest settings(30 fps with some stuttering Saints Row 3: Playable but annoying fame drops when driving a car (30 fps most of the time) Saints Row 4: If you really want to play it you should consider switching to the lowest resolution possible, and even so I was not satisfied with the result. Mass Effect 1 & 2: Runs smoothly even with high settings and good resolution at 30 fps. (Mass Effect 3 I have not checked yet, but probably runs smoothly too) Far Cry 2: Low settings and 1280x720 runs at 30-50 fps. Far Cry 3: Runs poorly, maybe if you play in lower resolutions. Persona 4: 60 fps most of the times, occasionally some frame drops but this won't annoy you. Persona 3 (with emulators): Pretty much playable with decent fps. Telltale games and Life is Strange: Runs pretty good with high settings! Dragon Age: Good resolution and high settings, overall you get decent fps. Skyrim: Very much playable and I heavily mod this game, I have more than 200 mods and get 30 fps. Assassins Creed 2: Medium settings and 1280x720 resolution runs at 30-40 fps with some fps drops (pretty much playable) Neo The World Ends With You: Playable at decent resolution and low settings, loadings may take a while tho Dragon's Dogma: Playable at 30 fps with low settings and 1280x720 resolution (this actually surprised me). Some places you'll suffer fps drops. Hades: Low-Medium settings and 1280x720 resolution and you are good to go. Disco Elysium: Loadings take a while, but it's playable (30 fps). Black Desert: Doesn't even try it. That's all I can remember it for now, I've probably tested more games so if you have some questions I'll try to answer it!
I am agree with you Kryzzp, CoD Black Ops 2 is a very good optimized game, but for me CoD MW3 is the most well optimized game from the series. I played it with a laptop with I3 370m, ATi Radeon HD 5650 1GB and 3GB of RAM on Ultra with no problem.
The Intel HD 4000 on my 15 inch 2012 MacBook Pro still hold up good. Just like in this video GTA V and CSGO are pretty playable at 720p lowest graphics
That Fortnite glitch thing is there for years basically from launch nothing to do with any recent updates. It's actually much better now like 2 years ago the whole school would become white with weird red and green lights kindoff
As a person who purchased a potato pc as a kid and thought it was the same as a gaming pc and ended up with this piece of garbage for 6 years straight, yes it is even worse, take it from me since like I said I've been gaming on it for 6 years, then purchased a 1650 laptop.

For Minecraft, you should go into jungles to test the performance. Jungles are probably the most intensive biomes to run.

"Bad" is relative. I think iGPUs are a useful feature in general, like a spare tire.
@Float Samples Just because you don't have to pay extra doesn't mean it's free. It's cheaper, more cost effective, but not free.
You gotta think that Intel QuickSync is the best video encoder for performance.

Just keep in mind that you might loose around 20% of performance compared to the video.

those temps are a bit too high, I'd replace the thermal paste, clean the laptop from dust and buy a cooling pad, that'll help a lot :)

I have the same PC, same CPU , same ram. But Ive managed to OC @4.4Ghz and 1.240v. With a RTX3060ti, I can run everything , pretty impressive.
I dont like using hd 4000 but when my nvidia gt 635m decides to go into driver fails i am dependent on this so yeah they are lifesavers some times

I were using that igpu a year ago on my old rusty desktop with some creepy i5 cpu, It was nice to use and yes we can absolutely do light gaming on that thing flawlessly, it is still a very good option for low budget gamers who can't afford high end machine.
The GPU that i used to play ARK on for over 300 hours. ;)

@@xstongames4778 Give or take haha. I could make anything run on that gpu, i got 25 fps in for honor but it looked so horrible that i could count every pixel on the screen. Still played for like 70 hours like that.

Many pre-2007 games are decent, like Red Alert 3. Perfectly playable with HD 4000
Due to a business trip I had to bring my ancient Lenovo laptop, thinking I can do the missing grind for the Kurohana crate in COD Mobile on this in my spare time - forgot it. The amount of lag it has even on lowest possible setting makes the game totally unplayable... and since corporate policy forbids installing games on my brand new business laptop, I think this time I can kiss goodbye for the only legendary weapon Activision offered for free. Unfortunately I always played the game on emulators and not gonna be a skilled mobile player overnight ... HD 4000 isn't worth a dime in 2014, ancient tech.
Intel originally designed it to be a display GPU. It’s no surprise that it can’t play games with breeze. The fact that it can actually run games is amazing. That’s why Apple decided to use Intel graphics on most of their Macs in the early 2010s. Because mobile GPUs in that era were pretty problematic, and Apple had a bad reputation for GPU problems. It was in the later 2010s when Apple finally decided to start using mobile GPUs once the reliability was there.

