Because of this channel, I spotted Reginald Mobley singing with the choir at the coronation, I was so pleased to see him, I felt like a proud family member 😂
I also spotted him there and even shouted loudly for my husband that he had to come and have a look! I think he thought I was crazy because I asked at least 5 times, "So? Don't you know one of the singers?". And when he recognized Reginald Mobley, whom we both got to know through Brandon's videos, we sat together in front of the TV with a big grin on our faces!
Wonderful! The great delight of Brandon Acker's channel is that it widens one's musical horizons and introduces musical delights usually easily missed or overlooked following the more conventional musical pathways.
Glorious! As always, of course, dear Brandon, but as much as I enjoy solo content, every collaboration with Mr. Mobley is my new personal highlight of this channel! This may be due to my musical upbringing, in my youth I had singing lessons with a countertenor for a long time and with every video I think back to this time with joy. Although I more or less gave up music (violin, piano, singing) at the beginning of my university studies due to lack of time, the love for it remains! Especially the love for Renaissance and Baroque music, for which I used to be ridiculed in my circle of friends (it just wasn't so hip in the 80s), has remained with me, while the musical taste of my friends has partly adapted to the passage of time
@@brandonacker What makes your channel so great is not only the terrific quality of the performances, the insane work you put into it besides the recordings (e.g. the subtitling of vocal pieces), but also that you read the comments so conscientiously and comment so often, respond to questions asked, and thereby make everyone here feel involved and important to you ❤️
My first time seeing singing like this AND guitar live next to each other... wife just yelled down.."that's beautiful" what's that!? I said me in 4 yrs 😆
Bravo! You transport us to a world of heartfelt beauty, wonder and perfect artistry Reggie sings like a wistful angel, while Brandon provides a superbly quaint backdrop. Hoping for a collab album at some point.
Amazing! Finding your channel last week has been an absolutely amazing experience and I have been working my way through as many of your incredible videos as i can, thank you! ❤
So lovely to hear you both! Reginald's soothing voice and your beautiful playing are enchanting together. I could listen to you both for hours every single day.
Have you heard of Tone-gards? They protect the back of instruments from resting against your body so the back can vibrate properly while standing up. They make them for mandolins and dreadnought acoustic guitars, but maybe they can make one for a classical guitar.
I have heard the idea but people have been holding guitars against their chest for at least 500 years. I dont see why we should fix something that isn't broke.
@@brandonacker More volume for live unamplified performances is a pretty valid reason. But I've seen you use contraptions that people haven't used until recent years, like the leg rest. Nylon strings instead of gut. Just because something has been done a certain way doesn't mean it can't be improved upon.
I hear you and understand the motivation for it. I'm just convinced that the volume difference is marginal at best and it's really not a problem that we need to be worrying about. If someone did an experiment to show that it increased the volume 5% or more, I'd be interested but my bet is that the difference would not be noticed by the audience. The back of the instrument is also more of a reflector for the sound. The soundboard is what needs to vibrate as freely as possible. Lastly, it's also a question of how much pressure is applied to the back. If while playing you firmly press the back of the instrument against your chest (I just tried), you will hear some dampening. However, if you let the instrument rest against your chest lightly without pushing into it, I hear no difference in the sound whatsoever.
@@brandonacker That makes sense. Personally I'm pretty "heavy armed" while standing so it would be a bit more viable for me. But, honestly the volume aspect is secondary since I don't play for audiences, it's a tonal issue. The back is doing a lot of the overtone lifting, and by "smothering" the back, it doesn't allow those overtones to come through and makes the tone shallow. It would help if I weren't such an overtone addict
Beautiful as always my friend 🙏🏼 Question, is that guitar all maple (back and sides) or is it a spruce top with maple back and sides? It has the perfect tone for a performance like this which is why I ask :)

I am such a fan of Brandon Acker. Because of Brandon, i discovered Reginald Mobley. What a combo! Thank you gentlemen!
Damn that guy has the voice of an angel
Man, he sings with such ease. It's so good.
What a special voice--so easy. And he'll be singing in Blackheath NSW in April 2025, on Anzac Day.

@@sylvawrunner296 I appreciate that very much!
A countertenor with a chest voice, yay! 🤜
Oh, boy, amazing! If Reginald went for the high tonic note at the end (doubtless out of anyone's range), I'd have fallen through the floor.
Exquisite control and phrasing...simply beautiful.
that was beautiful! The singer has a lovely voice

These two have another two songs together from around 7 months ago. One is labeled "the song that got me into baroque music" if you're interested.
I love Reginald.
Tears in my eyes again! You guys should be featured in every single medieval movie and series 💕💕🥰🥰
Amazing voice. Wonderful performance.
I saw him sing in the Messiah a while back in Minneapolis. What a voice
I close my eyes and I'm transported back to a time I'll only know through this music... Brilliant performance! Thank you

Hi Brandon, thank you for this beautiful performance! 💐 The way the sound filled the room is magnificent. Was there a microphone on stage?
Thank you! The microphone was just for the recording. We were not amplified so it was a very intimate moment in this big concert hall
@@brandonacker Thank you very much for replying. Wow, that has absolutely blown me away! I wish I could have been there, bravo! 👏

Yes spruce top and maple back and asks
And thank you!
I'm so sad that he's married, so happy and yet so sad

Brandon, were you playing with no nails? The position of your right hand makes me think so.
Yes :)
In this lyrics, not so much because of the story as because of the words with which it is told, I see that I love the english language
Reginald that kid in school that reminded the teacher they forgot to give the class homework
What is that called - a tenor?
Countertenor. I have a video about it
Sounds like a Neil Peart song
Bravo!
