    This is a great beginner project. Pencil design right on the wood, few sharp turns, and if you wander a little off the lines, who cares? That’s the new design. I will admit to being a bit overjoyed that I thought an angled cut on the base would look good, and then you did just that. Nice work!

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad that you liked the project Frank. This one opens the door to so many things. Practice in scrolling and following lines. Cutting curves practice. Heck, you could even add a little wood burning to the tree to make it more decorative. I hope that you will give this one a try. Thanks for tuning in.

      Definitely some great opportunities for customization. A while back, a viewer asked me if I could send them this pattern so I traced my original cutting and then scanned it to a pdf file. If you would like a copy of that pattern Dawn, you can email the show or send a message to the channel's Facebook page and I would be more than happy to share it with you. Thanks for tuning in to the show and good luck on your project.

    Probably one of the best scroll saw projects on youtube ! Really well explained and presented. My used / pre-owned Proxxon scroll saw should master this really well, at least for pine : I gave up on trying to cut ash. Any blade suggestions for hard woods ??? 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ash is very similar to oak and can be a bit of a tough cut. It all depends on what thickness you are trying to cut. I wouldn't cut 1/4" thick ask with a #7 blade any more than I would cut 3/4" thick ask with a #2. I have found that for cutting harder woods of a larger thickness (3/4" thick) an Olson, #7 PGT reverse tooth blade works rather well. You just have to cut slowly to give the blade's gullets time to clear the sawdust, otherwise you are just burning and overheating the blade. What thickness of stock are you trying to cut and what blade are you trying to use. You may want to check out my Scroll Saw Blade Selection video on the channel. It's an older video and a longer video but it is still valid information. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

    A really cool, awkwardly shaped, funny piece, in a nice kind of way, easy to do which gets a tick from me (or a thumb), i suppose you can use a jigsaw if you haven't got a scroll saw?

      I think you are referring to the INCRA T-rule. That is an amazing product and I honestly can't think of a project that I've made where it wasn't involved. You can get them from most woodworking suppliers, directly from INCRA, or from Lee Valley. Here's a link. www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/hand-tools/marking-and-measuring/rules/58877-incra-t-rules

    Kenny, nice simple Christmas decoration. You sure have come up with some great scrap work projects lately. Where do you keep all that stuff? Your shop isn’t that big....but it is clean...LOL. Funny observation, on your Tuesday show I noticed it sitting on the workbench so I was sort of wondering when it would show up. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks for the kind words Paul. You are not the first to see the scrolled tree in the background. Darn that background for giving away the surprise. LOL. All of this stuff is displayed or given away Paul. This one, was slated for the wood stove as I wasn't going to take up more room with another woodworking project but the Mrs liked it and wouldn't have it burned so I guess it will be sealed and displayed in this years Christmas decorating. Serves me right for showing it to her I guess. LOL. Thanks for tuning in Paul.
