Yeah, it is sorta Soviet propaganda; but it's not like we in the West haven't done the same thing, glorifying us as the "heros". I find this really entertaining. Thanks Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, & Signor Mazzeo.
Look up the significance of the red poppy in Europe, Australia, and the US, as it relates to World War I. It is used as a symbol for remembrance of the war dead. It has a similar significance for the Chinese, and this play/opera has to do with relations between the Chinese and Russians. Again, the poppy is meant to remind us to honor the dead, although from a different time period.
The theme is immediately recognizable and it is so Russian. The musical background is magical and there is a playful quality about this scene. They are showing off but they know how to work together as one!
Даже тонкая восточная вязь в музыке ( немца?) Р. Глиэра восхитительна. Не говоря уж о "Яблочке". Классика есть классика. "Красный мак" есть "Красный мак." Ура!

@@jamihede4440 thank you for your thoughtful comment
I was supposed to play a solo version of this song on my clarinet- I really do love this piece. Kudos, Vito. Mazzeo!

I love the music because it is so dramatic!!! I have the music on a CD somewhere and it is not just the Sailors dance. It is the entire opera...

Is the snippet of bass line at the beginning a tribute to Tchaikovsky's RUSSIAN TREPAK? @0:29
Эх Яблочко
Was performed the full ballet?

В этом фрагменте почти полная копия реальной фольклорной песенки и танца моряков военного флота России начала 20 века. Причем тут "восточная вязь" ?
Can you kindly advise me from whose opera is this magnificient show. I find it impeccable and flawless. Most kind sentiments from Ankara, Turkey.
This ballet is called The Red Poppy
Is this available on DVD? Would love to purchase this somehow
Was it a professional performance or an amateur dancers group? Ironicaly ment.
This makes me want to seize the means of production.