I remember all of my laptops in high school had an intel HD 4000. Trying to run low spec graphics for everything was a HASSLE
The hd4000 is surprisingly good for early to mid 2010s gaming. And you can extract more performance on 800x600(4:3) or 1064x600(16:9).
I am guessing that the Intel 4000 igpu is about the same performance of a 8600gt video card in BF3. I am surprised.

I've played a bunch of old games on an old Intel 2nd gen laptop with HD 3000 igpu(It even ran Crysis 1, 2 and Warhead on 720 low, amazingly enough). Anything that can run on dx9 will definitely run on hd an 4000 but you shouldn't really expect more than 20-30fps even on low settings. For me, 20fps is playable for single player games.

I don't know if you forgot, but the driver version was quite outdated and intel did provide performance improvements between that driver and the latest one released all the way back in 2020!
I've used Intel HD 4000 for most of the time I spent on pc, I had too many sufferings. Crashes, FPS increasing configs that make the game look like a japanese porn, finishing games on 10 FPS.. Finally I got my new gaming laptop and those days left behind, but there is something that makes me miss those days.
I remember growing up with this igpu, Assassin's creed 3 at 30 fps all low. Great time.

Hey guys, I'm using an Intel Graphic 4000 with an i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz. I've been using it for a while (2 years) and I'll list some games I already tested (someone may find it useful):
Minecraft: Newer versions runs pretty poorly (1.17+), Optifine helps a lot!
CSGO: Low settings and 800x600 resolution is playable(60 fps in most maps, besides Ancient)
Rocket League: The game itself runs good, but it takes forever to open the damn game. Recently, the game crashes a bit.
Sleeping Dogs: Playable in 1280x720, although in lowest settings(30 fps with some stuttering
Saints Row 3: Playable but annoying fame drops when driving a car (30 fps most of the time)
Saints Row 4: If you really want to play it you should consider switching to the lowest resolution possible, and even so I was not satisfied with the result.
Mass Effect 1 & 2: Runs smoothly even with high settings and good resolution at 30 fps. (Mass Effect 3 I have not checked yet, but probably runs smoothly too)
Far Cry 2: Low settings and 1280x720 runs at 30-50 fps.
Far Cry 3: Runs poorly, maybe if you play in lower resolutions.
Persona 4: 60 fps most of the times, occasionally some frame drops but this won't annoy you.
Persona 3 (with emulators): Pretty much playable with decent fps.
Telltale games and Life is Strange: Runs pretty good with high settings!
Dragon Age: Good resolution and high settings, overall you get decent fps.
Skyrim: Very much playable and I heavily mod this game, I have more than 200 mods and get 30 fps.
Assassins Creed 2: Medium settings and 1280x720 resolution runs at 30-40 fps with some fps drops (pretty much playable)
Neo The World Ends With You: Playable at decent resolution and low settings, loadings may take a while tho
Dragon's Dogma: Playable at 30 fps with low settings and 1280x720 resolution (this actually surprised me). Some places you'll suffer fps drops.
Hades: Low-Medium settings and 1280x720 resolution and you are good to go.
Disco Elysium: Loadings take a while, but it's playable (30 fps).
Black Desert: Doesn't even try it.
That's all I can remember it for now, I've probably tested more games so if you have some questions I'll try to answer it!

I am agree with you Kryzzp, CoD Black Ops 2 is a very good optimized game, but for me CoD MW3 is the most well optimized game from the series. I played it with a laptop with I3 370m, ATi Radeon HD 5650 1GB and 3GB of RAM on Ultra with no problem.

The Intel HD 4000 on my 15 inch 2012 MacBook Pro still hold up good. Just like in this video GTA V and CSGO are pretty playable at 720p lowest graphics

if you play minecraft with FABRIC instead of OPTIFINE you can easily get over 130 fps atleast i do anyways, never goes below 70 fps
As a person who purchased a potato pc as a kid and thought it was the same as a gaming pc and ended up with this piece of garbage for 6 years straight, yes it is even worse, take it from me since like I said I've been gaming on it for 6 years, then purchased a 1650 laptop.
