Jim :( R.I.P. How I miss his documentation writing style. Tektronix just can say Thank You Jim! I think he was a genius. I hope somebody will follow Jim's way in the Tektronix. He is piece of history in the electronic world.
I once met Bob Pease and have the photo of him and me. I never met Jim Williams, but I have collected much of his articles and design briefs (I tore out those pages of the magazines and saved), plus I have supposedly all the books he wrote, including the two that Bob Dobkin published after Jim's passing. Those two books together are some 2,200 pages of deep electronics know-how. Where Terman and some others gave us the basics, these men added the finesse. Thanks for all!!
Jim Williams was a consummate electronics engineer! If I had one one hundredth of his knowledge I would consider myself reasonably knowledgeable! Rip JIM.
My love for Tek scopes and Jim's writing started with AN-47, as a young student I found the Linear Application Handbook on the desk of my mentor. I was really interested in the way he build circuits and measured. The nice pictures of Tek scopes and ways to probe the circuits have served me well, of course I spent my first paycheck on a Tek scope. I could only afford a used 2235 but I still have it and use it from time to time. Thanks to those who went before us we can stand on the shoulders of giants.
an amazing man, wish I could have known him...... so much more to learn. we lost Bob Pease 7 days later after paying his respects to Jim when an Analog God needed his two best analog engineers back home.
I so admire his knowledge and courage and the his eagerness to share. Remembering Jim Williams.
We are incredibly lucky to have these videos of Jim Williams. RIP
Indeed one of the best analogue mastermind of my time. Respect and R.I.P!

Are these articles available anywhere, do you have them scanned?
It would be very interesting to read and also for archival.

Thank you Jim, that was great R.I.P.
Excellent analog engineer! May his soul rest in peace.
Well done!
Great ! That is how people live for ever and stay between us.
we lost a a truly legend
The very best...

He's not shivering . jetus you have never seen a person with Parkinson's before?
How much for these units the 581a how much does it cost?
RIP analog guru
Is he shivering?
Thread necro, but no, just a talented mind being failed by it's vessel.
